  1. I think from the research I've done that the Zumo 660 is the best out there. It all depends on what you want out of a sat nav really. As others have suggested, if I was to only use a sat nav in the UK then probably google navigation on an Android phone would be best. You wouldn't be able to see it but the instructions when I used it were crystal clear and got me to my location without any problems. If however you're going to Europe, then a Tom Tom would be fine as long as you're sticking to the major countries in Western Europe. I'll be travelling round a lot of Europe later this summer and found that the Zumo series were the only ones that would offer pretty much the whole of Europe as standard including Eastern Europe.
  2. Not really considered a flip front lid before. I think for my own piece of mind I think I'd rather stick with a full face. I know the flip ones are perfectly safe but it would be just my luck that for one reason or another it failed if I crashed! I also didn't really want to cross the £300 mark so going over it by a tenner didn't seem too bad. A little off topic but I've also got to get a sat nav, intercom and helmet cam next week so looking at spending in the region of a grand which makes me feel just a little sick
  3. Does anyone have any thoughts on these helmets? I've tried them both on and they are both a good fit for me and there doesn't seem to be much in it on price. The Qwest in a plain colour is £250ish and the XR1100 £309 in a plain colour. For that, all I can see is that the XR is a little lighter. I don't know whether it is worth paying the extra for just a few less grams as compared to my current lid, the Qwest feels light as a feather anyway...
  4. Been having a look and I think you're out of luck with the Givi panniers unless you get a rack and start doing some fiddling.... However, I was having a look about on the web for other stuff for your bike and came across a make called Shad. It looks like they do the full top box and pannier solution for your bike and look like they're reasonably priced. As for quality, I'm not so sure and you'll need to do some research. If they look ok, maybe just ebay the E21's and get some of these. I'll pm you the details of the bits that I found as I don't think I'm allowed to post links on here!
  5. "> "> It comes with its own video editing software which has recently been upgraded I would recommend it if you have the cash to spare... Hi Nomad, I didn't want to resurrect an old thread but I'm looking at getting one of these and was wondering how difficult it is to attach it to your helmet? Also, does it do any damage to the helmet if you want to take it off and is it waterproof? If you're able to give any info I'd be really grateful! Thanks Anand/Wannars125
  6. As above, I have the givi rack too. Even then, the so called bike specific mount still had to be tweaked slightly to get it to fit!
  7. Fantastic! If you have any more recommendations on Scotland I'd love to hear of them as we're off there in a few weeks time!
  8. Have a look at this thread! http://www.themotorbikeforum.com/viewto ... 33&t=34555
  9. The bike outside Father Ted's house!
  10. My missus said she was wearing a slinky dress, so I pushed her down the stairs.... She was lying...
  11. I hate the f**cking posh tw*ts around London who have bought their Vespa's to get to work. They've hardly had any training and most ride on just a CBT cutting up anyone who happens to be using the road, car, motorbike or cyclist. Still haven't been able to keep up with some of the couriers but then I think they're just quite possibly insane!
  12. Was going to copy the link to put into the thread on the bike chat section. Just remember to take it easy and start at your own pace. You'll gather confidence the more you do it but try not to become cocky! If you want to learn quick, I recommend riding around London during rush hour! That's the way I done it!
  13. It's certainly picked up a bit since the last Ninja, Tony. We'll all have to go out at some point. Off on hols at the end of the week but maybe sometime in June... I'll post another thread with a weekend as they're a bit sparse for me at the moment!
  14. Is that the one that goes behind the Basingstoke canal from Mytchett towards Frimley? I lurve that road
  15. Ok, I'm definitely not going to be able to make this ride out. Off to Suffolk again on Friday night then will head to BMF on Sunday. May well go in the car if the panniers don't turn up for the motorbike. Frickin paypal doing stupid things....
  16. Think I'll probably head up to BMF. Need to pick up a few more bits for my Ireland trip at the end of the month. Hope the rideout goes well though if it goes ahead. If anyone does go to bmf drop me a line. Be more than happy to meet up for a coke!
  17. So, where to start... Don't really have much idea where we went from the Ace, hopefully Mark or Darren can fill everyone in on that! All I know is we ended up somewhere in the Chiltern hills and hertfordshire! Had a great time though. Here are some piccies!
  18. Sorry we didn't stop Stu. I did think about it, but by the time I'd thought, I was quite far up ahead! I think you must've been on the phone to breakdown as we came past (red bandit riding two up). Glad it didn't cause you to come off. I've heard the chain falling off can be pretty dangerous. I'd be giving the person that serviced the bike hell. Will post up pics in the rideout reports section.
  19. I know on another post I said I probably won't be able to come as I've got to go to my mums in Suffolk to pick up a replacement bank card but it looks like there's lots of people going and should be good. If the weather is all ok Sunday morning I'll make my way over. Mark I'll drop you a text message in the morning to confirm whether I'll be coming or not.
  20. Haha! I've used that one on people following too close! Slow down, make eye contact and just stare for a second or two! They soon back off!
  21. I tend to keep an eye out at junctions on the wheels of cars as it seems that sometimes you are invisible! As soon as those wheels start moving, even a touch, I'll roll off the throttle, move to the right hand side of the lane and cover the horn and the brake. I've only had one incident where I've actually had to slam on the anchors but if I hadn't been through that process I'm sure there would have more than likely been a collision.
  22. Ok, last message just to confirm everything is still going ahead. My number is in the contact section if you wish to come along give me a shout before 9am! If not, make your own way there and give me a shout. Hopefully the sugar from the candy floss won't have made me too hyper!
  23. Steve, give me a shout when you get there. My number is in the contacts section. Leave a message if I don't answer and I'll call you back. Hopefully the weather will stick
