Hi, I'm with @rennie on this one. I'm retired and loving it. Don't make me take a test again, picked up to many bad habits!! I don't want to be a danger to anyone else, but @RideWithStyles, don't judge all people by their age, I'm 70 next year and have ridden bikes for 52yrs, Took Car test at 58, first 4 wheel vehicle brought at 65. Still do more miles on the bike than car, Think this year it will be nearly 12000 bike and 9000 car/van, I have underlining problems left knee, which Doctors say needs to be replaced, but I don't want it done!! Seen a few friends who have had it done then had to give up biking, because they kept dropping bike. Still can handle a fully loaded VFR with wife and luggage. And my main problem is my Right eye has Macular Degeneration, so I have injection in the eye every 4 to 8 weeks, I learn to live with this, and feel I'm not a danger to other road user's. And over the years have lost quite a few friends, but most of them have died due to the actions of the younger generation, A few years ago in one such accident a elderly couple were out on their bike, and were killed outright when a youngster who was overtaking 6 cars on a bend hit them head-on, he was totally high on drugs and drunk, no licence, nothing, so how do you stop guy's like that!!! Sorry got side tracked. Depending on the medical, would I pass, don't know, can't run, totally overweight, love my beer, eat out around 6 times a week, Haven't been to doctors in over a year, so probably not.

Hi @Throttled, must admit thought I had bumped into you at Tarvie service's on Tuesday 12th, there was a guy on a green Kawasaki, but it was a Z1000sx, we were based in Aviemore for 11 nights, weather stayed pretty good, only 1 morning's ride down to the Cluanie Inn did it rain. Run up to the top at Durness was fun with the motorhomes!!! -
Well started given the old girl a 16000mile service, seem's like it might of needed it, air filter needed cleaning and 4 shims in rear cylinder!!! Not done front cylinder yet, that's tomorrow's job .

Well I've been talking to my mate who lives near Brynamman, and he reckon's it's not that bad once you get out of the town's, yes the villages are 20mph, but he reckons the roads we ride on the Welsh Rally, are going to be fine!!! The Mountain road from Brynamman to Llangadog A4069, is 40mph and monitored with 2 or 3 speed camera's [average] Hoping to pop up before the winter to see him so will let you know. And as @Isla, say's Scotland has a lot of Towns and Villages at 20mph, and it is a pain, especially as my Wife say's it's done to protect the Local's, What Local's!!!! Most of the villages are bloody empty!! We've just done 1200miles in Scotland and it didn't really ruin it for us. Do I agree with 20mph, hell no, means I have to run the VFR in 1st gear, and waste a ton of fuel!!!!!

Cor, can I claim even more points!!! NO NO NO only a joke!! -
Hi @billy sugger, sounds to me if it's a Carb bike, that the Pilot Jet is blocked on 1 or more cylinders, easiest way to know, is start the bike up, without choke if you can and no throttle. Then carefully feel if Downpipes are warm, if you have to use choke then just let bike tickover as soon as you can, without choke. If it is a pilot jet problem the Cylinder in question downpipes will go cold again. If by using throttle pipes become warm again , you'll know which float bowl you need to remove to clean pilot jet. Saves the hassle of stripping the complete set of carbs down. Hence it's only on 3 or less cylinders and cough's going back on to 4.

Hi @husoi, yep they're knackered, been sitting around by the look of it, you really don't want to go to EBC disc, because they don't like sitting around a lot, mate has a set on his second bike and they rust up, and need to be scrubbed in every time he goes out. Did look at BIKE TORQUE RACING, they do replacement BREMBO disc, but yours never came up. There is a company in Portsmouth BIKEMOTO LTD that have a Brand new set of Genuine disc at £185 each part no 45220MCSG01, 45120MCSG01, Phone no 02392698254. if that helps. Just put part no in Google and it should come up.

The VFR800 has a combined linked system, when I brought my first VFR I wasn't a fan of them, then after the first year and 15000 miles I got use to them. I now find them easy to do, last year I had the centre back piston start sticking, so just cleaned it up and pushed it back in, clamped the brake line off, took piston and seals out, new ones in and let gravity bleed the system. All done in 30mins, and now after 2 VFR's and nearly 200,000miles, only ever changed one rear disc, 99000miles, current Vfr still on original disc at 123,000miles and counting. In fact still on most things original.
