  1. Oh yeh none of the stuff I bought was cheap but as you can see it was all about the aesthetics not the practicality. I had a lot of time and some spare cash during the first lockdown and I missed bike dealerships with cafes and the pub so I made my own which I have to say is a vast improvement on the real thing cos it’s not full of other annoying people, the beers the right price and I already own the bikes in it It’ll probably save me a small fortune over the coming years!
  2. Surprisingly not. The ones I went for are intended for industrial n commercial use so are made of magic non slip stuff. Weight rated for heavy vehicles and forklifts up to 3.5 tons. Expected to last 20+ years n guaranteed for 10 so should be fine in a garage- only time will tell! I reckon very heavy things where the weights concentrated in small areas will dent it but I’ve had no problems. Even the dent from a 670llb bike on its side stand only made a slight indention which doesn’t effect it functionally. I used hockey pucks under the side stand and then forked out for these larger ones cos they can be kicked under the bike without getting off. Not that getting off is a big deal! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Side-Stand-Pads-Jmt-Big-Foot-192Mm-For-better-stability-of-the-motorcycle-on/142151554764?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 It’s ridiculously easy to lift and replace a damaged tile without disturbing the rest of the floor and if I ever move I’d have no qualms about picking the flooring up and taking it with me!
  3. Love them. Waded through page after page after painfully boring page of stuff on piston heads about garages until I also turned into a total garage geek so warning ahead is boring stuff about garages. Duratile and Ecotile are the two brands that kept coming up as most durable. I went with Ecotile just cos Duratile was out of stock. You need to look at the industrial options only if want them to last and withstand weight. Easy to lay (jigsaw is much easier than the recommended Stanley knife), don’t appear to need cleaning (although apparently the black and very dark grey do), they’re durable and recover from heavy objects (but I still use pucks for the sidestands), you don’t have to have a completely level floor (dips n pits are fine but worth grinding lumps down), theyre not slippery and the garage is warmer. One change that made the biggest difference was this cabinet from Big Dug, pricey but worth it. Having various tool boxes and stuff piled up took up a lot of room and although there’s not enough room for everything in it this makes getting want you want easy and takes up a hell of a lot less space. https://www.bigdug.co.uk/office-education-c2889/office-c6971/office-storage-c6994/office-cupboards-c5612/value-tambour-door-cupboards-p17922 @Tiggie it’s a small storage seat that’s used as a footstall (it now has wheels on the bottom). What you can’t see is I took that photo sitting on a sofa, yes that’s right a sofa (second hand ebay special) so you can come back from a ride, get a beer from the fridge and just sit looking at your bike in total peace and quiet. Bliss.
  4. @Gerontious don’t suppose there’s any recording of the road that’s shareable?
  5. Looks fantastic. The road seems to very closely follow the shore line. I’m adding it to the roads I wanna ride!
  6. Beautiful pic. Germany?
  7. It’s sorting through all the loose shrapnel that takes up the time. Box it, stack it, clear everything else and then the boxes can be done sitting done with a cup of tea or something stronger It’s worth it @Tiggie I’m still chuffed every time I go out there and it’s been months since it was cleared.
  8. Damn I wudda won that one!
  9. Would show you a pic before I started but it was so bad I was too embarrassed to take a photo! It was much worse than yours
  10. Oh dear LTF that’s bad. Get a temporary filling from the chemist or large supermarket and cover the exposed nerve- if you can’t get an appointment that is! Just to pour some soothing balm on everyone’s bad teeth I have no missing teeth and not a single filling so what are you all doing? Brush your teeth you dirty beggars
  11. Or Hermes.... https://metro.co.uk/2020/11/04/angry-hermes-driver-caught-launching-packages-into-van-as-hard-as-he-can-13536693/
  12. Nope, enlighten me. Or are you asking cos you’re gonna give them a go? My knowledge of off road tyres is pretty limited.
  13. Oh yer that is my favourite motorbike film. It’s an excellent rainy day film.
  14. Wait til you have a bag of fluids in your hand and say to the student nurse “we’ve run out of long stands, go to A&E and ask if you can have one” It never wore out and the students never passed the information on, think they must have been looking forward to doing it themselves
  15. Excellent Thanks @manxie49
  16. Yer I like the Rivians too. I think, well so they say Anthony Hopkins is alright on the inflated ego front. He’s given up acting more than once cos he said it’s a ridiculous way to spend your time. He recently said in an interview “Ego is a serpent and vanity is simply another thing that must fall away if one is to be if any use as an actor or even a person.” Reckon he would have made excellent motorbike travel progs!
  17. Cheers mdear, I’ll have a looky.
  18. An oldy and not quite good/bad enough for your worse joke section, still made me smile though.
  19. By the sounds of it not for much longer!
  20. I understand your frustrations but is there a way to resolve it without giving away a 70quid online voucher and you keeping the physical voucher that you could well use later? edited to remove suggestion of waiting til next Wednesday cos I forgot about the Black Friday bargain part of the equation Doh
  21. Oh ok, just not gonna be a fun time at work!
  22. Hardly your fault if they no show is it. Bosses who take their moods out on their employees should be shot on the spot
