"...main option being support material (such as PVA) which would allow now complex prints by putting the support material in gaps that would normally be a struggle to print over, then pop print in water after and it dissolves all the PVA." Via Theres definitely a word for that thing where a material is dissolved or burnt away leaving the intended structure behind, I just can't remember what it is! It sounds like you're gonna get far more accurate results on more complicated pieces. I think screws should have a strength rating on them so you know before you start if theyre gonna round themselves off at least then you'd have the option of buying something decent. We used to have a place round here called nuts n bolts where you could go in and buy just 1 or 2 screws very cheaply and they only sold quality. Now its £5 for a pack of dubious one use only rubbish.

Sweet innocent that I am (ahem) thought I don't get the link between Wolfie Smiths Power to the People and a printer upgrade
-
Oh I haven’t seen the TED talk I’ll have a look. I have rearranged things, have tickets and am going. Looking forward to it muchly

What will your new upgraded printer do that the original printer can’t?

Last night after proceeding past the half a bottle of cider I decided to share some of these with my husband and sons, this caused enormous merriment. They were punctuated with their own misdemeanours which turned into a bit of a confessional for my sons, well worth the share. It would make a great comedy prog recreating the nuts stuff people actually did at school. Tears of laughter were rolling at RE, perhaps your mentally ill miss The can of coke in the bin The hacksaw on the bike (although that was mixed with groans) The dementia teacher Electrocuting the deputy head The 25ft acid sketch of cock n balls The teachers car going up in flames Flying out of the window of the school bus Good stuff, now I just have do deal with my not so angelic sons

I know race, religion and politics are the soothing balm that unit us all in a peaceful harmony but even so I can’t not share this one ">

So are we still looking forward to the printed TMBF superbike arriving on schedule? Love the printed parts. There must be a word for something that can fix itself?

I have a friend who likes to think of herself as a bit of an amateur psychologist, and she is convinced that there is some deep underlying reason for my total disinterest in making any meaningful friendships (outside of the one I have with my wife, of course). She has expressed the view that because my old man had planned to take me with him when he offed himself all those years ago, I may have unresolved 'attachment issues'. The great thing about psychology, as opposed to proper science, is that you can interpret almost anything you see in front of you as evidence to support whatever crackpot notion you have formulated. So when I tell her that my disinterest in other people is really down to laziness and not to any painful childhood experience, she interprets that as 'repression of traumatic memories'. When I tell her that I don't hate other people, it's just that I'm usually happier when they're not around, she sees this as 'heeling with humour'. You can't win, so now I don't bother with her much either. My apologies. It wasn’t intended to come across that way but now I read it back it does. Was more of an admiration of the approach, you can tell your therapist that next week.

Sounds far more like you have a low tolerance for the dull/stupid/self absorbed and your wife is a tolerant maybe empathic soul. Lucky you. Someone very dear to me is exactly the same and people who like to mix it up a bit are always infinitely more entertaining. A quick slice through the attempt to draw you into the “poor me” routine was probably the easiest way to get some entertainment and say “go away” otherwise you would use the same line everyone else uses “excuse me a moment” and never go back! I reckon you have the same non-conformist approach for swiftly separating the wheat from the chaff leaving only the people you might be bothered with standing. The bit I don’t get is that you must like to socialise cos he (the someone dear to me) won’t agree to go to these doos in the first place. I now get why your ex fancies your wife.

Reginald Revans lives! The only similarity there is I might also be good on the long jump with that fire under my feet

The clue is in the name......"controller"..........hope the tootsies are feeling a bit better now....... (Just thought.....what you created was a self-contained, personal "firewalk"!!! I won't say "how cool is that?" 'cos it obviously wasn't.....) Well you know how reason goes out the window with the tiniest bit of physical discomfort! It went like this- “Well they sell the controllers separately so you must be able to use them without” “Yes yes and I use them on full blast all the time anyway so no controller is probably the equivalent of full blast” “Mmm yes that’s sound reasoning, what’s the worse that could happen anyway, I have to stop and unplug. In fact it would be stupid not to try it” New controller arrived today

