‘Twas a tad nippy in the front room this morning, Mrs Mickly informed me that the gas fire wasn’t working & that we’d have to get someone in to fix it.
Getting someone in, is, in my eyes an absolute last resort, so I said I’d have a look when we got back from the school run & shopping - thus began the argument over whether l as a non professional should go anywhere near it in case I blow up
the whole house, she wouldn’t let it lie & kept on about it for the next 4 hours !! I eventually said yeah ok, just to shut her up.
When we got home I realised it was the piezoelectric spark not working so used a couple of cotton buds & contact cleaner to get rid of any debris & hey presto it was working again, she hasn’t said a word since.
- footnote: she’d ‘cleaned’ the fire the night before

I wonder how they’d have coped with 1973/74 power cuts.
Would have been ok I reckon, as long as coal kept being shovelled into the factory boiler

Maybe contact NABD (National Assocation for Bikers with a Disability)
They should be able to give you some good pointers & if you’re lucky a grant towards the cost.

I have the same bike for my first big bike mine has an issue where it cuts out at low revs so I'll have to tackle that before I can ride her. One guy said it could be an issue with the thermostat...does this make sense to anyone? If so, how do I fix the thermostat or would it need replacing or something?
There are several reasons this might happen, but before you start buying & replacing stuff try disconnecting the BMS for 1/2 hour. You should always start the bike in the following way - 1/ ignition on 2/ wait for the red temp light to go out 3/ press the start button Without touching the throttle, apparently if you mess this procedure up the BMS uses the throttle position as the default closed position, disconnecting the BMS resets it.
This shows you how:
Good luck, let us know how you get on- 1

I diagnosed a water leak, changed the water pump as the shaft was worn letting water past the seals.
Got all the bits needed & started putting it all together, as the Haynes manual says “ just the reverse of the assembly process” …. Except … to fit the clutch cover you have to hold the gasket in place & align the water pump drive, the gear change shaft, the solid oil bypass pipe & finally the clutch actuation mechanism, been trying for hours without success but think I’ve fond the reason:
In this video the centre shaft needs to remain in its starting position to mate with the clutch actuation shaft in the clutch cover - it seems I have a poltergeist that keeps turning it slowly out of position when I’m trying to fit the cover, (which I can’t show you as I can’t upload the .mov file from my I-phone )any ideas?
Starts in this position

Decided ( again ) that I fkin hate French cars … I spotted that Step Daughter’s Clio had a headlight out, so I had to buy a bulb & remove the skin off my knuckles to remove & replace it.

A tale of sorrow & a warning to all …
Step Daughter has been a quite ill over the last week or so but has been gamely going to work because they are so short staffed ( she’s a dental nurse ) it has wiped her out and so Mrs Mickly volunteered for us to do her Xmas food shopping for her, which we did yesterday at Aldi and a couple of other places .. all well & good so far, shops were busy but not too bad.
We also got some stuff for ourselves from Aldi including a piece of beef. I wasn’t really concentrating much, just pushing the trolley & picked up the beef I had seen advertised for £25, only one left as well.
Much later late last night I was going through the receipt to work out how much Stepdaughter owed us & saw an item for £67 only to realise that it was the beef I had bought & that it was £25 PER KILOGRAM & I’d bought a 2.6kg piece.
Mrs Mickly was unimpressed, especially as she doesn’t like beef.
So although it was a shock, I’m quietly excited to try it.
The price was on the bottom of the box - a bit dodgy if you ask meLesson learned.

Ah, yes, I think the technical term is F*cked
Use the internet to find a suitable replacement, doesn’t have to be OEM part for that actual bike, just something cheap to get it going at first so you can eliminate other issues.

Limped home (less than a mile thankfully) stuck in gear as my quick shifter rod and shift lever arm decided to get a divorce - the nut, bolt and collar nowhere to be found (on a Friday night, down a country lane with a torch).
I had this happen with a gear lever, luckily I noticed within about 1/2 mile of the last gear change.
Went back the following day with a hoe ( gardening tool - you dirty minded lot ) and while poking through the undergrowth I was accosted by a couple of Coppers who thought I was looking for magic mushrooms - after clearing up the misunderstanding I thanked them for letting me know that there were some around , they obviously didn’t see the funny side as an hour later another van stopped with about 8 of them in checking me out again.
Took me about 2 hours to find the gear lever.

Same here. Private messages asking to swap contact details with me. Tad creepy.
Yeah, I had that, just ignored it.
In the distant past there was a nob head on the MCN forum who used to make up fake female profiles to entice & wind up naive posters - I watched it develop with amusement.
This person may have been genuine with innocent intentions

Just replaced back tyre, upgrading from old classic to Avon roadrunner which suitable replacement, by taking back wheel off they didn't even charge me to fit and were cheaper than me buying online and fitting myself, happy days and much smoother ride, sorry SD for your pain!!

Kudos for testing the cornering ABS, took me all my bottle to test the Speedtriple’s basic ABS in a straight line, back brake was easy enough but I was sh*tting my self trying the front in case it locked.
