1. That’s great news ENJOY ENJOY ENJOY -4 bet that was nippy on the fingers
2. You’re supposed to stop at red traffic lights?
3. I don’t know what the emissions on your bike are but there is a loophole for bikes that pre date 2007 but still meet the emissions criteria. There are people on here who would like to know if this works so let us know how you get on. Here’s a link to the article. https://www.bikerandbike.co.uk/loophole-means-older-motorbikes-may-still-qualify-for-ulez-exemption/
4. A fascinating bit of history and a very interesting take on things. Thankyou. If they produced a cruiser and released the finished item it could easily miss its mark. As you say this they dip their toes in gauge people’s responses and get some fine custom builder with their finger on the eclectic pulse and build up from there something that is desired. What you’re saying is most savvy and now I can’t imagine that’s not what they’re doing. The 9T pure has been a relative success with custom builders (not something you associate with traditional BMW bikes) and I imagine if they produce a cruiser they’d use the same lego bolt on approach making it easily personalised/customised. If BMW were in that market I think they could give Harley a fright on being a custom base bike just because they’re products are so well thought out, if they want it to be easy to work on it will be but being BMW it’ll also work straight from the box without any modifications. A cruiser that goes, now that’d be something. I hope if it appears that rather than looking like a bag of parts put together (that’s how a lot of cruisers look to me) that it has the overall ‘whole’ feeling that BMW do well.
5. That moment where you realise the person in front of you is doing something so stupid you might die is one of the wierdest feelings you can get. Death by stupidity it’s not the way to go Is it, glad you’re unscathed, that’s definitely a brown trouser moment. Did you get a look at their face and was it that clueless look of a total moron or were they at least red faced and realising their monumental idiocy?
6. Yes he was wasting your time. If he suspected you were not telling the truth he should have run a check rather than making up a lot of piffle.
7. Umm Speedy23 that’s a link to the same article I posted at the start of the thread. I assumed from your post you had seen something else. That’s explains not finding anything different. Never mind it was way passed bedtime
8. Nothing wrong with a bit of off topic me thinks. Sadly they’ll cost the NHS a fortune in diabetic healthcare and cardiac diesease before they pop their clogs. I’d like to try an 1800 boxer engine just to see. It will have been sold down the river by then and we will all need private health care Will be a very sad day.
9. Can't be a bad thing! more people die early more money in pension pot bring pension age back down Anyway Nothing wrong with a bit of off topic me thinks. Sadly they’ll cost the NHS a fortune in diabetic healthcare and cardiac diesease before they pop their clogs. I’d like to try an 1800 boxer engine just to see.
10. Fixed that for you Lol. Unfortunately it looks like this country is following suit on the weight front.
11. Gerontious yes sorry meant air cooled. I didn’t know sportsters weren’t considered real Harley’s, thought they were real ugly though! BMW have had a taste of success offering another range that’s a step away from their traditional designs so why not. Ola Stenegärd who was behind the r ninet has gone back to Indian now so I suspect they’ll have their work cut out.
12. Why is a 1200 not enough? Is it a p*ssing contest type of thing or are the bikes so damn heavy they need it? Speedy23 what Japanese custom? I might really need one
13. Before I bought the 9T I was told the boxer engine was done and would be finishing its time with the r ninet, I was glad I wouldn’t be missing out on it. Looks like that’s not so. Hoggs you’ll be pleased to see there’s a pic on here of it from behind looking so wide it makes you breath in! https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/2018/december/bmw-engine-custom-motorcycle/
14. Yes it’s helpful. Felt it once turning on gravel, I think it would have been fine anyway but I was grateful it was there to lend a hand but who knows whether it would of been ok without it.
15. And how precarious all of their survivals (or not) have been. My pops informs me come spring time he’ll be down the Ducati dealers seeing what they want to offer him on his Harley!
16. I have a new found respect for Ducati- Monster 165 bhp Panigale 195 bhp. I can’t imagine what that’s like. Interesting history as well. Worth a watch.
17. I thought that too. Go farmer style, amazing what you can achieve with duct tape, metal putty, epoxy glue and a complete disregard for the aesthetics. On the other hand does it mean Santa NEEDS to deliver a new bike?!
18. Big Congratulations Not sure “f**k ok follow me” is quite the test I’d be expecting but hey a pass is a pass
19. CONGRATULATIONS Sounds like a tough day but I can’t imagine anything better to comfort you through the flu! ps do not take 5 ibuprofen, it makes little difference to the efficacy but will give your liver a beating and you’re going to need that organ in tip top condition to celebrate when you’re better!
20. Poor thumb. One handed is so much more debilitating than you realise until you have to deal with it. Good luck with the surgery. Might want to think about some fat grips, the extra width will be much kinder on your recovering thumb when you jump back on. The recommendation by folk on here who know better than me are Grip Puppies.
21. Noooo. Sorry to see that. Hope it not as painful as you think (or it looks) £££
22. I'm a BMW driver so, similar - yeah. Crikey don’t tell Hoggs, you’ll never hear the end of it!
23. Ooh don’t stop there let’s hear more. What about urr urm children who are out of control at school who don’t respect their teachers and truant all the time- tazer or tarmac? and is that a Topic or Jelly tot reward? Our teachers and religious folk had an assortment to choose from, slipper was softest, followed by shoe, then cain, then bunsen burner hose then a cat of nine tails, if impromptu punishment was required it was usually what was near to hand, blackboard rubber was a cert, the odd book could come your way and the pinnacle was the compass, honestly I think I could probably sue. Ohh I really was dipping out of this thread about the police because it’s just too divisive but I can’t resist this one ... Suing might be tricky as corporal punishment wasn’t banned until 1987 in state schools and ‘98 in fee paying schools. Watched more than one teacher with anger issues take it out on a kid they decided they didn’t like. Yeh you have to be careful giving power to people in positions of authority because although you’d could argue they’re professionals and would only use it reasonably and proportionally some of them just don’t and then you find theres no recourse when they’ve beaten your child for no good reason, of course if you complained they would just make something up....
24. GoG did you want 1 or 7? I'm flexible on the numbers but you can't have two If we can have the same number as last year, then I would like 1 - If not, the 007 I’m struck by an image of you next to your bike waving your number about singing Blondies “Tide Is High” Is that why you’ve chosen number one?
25. I heard they didn’t want to make the other bikes look shite