The Spin Doctor that’s him. How satisfying, THANKYOU Now just to find exactly the article I’m after, the tabloids seem to have a love affair with a completely different version No I was not aware of the ‘ladder of learning’ as a concept but it makes perfect sense to me. Partially why I stuck with my cycling username Slowlycatchymonkey was because it very quickly became apparent there are so many variables that alter the outcome when riding (a mobike) that it was sensible to take it slowly and explore all those variables before making any alterations (eg increasing speed), cement one thing before exploring another. That’s also when I realised there’s ALWAYS going to be a variable to master. I’m not finding myself agreeing with Mr Houghs argument of dissuading riding altogether, the constant battering I received comments wise about how likely I was to be crippled or how many ways there is for me to die made me a nervous rider for sometime and that jitteryness is not conducive to decent riding- at all. I also left the MC Rider forum (not a fun place) because it’s constantly reinforcing safety messages in a top down heavy fashion by telling you stories about someone who’s either done something daft and come a cropper or something completely out of the riders control wiping them out. Fear is not conducive to producing smooth quality riding. Of course he’s right in one way if you stop people riding altogether they’re won’t be any motorcycle accidents..... thats fun. -

elizabethf That’s a tough one. There’s always a little bit of us that wants to be able to say “I passed first time” and that’s the bit that makes it stingy. That and the excitement of passing is already so close. The reality is from the feedback you’ve had that you’re ready to pass and it won’t be long now, 10 days is nothing in the grand scheme of things You’ll find some love for your 125 while your waiting for your next test because you’ll just want to get out on the bike. Good luck for next time -
Should that read “The dogs owner, who acted like a massive and left it there” ???

No, I don't think anyone died when I was there, although I did hear that two lads in our year died of heroin overdoses a couple of years after leaving. No idea if it's true or not - I haven't given a toss about any of them in over 30 years. Well, that's not strictly true: I did give a toss about my best friend, but he's dead too (bike accident), and there was a girl from my year that I used to go out with when we were in our very early 20s. We were at her house on Sunday in fact - she gets on like a house on fire with my wife. To be honest, everyone gets on with my wife - it's me they find more of an acquired taste! So you married a woman who makes you palatable, acceptable and accessible to others and didn’t have to alter your approach at all? Most wise.

What set could you reccomend?
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to scrublord's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
As above a large J&S accessories. Was sent there by the dealer after I bought my 125 and got kitted out with boots, armoured jeans, armoured jacket with removable thermal liner and a helmet for £250 and that was in no way their cheapest gear. The helmet was £110 of that total and they do helmets at half that price! Also great to have all your layers with you so you can see what best fits. -
Need help quickly!!

emmajaneg Glad it’s worked out. If I’ve looked at the right jacket that’s a bargain! Check out what space you have available ie is there a lining you can slide it under if so you’ll probably be able to fit one of these in for about £14 https://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcycle_parts/content_group/Back+protector/(all;product_price;ASC;0-0;all)/page_0/max_20 Just get some sticky backed Velcro and voila. Warning sticky back Velcro is no match for the strength of the actual Velcro so if for whatever reason you want to take it out you’ll have to replace some of the Velcro with fresh stuff -

The Spin Doctor From what I could ascertain from all the studies I read when I was genning up on if I was likely to die if I took up motorcycling there’s a sparcity of decent research and little agreement on anything. I did read some interesting stuff I’d really like to re-read but I just can’t remember enough detail to find it and I wondered if you might be able to piece it together and tell me who it is I’m after, I think it’s an old one- He’s an American motorcyclist who’s been writing articles for riding magazines for decades n decades. He asked the readers to tell him about any of the accidents they had no matter how big or small with details of what happened. He received many hundreds of responses and analysed them collating the data to give some interesting results. If I remember correctly the two that really stuck out were about severe accidents and fatalities- Firstly that it isn’t your age thats the most important factor in an accident it’s the number of years riding experience with serious accidents peaking with 3-4 years riding experience. Secondly that all recorded motorcycle accidents stats are based on when the emergency services are called which is only a tiny percentage of all accidents. Around 80% of the time the rider jumps up sharpish and gets themself and their bike home. Any ideas who this is? I’d love to look at the graphs again. -
Two boys burnt down a wing of my school. They probably would have got away with it if they hadn’t used their least favourite teacher desk as a toilet up til then everyone assumed it was an accident. It was great we had weeks off school. They landed in Borstal for it (I don’t think they were officially called Borstal by then but the term stuck) and years later one of them reappeared which caused great fear, excitement and feather ruffling. They didn’t stay and we all went back to sleep.
