  1. Sorry I think I’ve misled you. I will be wearing my textile jacket, pants and boots, I just thought an oversuit would keep them cleaner and looking better as it’d be easier to clean the road dirt, flies etc off it?
  2. I’m starting a new job which means I’ll be commuting on the bike everyday. I’ve started thinking that I need an oversuit as it’ll keep the flies, road dirt etc off my clothes but will also come in handy when it rains. Is this the right thing to be considering or am I wasting my time? If you commute what is it that your use/wear?
  3. If you had one pint and then killed or seriously injured someone when driving home, I think you’d always be wondering if that one pint had made the difference. I believe zero tolerance is the way forward, how many people actually know what they can drink and legally drive under the current law?
  4. I use concert ear plugs made by a company called downbeats. They cost me around £5, come in a little metal tub with a key ring attached so you can always carry them with you, I’ve worn them for hours on end and they’ve never been uncomfy. I did try foam ear plugs once and they made my ears sore and also I didn’t like the noise reduction, could hear my own heartbeat I have actually used the downbeats when I went to a few concerts and it was nice to go home with normal hearing rather than being deaf and having the tinnitus ringing for the next 3 days.
  5. If I ever own a Kawasaki it’ll only be in green, I don’t know why anyone would choose any other colour.
  6. That first time you ride a big bike is amazing. Did you ride it home from Bradford?
  7. Bloody hell, how fast where you going to cause that much damage to your clothes? I thought they would have stood up better to a short slide
  8. I was walking along the canal and came across this. I’ve no idea what it is and have had a good google and can’t seem to identify it anywhere. Can anyone educate me on what it is?
  9. I probably passed you going the other way at some point. I went to Liverpool city centre for a new tyre, then decided to head up to ghost bikes in Preston via Southport and the incredibly bumpy coast road! Nice little run out though, perfect temperature too.
  10. I always use David silver spares for my Honda. You get the choice of genuine or OEM. Just had a quick look for your bike and the genuine Honda bearings are £12.50 so for that price I personally wouldn’t bother with anything else.
  11. To expand further on my last post, there were over 57000 mod 1 tests taken last year. I don't know how many incidents there were but I can't see it being a ridiculously high number. And there's an argument that it's better it happens in the controlled environment versus the old system of it being on the open road That’s a very valid point and I suppose shows that, although there will always people who find fault when there are changes to the tests, they are usually done with safety in mind, especially if you look at the mod 1 test area, You’re not going to get that quality surface out on the open road. Just when something tragic happens like this it’s easy to over think the whole situation.
  12. From what I’ve heard from someone who was there on the day, this happened during the Mod 1 exercise. I, like everyone else on here at the moment, can only summise that this must have happened during either the avoidance or emergency stop exercise. Regardless of how it happened it is dreadfully sad and my thoughts go out to the family of the poor guy. On another note, does this emphasise how odd it actually is that someone can have next to no experience on a bike and can attempt their mod 1 especially though the DAS, Or should the instructor be spending more time teaching how to actually stop a bike before focusing on manoeuvres.
  13. So I somehow managed to forget that it’s grand national day on the 7th so meeting at the racecourse would be daft! How does everyone feel about meeting at the showcase cinema on the east lancs road at 10:00?
  14. Just wondering if anyone fancies heading over to new Brighton to do the egg run? It starts at new Brighton dips at 11am heading towards clatterbridge. I was thinking we could meet for 10am at Aintree racecourse and set off at 10:15. That would give us plenty of time to get there and then follow the rest around the route. Once the route is finished we could then stop for lunch before heading towards home? Might be a good way of meeting other users for future rideouts? Anyway leave a reply on here if you’re interested or otherwise just meet me at the racecourse on the day. I’ll be on a blue Honda hornet.
  15. I’m in Aintree and ride a hornet 600 but I’m happy to ride with 125,s, I don’t exactly have the skills to be speeding away from you!
  16. You’re way overthinking it. I ride a 1999 hornet 600 which had about 97 bhp from new, so it’s definitely lost a few horses by now, but it’s still more than enough for me at the moment. You ask if there’s a way of preventing it happening, well you lose the horses as the engine wears so I would suggest, parking it In the garage and leaving it there for the next ten years, but then you would have rust, rubber degradation etc to deal with so my advice is just go and ride it, enjoy it and if/when it becomes too gutless, sell it and buy a new one.
  17. Sounds to me like you’re leaving the choke on which is causing the bike to cut out when warm.
  18. I'm looking for a few ride outs round the Liverpool/Merseyside area. I only passed my test in March, almost a mid life crisis at 34!, so wont be able to keep up many people but I'm happy to catch you all up at the destination point! Anyway let me know when you're next out.
