  1. This is what I found https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/super-ténéré-top-case?b=Adventure+Touring+Accessories&d=44&f=2017|196 doesn't make a great deal of sense to me, how much weight do they think you're going to put in the top box! The set up in those photos is the exact same set up that I have on my machine, it's ludicrous that they advertise it with everything in situ and then say you shouldn't do it,
  2. Exactly what I'm saying ....... it doesn't make any sense
  3. I purchased the Yamaha panniers and back box for my super Tenere, since purchase I've been riding round with them fitted and a pillion a lot of the time with no problem. I've just read on the internet that Yamaha recommends you should either have the panniers fitted without the back box or back box without the panniers, you shouldn't ride with both on at the same time, to me this doesn't make sense, I haven't had any problems, does anyone know or can anyone shed any light on why Yamaha make this recommendation??
  4. Yeah! The journalist probably didn't realise how close he came to a fiery death.. I was at the grandstand watching this when they started of, I was told it looked a whole lot scarier in real life than it did in the video, I reckon there were brown stains on those seats when they got back!
  5. I really wish they would ban slow moving lorries from the middle lane........
  6. Totally agree with that, population is increasing though, the Islands population is now approaching 90K, the complaints don't appear to be coming from the Manx people, unless I'm reading what has been posted on social media incorrectly, they appear to be coming from people who have moved over or retired here, some of who seem to think that motorsport is destroying the peace and tranquility of the island!! Its stuff posted like the following that fuels their fire even further https://jalopnik.com/5931270/why-the-worlds-deadliest-race-could-never-happen-again, its my personal opinion that if you don't like it don't come here, racing is a Manx tradition, going strong for over a hundred years, I love riding round the roads during TT and seeing bikes with number plates from as far afield as America, Germany, Spain and Norway to mention but few, if motorsport didn't exist neither would the Island, when I go on holiday and people ask where I'm from I say the Isle of Man, the usual reply is "oh yes, where they hold the TT races"
  7. Ambulances are actually relatively slow vehicles, they weigh in at around 4.8 tonnes, the engines are not tuned or modified in any way, when they get to hills they do slow down, laws of physics, it is also dependant on whether they have a patient in the back or not, they may use blue lights and sirens to get through heavy traffic but still drive relatively slowly for crew and patient comfort and safety. I don't think you're breaking any laws by overtaking a slow moving emergency vehicle, you only fall foul of the law if you deliberately obstruct them, look at the emergency workers (obstruction) act 2006.
  8. Bloody hell! Haven't seen that on our tracks and hope we never do, people just need to live and let live ....... life to short
  9. OK recently purchased my very first high end textile jacket, wanted something good to use for my planned long haul trip for next year, I did a lot of research and opted for the Rukka, after nearly killing myself with overtime to afford it. The first thing that struck me when it arrived was the weight of the coat, feels like a suit of armour, very well put together, with triple stitching and armourcor panels in all the right places, the D30 armour in the shoulders and forearms is massive, covering a substantial area, back protector and removable chest protector also included, it all may sound very unyielding but in actual fact its very comfortable to wear, the armour is very unobtrusive, my one gripe would be that the armour is only level 1, I would have expected, bearing in mind the price, level 2 armour as standard, that said level 2 armour is actually designed for racing and level 1 will easily offer up enough protection for my commuting / touring purposes, not that I really want to test it out anyway, I wore it today for the first time in the rain, and it really was a heavy downpour, my top half stayed perfectly dry and I found the jacket to be nice and warm, even without the thermal liner in. As for sizing, my chest size is 44.5" I went a size up and ordered the XL, this fits perfectly, the jacket comes with a separate, down filled coat, this liner packs into its own stuff bag, it states that you can wear this as a separate coat if you wish, I personally think it would be a little bit to short for most people though, it doesn't zip into the the main jacket and this suits me fine, I hate those fiddly, awkward zippers and attachments for some of the removable linings. All in all I'm very impressed with this coat and would definitely recommend it to the commuter / tourer, six year extended warranty through Tranam, expensive yes, but you get what you pay for, when I look at how much I've shelled out on other coats over the years I'm sorry I didn't go for something like this sooner, would have saved myself a lot of money, I'm hoping to get many years of service from this jacket
  10. I hear a lot of anti motorsport comments over hear now, bearing in mind the Island has been synonymous with motorsport for many, many years, and has a rich history in motorcycling, all too often you can read exerts that begin "ban the TT" "ban the FOM" "ban greenlaning" "ban the rally" unbelievably most of the comments are made by people who have moved here to live, it beggars belief, why move here if you don't like motorsport.....
  11. Just wanted to warn any off roaders that may be visiting the Isle of man, there seems to be a lot of anti off road activists about, as someone who used to do a lot of off roading I can vouch that I have come up against a lot of rude, arrogant people who want to stop riders using the green lanes, I was always considerate, stuck to the lanes and rode in a live and let live fashion, it didn't stop me taking abuse though, it got to a point where I always took my go pro out with me. we now appear to be getting things such as what is detailed in the link below, take care out there guys and if anyone comes up against things such as this I urge them to contact our local constabulary who are very proactive and who will investigate and act upon things reported to them http://manx.net/isle-of-man-news/70492/green-lanes-danger
