  1. Go to the attached link, instructions and info, power light flashing is very odd, I have an optimate 4, power LED should only be on to confirm its plugged in, maybe worth having it checked. I've been using optimate for years on all my bikes, quads and an off road racing buggy, always found them to be very reliable doing exactly what it says on the tin, good bit of kit in my opinion. https://tecmate.com/products/optimate3/
  2. If anyone is visiting the Isle of Man and looking for good food, biker friendly service and all at a reasonable price then I whole heartedly recommend the Ballacregga corn mill tea rooms and restaurant, this place is 1st rate, top ups of coffee are free as well, like I said it is biker friendly all year round not just during TT and MGP festival like some other places that just open their doors up to rip visiting bikers off! https://www.facebook.com/ballacregga
  3. The operators are working from a system called AMPDS or similar, they are not trained clinicians, I find it really hard to believe that registered Paramedics would be so insensitive and unprofessional ..... if they were then those aggrieved can report them directly to their registering body for investigation, reporting mechanism is easily accessible online
  4. I can imagine that was pretty scary. The closest I have been was about 1/2 mile behind a truck when the trailer tyre blew. It threw a cloud of dust and debris across the other two lanes and I remember thinking that if I had been alongside I could easily have been hit by a chunk of tyre - I rode through the wreckage a few seconds later and it didn't look pretty. Regarding the comment above from Fozzie - I think that buying an Audi must have given you a sympathetic view of them . I still find that Audi drivers are the most consistent offenders when it comes to poor or aggressive driving. It was a scary experience, thankfully the cars behind me were a good distance back, I was able to brake pretty damned hard and swerve into the outside lane, it was like a bomb going off, I had to stop at the next service station just to get myself back together.
  5. Absolutely brilliant, my kudos goes to the brave members of the public...I'd love to shake them all by the hand, just glad none of them got hurt! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4008872/Dramatic-moment-passers-attack-armed-thieves-attempting-steal-40-000-motorbike-London-force-flee-handed.html
  6. Bike Thieves
  7. Have a good one
  8. I like to have a nice safety bubble on the motorway, I ride at a speed that keeps pace with the traffic, give lorries plenty of room, had a close call on the M1 in Leicestershire a few years ago, about to go past this lorry when it had a blow out, scared the shit out of me, always in the back of my mind now when i'm going round them.
  9. Shit mate not good ...... Hope you recover fast and everything goes well, all the best
  10. Defo pinlock, its excellent
  11. I was offered a five percent discount by a local broker if the bike had an alarm and a thatcham approved security device, what did confuse me was they asked if it had an immobiliser fitted (electronic), I replied yes it comes with an immobiliser already on OEM, they wouldn't recognise the OEM immobiliser as it isn't thatcher approved, I too am beginning to think that its all just crap, will install an alarm though, more for making it less attractive to a thieving nob head
  12. Cyclists have their own laws, lets face it, no Licence, no test, no insurance and no tax, seem to do what they want regarding compliance with road traffic law, if the road is to congested they just bump up onto the pavement, a cyclist hit my neighbours car which was parked in town, repair costs came to nearly £500, guess who had to foot the bill.....he was told he'd have to take a civil action to recoup his losses........A push bike hitting a child at 30 or 40mph is going to do a lot of damage, I'm not anti cyclist, I ride a mountain bike myself, but lets have one law that applies to everyone who uses the highway.......OK i'll put the soap box away again
  13. Thanks guys, understand perfectly what you're saying, I see having an alarm fitted provides at least two small benefits, having one fitted can give you an insurance discount and it's just one more thing that makes the bike less attractive to some of the thieving scum bags out there, if its even at least made slightly more difficult for the bike thieving scum bag he's probably going to be more inclined to leave it alone
  14. Can anyone recommend a good alarm system?
  15. Mine was aHonda SS50, fell of it four times while learning to ride
  16. Super Tenere XT1200ZE
  17. With all the rain we get on this Island today was a beautiful day to be living here, ride out and a brew down in Laxey
  18. Thanks for the advice guys, I've been using it fully loaded since I got it, never had any problems so couldn't understand why they were making those recommendations, didn't respond to an email querying it either, I like the GIVI panniers, I only got the Yam ones because I got a good deal with the bike and to be honest they done the job as expected for me without any problems.
  19. This is what I found https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/super-ténéré-top-case?b=Adventure+Touring+Accessories&d=44&f=2017|196 doesn't make a great deal of sense to me, how much weight do they think you're going to put in the top box! The set up in those photos is the exact same set up that I have on my machine, it's ludicrous that they advertise it with everything in situ and then say you shouldn't do it,
  20. Exactly what I'm saying ....... it doesn't make any sense
  21. I purchased the Yamaha panniers and back box for my super Tenere, since purchase I've been riding round with them fitted and a pillion a lot of the time with no problem. I've just read on the internet that Yamaha recommends you should either have the panniers fitted without the back box or back box without the panniers, you shouldn't ride with both on at the same time, to me this doesn't make sense, I haven't had any problems, does anyone know or can anyone shed any light on why Yamaha make this recommendation??
  22. Yeah! The journalist probably didn't realise how close he came to a fiery death.. I was at the grandstand watching this when they started of, I was told it looked a whole lot scarier in real life than it did in the video, I reckon there were brown stains on those seats when they got back!
  23. I really wish they would ban slow moving lorries from the middle lane........
  24. Totally agree with that, population is increasing though, the Islands population is now approaching 90K, the complaints don't appear to be coming from the Manx people, unless I'm reading what has been posted on social media incorrectly, they appear to be coming from people who have moved over or retired here, some of who seem to think that motorsport is destroying the peace and tranquility of the island!! Its stuff posted like the following that fuels their fire even further https://jalopnik.com/5931270/why-the-worlds-deadliest-race-could-never-happen-again, its my personal opinion that if you don't like it don't come here, racing is a Manx tradition, going strong for over a hundred years, I love riding round the roads during TT and seeing bikes with number plates from as far afield as America, Germany, Spain and Norway to mention but few, if motorsport didn't exist neither would the Island, when I go on holiday and people ask where I'm from I say the Isle of Man, the usual reply is "oh yes, where they hold the TT races"
