  1. My current helmet is getting pretty knackered, plus it's coming up for 7 years old so probably in need of replacement pretty soon. I saw this on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnydMibNojo Looks interesting! Thoughts?
  2. Beggars belief what some people will do. Is it a decent car? Perhaps sheer bloody-minded jealousy? My NOTD goes to the dunce in the BMW who suddenly swung out to overtake right in front of me as I was about to overtake him and the two cars in front of him. Then he clocked me in his rear view mirror and tried the funny old trick of flooring it to try and stop me from getting past him, once he'd overtaken the two cars. Didn't work. I hope he enjoyed the gesture I made as I went past. Actually, I hope it pissed him off.
  3. rip ... so sad, so young. never met him in person, but seemed a really nice chap from his posts on here.
  4. In every shop. The same three or four songs. On repeat. Endless repeat. It really brings out the Tourettes in me ...
  5. I know you're going tomorrow, but looking at your journey on Google Maps, I would have been inclined to book into a nearby B&B or hotel the night before - then you're under no pressure to get there by a particular time. I always do that nowadays, it makes the whole experience far more relaxed - then you haven't got to get up at cuckoo-o-clock in the morning and then do battle with rush hour trafffic for 180 miles! Just thinking about that makes me feel exhausted! It's not too late to do a last-minute booking into somewhere local to the venue, head off at about 6.30, stop for dinner on the way, arrive about 10pm, get a good night's sleep then have a relaxing morning getting to the venue.
  6. I got the Captain Nut-nut prize on Monday. Our baby daughter had to go to hospital for a check-up (they reckon she's inherited my asthma and full set of allergies). We were there for 6 hours and we took her favourite toy, which is a Pooh Bear that takes batteries and sings cheerful songs. It's cute and funny for 15 minutes. For 6 hours straight, not so much. After 4 hours of listening to a singing pooh bear, I had gone beyond demented, so I volunteered to explore the hospital in search of lunch. I got into what I thought was an empty lift and when the doors had closed, I shouted in exasperation, "f**k pooh bear, f**k Eeyore, bugger Piglet, and you can shove Owl up your arse!" I heard fidgeting behind me and turned round to see a couple of old folks who had obviously snuck in unnoticed behind me, and were staring at me like a pair of owls. We continued down to C level as if nothing had happened. All very British and reserved. They then got out as fast as they could!
  7. There's a Web service called tin eye. Might help you track down all those logos! Also, presumably your company has a NAS drive somewhere with all of your corporate ms word template files on it?
  8. I had an ex who used to drive to the gym - and she lived about 20 minutes walk away from it.
  9. Where to go in Wales? Crib Gogh. You can't go to Wales and not do Crib Gogh! It's not technically difficult, just don't fall off.
  10. I rarely use the car and when I do, the behaviour of other drivers with respect to parking is ... puzzling! I drove my daughter to a hospital appointment yesterday - and there were people queueing in their cars to get the spaces nearest the front door, when the back of the car park was empty!! I see the same behaviour at supermarkets. I don't understand it. I really don't. I really really don't! I parked up, got out, got the baby buggy out of the boot, unfolded it, put her in it, walked across the car park to the main entrance - and the same people were still queueing. If you can't walk, or you're picking someone up who's just been discharged with a leg in plaster, etc, there are loads (and I mean LOADS) of wheelchairs right by the front door, and clearly marked, easy-access walkways all through the carpark (it is a hospital after all!) I don't understand it. I really don't. I really really don't! I really really really don't! I can only assume they are (a) very lazy or (b) very, very stupid.
  11. Have you managed to get all the blood off your bike yet? Lol! I shook my head at him with a great deal of English reserve. That told him.
  12. NOTD goes to the f**king dickhead student who decided to nonchalantly cross the road, diagonally, 5 feet away from a damn zebra crossing - and had the nerve to hold his hand up to me to make me stop (while he continued to slouch unhurriedly across the road).
  13. I personally don't think you should have to pay a penny more - those that bought supposedly "low emission" cars did so in good faith. If they are going to charge more VED, then every time you come to tax your car, Renault (or VW, or whoever) should pay the difference, if it is found that they have conned you. Of course, in reality though, it's much easier for the government to pursue the innocent "little man".
  14. When my Daughter is old enough to ride a bicycle ... she is NOT having one of these ... I can just imagine her riding it up and down our cul-de-sac (and up and down and up and down and up and down and ... etc!!!!).
  15. I've been lead to think that the higher up the autism spectrum you are, the less developed is your Theory of Mind. How does that sit with your experience, OP?
  16. wtf is that? This was the 48k, one of my friends had one from new, so I nagged my mum until she gave in and got the 128k for combined Christmas and birthday - that was my one gift for the whole year! (It cost £150, which was a hell of a lot of money in those days): http://youtu.be/ahVYyrWz0cg
  17. I (still) have a ZX Spectrum 128K
  18. Thanks for the recommendation, I'll take a look at it
  19. Does anyone use one of these for their business, to take payments from customers away from the office? Any recommendations? I'm thinking of getting one to plug into my tablet.
  20. As you said that after seeing her pic holding the pass certificate, you will now be her best friend She's a 1985 vintage! Lol! Anyone 30 or under is just "young" in my view!
  21. Well done! I almost got a smart, went for a Ka in the end. I passed my car test second time ... and i think it may have been before you were born! (1993?)
  22. Ethiopian space rocket: http://mykidcraft.com/images/rocketspacecardboard-tubetoy2732648212.jpg We're going to button moon, with Mr Spoon ...
  23. I've never before in this country seen rain quite as heavy as we had it this morning down here in Aaaaaam'shur. I was in the car on the motorway, the rain was so heavy no one was doing more than 15 mph. It was like driving through a lake. I felt particularly sorry for the biker who'd managed to get himself slowly down the hard shoulder to sit under a motorway bridge. XmrsIS went to take XlittleIS down to playgroup, which is no more than 100m from our front door. She got half way, turned round, came back. Every item of clothing she was wearing was wringing wet, including her waterproofs! She'd been out in it for about 3 minutes. I can honestly say the only time I've ever before experienced rain that ferocious was out in the tropics, in the Far East, during the monsoon.
  24. Do you record video for YouTube, etc? Which editing software do you use? Do you like it or looking for something better?
  25. Worse than that is when they see you coming, and still pull out to overtake, because they think their "sports" car is actually faster than a bike. They're the ones who usually floor it when I then go to overtake them, too.
