degreaser!!!

I get paraffin from homebase. £8.90 for 4 litres and use it for cleaning the chain on the Africa twin. I then use gear oil to lube the chain. For removing greasy marks and/or oily road grime. If ordinary car shampoo doesn't shift it then a wipe over with a cloth with a bit of WD40 on it, definitely will. Cheap degreaser of the citrus kind.. Wilko. In the bicycle section. £4 for a large can.
2. Enough said there bob If only.
3. I have bought a bike using PayPal. It allowed me to make part of the payment using my credit card so I could spread the cost over a couple of months. Something that's normally impossible for a private sale. No big deal.
4. I wonder how long it will take for the micro particles that are so small they can flow through an oil filter unimpeded, to settle out? Days? Months? Years? Decades? There is only one main reason for warming up the engine, to reduce the oils viscosity somewhat and allow it to flow more readily off the metal. so the maximum amount of oil exits the drain hole(s) in the minimum of time. if you don't want to warm up the engine, then don't warm up the engine.
5. There have been multiple instances of bikers being killed or seriously injured after hitting a large bird. one of the emergency services TV programmes of about 7-8 years ago had one of these instances as a major part of the episode. That guy survived but was badly beaten up by the birds impact (to his face - visor was destroyed) and then coming off. I worry somewhat about birds.. But, I worry about badgers more. Ive had 2 near missed where a badger was crossing the road. both times I 'just' about managed to avoid hitting it. A great many years ago I hit a cat and came very close to coming off. Not because of the impact itself, it was the 'shock'. I think hitting anything can have you off due to the sheer 'fright' of it happening. though perhaps that risk has reduced somewhat now.. where 'panic' braking isn't as risky as it once was. I do slow down when I see signs warning about deer. those signs are nearly always put up due to the high numbers of impacts. down round cannock chase they add 'impact counts' just to reinforce how risky some of those roads are.
6. passing the motorcycle test on a 125cc bike gains an A1 license. and that only allows you to ride a 125cc bike, without L plates. with the usual add-ons, like taking pillions and riding on the motorway. this is normal in continental Europe for riders under 19yo, where L plates do not exist and to ride a motorcycle means the test MUST be taken. But not the usual progression here. except in those rare cases where the rider doesnt want a bigger bike.
7. OH HELLO! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-Mt07-Fuel-exhaust-system/202653662446?epid=0&hash=item2f2f197cee:g:XtYAAOSwphhcs11v Thats either been made to order or has been cannibalised. it didn't come from 'Fuel' looking anything like that.. but the good thing is, if you dont like the end can you can easily replace it. In other words.. its worth buying just for the pipes.
8. I have read that BW exhausts are made for them and then rebranded by Delkevic. not sure of the veracity of that. From what I can tell the most affordable full system for the MT07 is from the Italian brand MIVV. for instance: all carbon. is €520 around £450 https://www.mivv.com/en/?s=mt+07
9. I should've checked first. Fuel do not list the MT07
10. Of all the UK exhaust brands the one at the bottom of my wish list is Black Widow. The name is a rebranding of SBS and they were crap too. Im made increasingly wary of them by their complete overkill on selling their exhausts, especially on eBay. page after page after page.. and just for one single model of bike. And notably, make no mention whatsoever about the various markings one would expect. If you want a decent exhaust at a good price. Look at Fuel Exhausts instead. a problem with them and they sort it - fast.
11. Possibly... but its a bit of a hike from North LONDON to Ambleside, not exactly a convenient place to sleep over. you know what they say "Too many goats spoil the something or other."
12. This is one for The GOAT he lives in Ambleside.
13. Chip shop vinegar is awful... its made from a concentrate they add water to. I always ask for salt then add vinegar at home. (Sarsons)
14. By wingspan the Halifax was 70cm wider. and overall length it was 100cm longer it also had an extra 200 horsepower.
15. Out for a ride this afternoon.. sunny and warmer than yesterday and came across this, New on a 68 plate. Im assuming its chinese, but have to say, it looked great!! sadly, I couldn't see the other side as i wasn't prepared to go in some random strangers garden. 400cc drum rear, kickstart. one for Snod Blatter

when the going gets rough he's super tough with a hong kong phooey chop - Hi-ya! Hay. Thats the last straw that is,
18. I would have loved to, but sadly, here I am at work until 7am.. Then home to the starving millions (the dog), take him out for a walk, then probably collapse into bed for an hour. Big shame as the run over to Whitchurch is an old favourite of mine, great from here via Ashbourne, Oakamoor and Blythe Bridge, with just a smidge of dual carriageway to get past Stoke. (Sigh) Maybe next time.
19. It was his first leading role.. but his road to stardom came later and began on US TV. Arguably his first major film was The Magnificent Seven. followed 3 years later by The Great Escape.
20. A thread that started about cars is now onto horsemeat. Why am I not surprised by this? Im sure i spotted a bit of dirt on the Africa twin this morning.. this seems a good time to get busy. bucket and sponge.
21. Well.. one of the downsides of "taking back control" is that we will lose all influence and have to take whatever the EU decides. if they decide to mandate various safety systems and a majority of the various governments say YES then we will also have them too as any cars imported to the UK will come to us from EU Factories, Factories that used to be here.
22. Never before has the beauty of the sexual act been so crassly exploited. You will cream in your jeans when you see the bizarre story of what happens when high school girls are allowed to stay out after curfew. Although, so far there's no known treatment for death's crippling effects, still everyone can acquaint himself with the three early warning signs of death: one, rigor mortis; two, a rotting smell; three, occasional drowsiness. A.M. Newscaster: It's 19 minutes after the hour, and now it's time for our daily feature The Astrological Hour. A quick reminder these reports are not intended to foster belief in astrology, but merely to support people who cannot take responsibility for their own lives. All this and MORE... Brutal! Savage! Beyond Perversion!
23. I blame them for a GS being on the cover of at least one bike mag every month for the last 12 years!! And then all the money BMW made from that lead to the situation we have today.. "exciting racing BMWs" You have to pity the person at KTM who turned them down when asked to provide bikes.
24. How the world has changed.. "exciting to watch racers on new BMWs" I think I need to have a lie down.. ponder the number 42 and how a brand that was only for 'old men'. is now "exciting" I blame that Ewan thingie and Charlie wotsit.
