  1. Think the correct name is 'well nut' not 'gimp nut'
  2. This is the kind of rubber nut I'm having problems with. The top par that acts as a spacer/washer has come apart from the rest of it Nut in its rubber gimp suit.
  3. I'm trying to get to the indicator to replace it but I have a spinning bolt on the fairing preventing me getting to it. It's one of those rubber bungs with the nut inside that keeps spinning. I tried using a magnet to hold it still and shoving a screwdriver between the head light and fairing to try pin the rubber nut but to no luck. Any ideas before I give up and drill it out?
  4. Bit of damage, but I don't have time to fix it right now. I looked it over the next morning and the hand guards smashed off, indicators hanging off and the shift levers curled in on itself like a snail, and for some strange reason the bar end that didn't hit the ground is gone. standard scratches, and I suspect the wheel alignment's out but will not know until I get a day off in Jan to properly look at it. Found a badger tooth where I crashed but no badger so he might have got up spat out a tooth and muttered a few swear words and walked off. that or he was recycled by the foxes and crows.
  5. Is badger bashing a common occurrence? Imagine the biker wont come off well in a high speed badger impact. lol It f**king happend. Early this morning about 2 am came round a corner it ran across me and couldn't stop quick enough, Had to abandon the bike. I'm OK bandger and Honda ....not so well
  6. We should find out who's doing it and booby trap there house. Swap shampoo for mayo, toilet paper for sandpaper, nuttler for dog poo, and glitter on every thing.
  7. So is it dog walkers, horse Ridders or some exoffroader who was shunned by the community and is now pulling some Scooby Doo revenge shit?
  8. I was kicked off jury duty because when they said to bring in the acused, I did a pantomime boo.
  9. I think the Mongolians and Genghis Khan weren't to far off. A man found in possession of a stolen horse must return it to its owner, add nine horses of the same kind. If he is unable to pay this fine his children must be taken instead of the horses. If he has no children then he must be slaughtered like a sheep.
  10. What's the best way to deal with these angry people? I once had a horse ridder yelling at me when I was out jogging once "you shouldn't run near a horse". shouldn't have a horse on the road then oldcow.
  11. what an excellent way to keep new members on the forum at the end of the day everyone has their own opinion on each model of bike granted some are good some not so good but to make the whole forum look bad is down right rude as far as im concerned........................................and on that note i guess i better go for the night before i step in more horse shite He did call us beautiful
  12. My first bike was a lexmoto aspire. Pros: cheap to fix, lightweight, simple bike to learn mechanics on. Cons: cheap parts, bad fuel filter, rattles itself loose if you dont keep an eye on it, electronics and upgrades drain power and you will spend a lot of time charging the battery of you don't do over 5 miles on it everyday. Break caliper came loose mid ride once. Had to clean out the carburetor a lot. Tank cap was crap and leaked in water often. Alarm drained the battery so I had to remove it in the end. Any secondhand lexmoto will last you a week before you have problems. Brand spanking new one maybe a year. Invest in a good sexond hand Honda or Apilla, but wouldn't recommend lexmoto.
  13. As this has turned in to a post about justice, what your thoughts on this. Next town over from me had to close the roads off after a guy was tied to a car (or dangled out the car window) and dragged the lenth of the road ( about 1/4 mile) before being run over and left for dead. He died obviously. And the car was used for the hit and run was found burnt out a mile or two away. All the info I have heard are from people who knew (or knew of) the victim, so might not all be 100% true. Everyone saying its gang related but not like the Mafia more little shits in hoodies. But that's not just murder that's torture aswell. Thoughts?
  14. MCE but because it was a third party at fault its going threw Plantech. Who have messed up the paperwork about five times now. I have signed more paper work than I can count.
  15. I dont understand it. They call it salvage value, but then there is hardly enough scrap on a bike to get £100 at a scrap yard
  16. Well its not going well. I disputed the clame and they ignored my questions and made a settlement. When I said "why did you not ask for the market value" they said the other insurances said wouldn't accept it. I ended up going to the ladies insurance and asking them directly and they said no such thing. So I sent them my own research and they said they would get there team on it.
  17. Lucky she did admitted when it happend along with a witness. I want to keep it and fix it up my self, not sure the value is correct on it tho. Every bike of the same make, moddle and similar millage is on sale for £1,000 more than what they say its worth. I sent an email back asking a few more questions and examples of the bike price for a new one see if that will help. Do t need new parts just good parts, as long as I can get it on the road, I'm happy. Found a mechanic who will do the inspection and MOT but recommends I find the parts threw scrappers to save cash.
  18. My bike got flipped over when it was parked by a granny taking a turn in a carpark waaaaay to fast. Got a report back from the insurance saying its a cat N write off. They say the repairs would cost approx £2,300 and the bikes worth £2,700 with a scrap value of £350. From what I saw it only needed a new windscreen mirror and footpeg everything else is just scratches. I find it hard to believe its a wright off! Not sure what my next move should be. (Its a 700 transalp)
  19. I think its electrolysis, when you remove rust buy wiring up the item and dunking it in salty water hooked up to a trickle charger
  20. Is Electrolysis an ok method of restoring old bike parts? I can't think of a reason why it would be bad, but I haven't seen any restoration projects use it before.
  21. Yep sparking when I ground it against the engine block.
  22. I have a good spark and the plug is is wet. defiantly secured properly. Not sure what you mean by metering, how would I check that?
  23. Did it run OK before fitting the filter? Have you tried taking the filter out again? Does the filter have a "flow" (is there an arrow on it to show which way the fuel goes)? What exactly did you do to the carb? It was running fine all week then wouldn't start Monday night. I figured it was one of the jets clogged again as this is usually the problem. I did try with out the filter and it didnt change anything. The filter dose have a flow arrow and is point the correct way. With the carb I took the float chamber apart, took off the float and needle, removed the jets and used a guitar string to clean them out, wiped down the bowl and re assembled it.
  24. New stupid question. I put a filter in the fuel line between the tap and the carburetor. (ther is one built in to the tap but its dogshit) As I turned on the tap and watched the filter fill I noticed the fuel was mixed with somthing 50/50 and split once settled, it looked like oil. I broke the fuel line and drained half a pint and let it settle it was again 50/50 with a milky tint on top and orange at the bottom (bit of rust and dirt front eh tank I think). I drained off a few pint until it was just petroleum coming out. re-assembled the fuel lines (wit the new filter) I gave the carb a clean and check the spark plug. all back together but wont fire up. repeated the clean and spark check but still wont fire up, any ideas?
