Need help quickly!!
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to emmajaneg's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
I understand your reluctance to embrace the Michelin man look but if you want to stay warm and comfortable there’s no way round it. The weather at the moment isn’t that bad, you need to be thinking about how warm you’re going to be when the temperature drops significantly from where we are now or face having to buy more kit in not that many weeks time. It’s a false economy to only buy for right now. If you gather up all the layers you have and go to J&S accessories they’ll have something. Online they have jackets around the £50 mark or perhaps ask for a bit of assistance from your nearest and dearest in the form of an early Christmas prezzie. Layering is the key but there’s no substitute for a warm jacket. Waterproofs (eg trousers) are a cheap way of adding an extra layer that makes a significant difference. Good luck hope you find something decent. -
Myself. The Keis Controller that lets you choose which heat setting packed up, after about 50 miles the tootsers were not happy so I decided to plug them in without the controller. Lovely, very toasty. I have burnt the soles of my feet walking is not nice. Prat.

[strikeout][/strikeout]Grip buddies. I have these on my bike https://www.nippynormans.com/f650st-f650cs-f650gs-f650-dakar/grip-buddies-vibration-elimination-grip-covers-all-bmw-models-plus-ducatihonda-kawasaki-suzuki-and-yamaha they are driving me nuts, it slowly rotates round so you’re looking at a seam and now they are moving off the end of the grip, kinda half on and half off so I’ve been riding along and every now n then trying to push it back on which isn’t easy as although they seem to want to slide off relatively easily it’s grippy as hell when it comes to shoving it back on. Someone on here mentioned an alternative with no seam, anyone know what they are?

What's your views on biker jacket zips
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to BIKERDAD's topic in General Chat
Provide them with the zip you want. YKK zips have a good reputation. Or maybe be a bit cheeky and ask someone like Lewis Leathers what zips they use and buy one of theirs. -

You’ve nulled your own point with that admission -
Bike jeans -why?
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to Beans's topic in Clothing, Luggage, Accessories and Security
They are very good but I think very good for men, not so good for women. The material has no give in it which in the women’s cut comes right up to high on the waist, this can cut you in two when you lean forward to get low. I ended up with a pair two sizes up to give so room and try and overcome this but I still find them a bit uncomfortable lent forward. My husband has the men’s version and they’re perfect. -

Looks good, particularly the raffle prizes! So I’m not the only one who finds Henry Cole a little irritating then! I just couldn’t understand how he got the job and there’s something so incongruous about him, someone trying to be cool dropping his t’s when he says words like motorbike or mate but prounouncing other words perfectly so I googled him. He got the job because he gave it to himself. His company make the programmes. Due to no decent alternative I still watch them though -

Failed my CBT :(
Slowlycatchymonkey replied to LearnerLEGAL's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
Congratulations Generally I’m a considered sort of person but I wanted the Hilts Mutt so badly I didn’t even sit on it before I bought it I saw a picture, suddenly unexpectedly had the money to buy a bike and badly wanted to ride so I rang the dealer and paid over the phone quickly before I woke up and discovered it was all a dream or worse something else cropped up that required the cash. I didn’t even know you had to have a CBT when I bought it If someone else did what I did I’d now think wally why didn’t they do the research? Excitement can certainly cloud your judgment. Then again I love that bike and hadn’t felt excitement like that since I was a kiddy. Wouldn’t change that experience for anything, still makes me happy to think of it now. -

Evening, I've just checked the link and it's definately https://motorcycleprojects.wordpress.com Its working now?!?! Thanks -
Not sure I can make this (am going to do my damnedest to rearrange things so I can!) but thought this might be of interest to some. Lois Pryce has written some interesting bits n pieces and in the small clip of her talking I saw on an adventure programme she was engaging so might be worth the trip and moola, even just for the food! This ones about her travels across Iran. 1st December. https://billetto.co.uk/e/revolutionary-ride-an-evening-of-persian-adventures-food-cocktails-tickets-314590

I don’t think your internal speedo works properly when adrenalines present! Maybe switch on that creepy google maps thing on your phone and then you can have a look later? -

Find it hard to believe how well you’ve revived those some of those parts, I would have looked at the rusty stuff and assumed they were not salvageable! Can’t wait to see the finished article. -
My Journey Into Biking

An enjoyable read -
That made me remember I took a photo of the mud before powering down my phone because I’d accidentally taken a flat charger and had little battery left. Just checked the location on the photo it was Fosse Way Littleton Drew Chippenham. Very satisfying, it was a wonky disjointed unrideable part of the Roman Fosse Way

Was lost for about 3 hrs so no idea where I’d been even after spending yonks on google maps I was none the wiser!

Blackvue come up a lot as a good camera. If I was buying one that would probably be the one. Multiply it by 5 and it’s just too eye watering! -
From Wiki: "The Fosse Way was a Roman road in England that linked Exeter in South West England to Lincoln in Lincolnshire, via Ilchester, Bath, Cirencester and Leicester. It joined Akeman Street and Ermin Way at Cirencester, crossed Watling Street at Venonis south of Leicester, and joined Ermine Street at Lincoln". There's still loads of it left - A429, A46.. not too far from a road near you! You can tell it's Roman - sections of it are dead straight. I’m familiar with Fosse way the Roman road as a year or so ago I decided to cycle to Swindon, sounds like an awful destination doesn’t it but it would be all cross country and Swindon has trains back running every hour so it wouldn’t matter how long it took or if there wasn’t room on the train for the bike I could just wait for the next one. Some way in after Bath in the middle of bloody nowhere the garmin packed up and I was clueless about were I was. Then I happened upon a narrow road called simply Fosse. Great I’ll go on this, it’ll take me straight in the Cirencester direction and then I’ll find some signs for Swindon. Thrilled that some of the useless knowledge I have packed away was going to be genuinely useful I cycled on..... There is more than one Fosse.... This incarnation of Fosse a mile or so in turned into a narrow overgrown disused bridal path. I couldn’t be swayed from my route because there was nothing else to follow. I could turn back (now far too far in and too stubborn anyway) or push on. Took over an hour to go 1 mile. Had to carry my bike- using it to beat down stinging nettles and hedge whilst wet sludge caked my cycling shoes n legs an interesting shade of green n brown. I made it to the end to a sharp left turn long section then a right, another long section..... it’s not straight.... it’s not STRAAIIIIIIIGHT....... it can’t be Fosse the Roman road Left the house 9am got back 9.30pm. Not my finest work! So I thought when you said Fosse I’d better check what Fosse that was!

Thanks for all the replies. TimR Good tip, annoyingly its 5 vehicles and 5 drivers ££££ SometimesSansEngine You don’t use the parking function? Won’t that be a bit frustrating if a car park prang occurs that you have the gear there in the car to catch the culprit and didn’t have it set up?
