Rideout Romney Marsh Sunday March 13th
wannars125 replied to megawatt's topic in London & South East Rideouts and Meets
Sorry chaps, I'm going to have to bail out on this one. I have to be back home by 2:30pm and think it'll be a bit rushed. Will organise a full day out for later on in the month or beginning of April when we can all hopefully meet up. -

Rideout Romney Marsh Sunday March 13th

I might be able to make this. I'll confirm closer to the time. -
Right, so it's been ages since I last organised a rideout and I think, seeing as the weather looks like it's getting a bit better that it was high time I did. I think the plan will be to start from the Ace Cafe early around 8am and get going at about 9:30am. I've not planned a route yet so am open to suggestions. I've not done it before but I'm going to ask for this one that you have a bigger (over 125cc) bike. I will plan an all inclusive rideout for another day (maybe the 26th of Feb if anyone is interested...). Roads will probably take in the A32 and A272 with a stop at Loomies to warm up then on to the coast or something. This is a route that me and a few others on the forum have done a couple of times. Maybe it might be nice to head out west rather than east... Anyway, if you're up for coming along pop a note down here. I'll post up a confirmed route by Sunday.

I had the same on the front. Thought it was a brake issue but turned out to be the bearings. Sort out the brakes as mentioned and if it still happens would be worth bearing (excuse the pun) in mind it could be the bearings!

Looks amazing. I have a friend in Busan and I'm hoping to visit as long as he doesn't come back to Britain too soon!

Cheers Stu!!!

Just if the different clicks relate to different weights or if it just says that it's 1 for soft and 7 for hard! Muchos gracias!
-
Cheers Bullet, I got the same from my Haynes but I was led to believe that each click represented a certain amount of weight. I could however be wrong and it just needs to be done by trial and error. Do you have the owners manual at all?
-
Cobbz, unfortunately financial restraints prevent an upgrade! I'm familiar with how to change the settings, it's more what the numbers represent in terms of weight that I was after. In all fairness, once I get the luggage and I've got the missus on it's probably going to be at the top end anyway.

I've misplaced my owners manual and therefore don't know what the clicks represent when adjusting the rear shock preload. Can anyone help please? Cheers in advance!

Hard Luggage Question
wannars125 replied to wannars125's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
Just thought I'd update. I paid a trip to the local Suzuki dealer. They've said that the weight that Givi give (10Kg) is the weight of the box plus contents which only leaves about 5Kg.... He did add that it was up to the individual if they wanted to carry more but it was at their own risk... -
Ireland, Scotland and Europe trip
wannars125 replied to wannars125's topic in Ride Reports and Pictures
Just been reading your report DG. Sounds like you had a fabulous time. I love the idea of not really booking anywhere to stay and I think by the sounds of things it's the right way to go especially taking the camping gear around that time of year -
Ireland, Scotland and Europe trip
wannars125 replied to wannars125's topic in Ride Reports and Pictures
Just to let you know the latest post is now up. Cheers DG, I've not done so yet but will take a look at your link. Just incase anyone is thinking of taking a look, here is the first post The start of a whole new journey! So the journey began last August having taken a trip to Wales alone with the bike having gone away for a couple of days riding round some of the best roads I have ever come across even though it rained, hard, for a solid 24 hours. I knew that I always wanted to go away on the motorbike but couldn't have left my other half behind. This was the first time we'd spent the night apart in over 5 years through choice rather than not having any option and it felt odd. When I got back home though, to my surprise, Nikki my long suffering girlfriend, had decided that she did want to go away on the bike as a pillion and the cogs started whirring! A couple of weeks later and it was holiday renewal time at work. 1 week in May for our anniversary, another week in July (going away in June has always brought about trouble for us!) and 4 weeks starting at the end of August all approved by my manager. The time was booked off for our first second and third motorbike trips! It didn't take long to decide roughly where we were going. It was decided that we would visit Ireland first as we'd always wanted to visit but hadn't been, Scotland second, our 6 month anniversary was spent in Edinburgh and we'd always wanted to go back but hadn't got round to it and then 4 weeks round Europe. Roll forward to 2 weeks ago and we'd not done any planning on where exactly we wanted to go, not thought about what luggage we needed for the bike, not thought about riding gear, intercoms and sat navs and most importantly, the bike was off the road due to not having brakes and something wrong with the steering... Time to start planning! -
I've decided on the Garmin 550. It seems to be the only one that will do maps for Croatia and Hungary and possibly the rest of the eastern European block. Time to get saving!
-
Ok, I don't know if this is in the right place or not but I'm planning on going away on the bike with my other half to Ireland, Scotland and Europe (on different 3 different trips). I couldn't find much in one place that gave all the information that I wanted for a complete beginner to touring on a motorcycle coupled with taking someone that hasn't been on a motorbike before. So, I've started writing a blog to cover what I'm going through at the moment, the planning stages of our trip and the general adventure building up to the trip and the actual trips themselves. The link to the blog is here if you're interested in following our journey! http://2onabike.blogspot.com/

New Tyres, taking it easy for the first 100 miles
wannars125 replied to donhuzayfa's topic in Motorbike Chat
Don't take it for granted either that 100 miles worth of riding has scrubbed it in properly. Had my back tyre changed last year, went out, hit 100 miles, pulled away from traffic lights with a bit extra throttle and it just started wheel spinning! Probably looked good from behind but it was purely unintentional! -
Bluetooth would be a requirement for me. I'm going to be getting a scala intercom system which is bluetooth enabled so may aswell get the bluetooth enabled sat nav too.

Interesting idea's. To be honest I was looking for something from new as I'm going to be going travelling for a month and really can't be dealing with the after effects from my dodgy DIY (and yes, it usually is dodgy when it's done by me!). Also, my other half is going to be coming with me on shorter one week breaks before hand so I want to inspire confidence in her!
