    Coffee

I suppose I am really a tea drinker but do like a nice cup of coffee. I have tried a lot of different instant over the years but dont really like any of them. I have a Tassimo machine and a filter press, I have tried Morrisons own number 5 ground and Starbucks medium roast. Any suggestions for ground coffee to give that shop bought taste? I would prefer to stick to the French press I already have but would buy more gear if necessary. I know its down to personal taste but how do members make their coffee? john.

    Hi from Wakefield

    Hello and welcome from Pontefract.
  4. Blame China ... they are going to put an end to loads of firms , world wide . And yet f@cking morons are still continuing to support the Chinese economy by buying Chinese bikes and other products? As I said before, we've had Huawei mobiles for the last couple of years and they've been brilliant. But there's no way we'll buy them (or any other Chinese brand) again. AFAIC the situation with Covid is nothing other than germ warfare! We've just bought a new phone from Argos. I did a bit of research online and also on You tube, nowhere did it mention it was made by Huawei. It was always referred to as Honor Lite. It is a good phone and cheap but had I known no way would I have bought it. As for boycotting Chinese goods I try to but find alternatives hard to find.
  5. Come on you lot, the bike's not rough enough to paint it with Hammerite
  6. I wanted a bright racing red or firecracker red etc. thanks for the link.
  7. Thanks everybody will check out the colours. Its hard to see the colours on the internet, they vary such a lot. I was at the paint shop yesterday but they didn't have any colour chips for base coat and lacquer. I might just go for two pack paint. john.
  8. Hi all, looking to paint an old Kawasaki er500 1997. I know its not the right thing to do but I am looking to paint it red instead of black. Its a bit of an old dog so any paint suggestions would be appreciated. Doesnt matter if its not a bike colour, something like Ferrari red or Fire cracker red etc. Ford do a nice red on the Focus. Anybody repainted a bike red and been pleased with the result?
  9. If it goes to court, (I hope it doesn't) dont do what I did and glare at the Clerk to the court. I was a lot younger then and a clever dick. This man was looking across at me weighing me up and I glared back as if to say who the fu#k are you looking at? I had no idea who he was and that he advised the old judge, long story short I lost my licence for three months on totting up.
  10. I created a dummy For Sale page page a couple of days ago and put on photos and text descriptions of a few things, it turned out looking OK but he has a lady in the office helping out but she is not really used to computers and I think she would struggle adding new items. If a pro built a website then handed it to us to use would they be able to make it user friendly and simple? I can do it for them but I wont always be available. I am hoping to ride to Spain through France this year and could be away a few weeks. "I could be gone some time" as Capt Lawrence Oates said.
  11. Hi all, looking for a bit of help, I am building a website for my sons MOT/car repair business. I am using Wordpress with the Astra template. Using Elementor I am trying to create a for sale page. I am a complete numpty with computers and am struggling a bit, when I've finished the site the office needs to be able to add and and delete stuff on the for sale page but its so complicated. I dont think they will try very hard and give up. Any ideas on how to do this simply even if it means starting again with a new template. I have looked at templates for car dealers but my lad is more into the repair side and the sales are a small part of the business so not sure these type of templates would work. Thanks john.
  12. There is only one more explanation I can think of, I have been getting used to counter steering. I find its helping me a lot with my cornering, Before counter steering I was leaning my body at roughly the same angle as the bike. Since practising with it I find I am cornering quicker and with more confidence, I find however I am leaning the bike more but I tend to still be sitting more upright than maybe I should. Perhaps the bike was over enough to catch the peg and I didn't realise as I wasn't at the same angle. Am I talking complete crap here trying to explain it to myself. The noise was loud and I should have felt it through my boot but didnt. john.
  13. Side and centre stand working as they should the switches do as they were intended. As I said before its more than I dare to lean the bike at that angle, its a complete mystery to me. The only other thing that comes to mind is this was before I changed the clutch plates and the noise was clutch slip. When the clutch has slipped before the engine has revved but no noise from the plates. I really am clutching at straws here. (no pun intended) Thanks for the reply, john.
  14. An update to an old thread, I bought a 2003 Fazer 600 12500 genuine miles in go faster red. Fantastic bike I am over the moon with it. Plenty fast enough for an old timer but as light as it is I do sometimes struggle with the weight. Bought in January this year I have done 300/400 miles on it, and am gradually getting used to it. I changed the clutch plates this week as the cable had run out of adjustment at the lever and was making the clutch slip sometimes. After changing the plates I realised the cable was adjustable at both ends and didn't need a new clutch at all. (senior moment Doh) After setting the correct biting point for me I went to the local shop to try it, after leaving the shop half a mile down the road I realised I hadn't put on my specs. I pulled into a lay by. put the specs on then cocky as you like set off, I stalled the bike due to the biting point being different (thats my excuse) and bang dropped the bike! The nose cone is cracked and the exhaust scuffed. I cant believe what ive done and am totally pissed off, it was almost a mint bike. That was this week, last week I was taking a left bend around 40/45 and after gaining a bit of confidence I was leaning the bike more than I have before and heard a hell of a scrapping noise from the road and felt it through the bike. I swear it wasn't the foot peg as I am a long way from riding like that I just dont have the confidence, I would never lean as far as that I haven't got the bottle. I came home and asked my son to lean the bike so I could see what had been scuffed, we couldnt see any sign of anything that could have contacted the road. The centre stand has a good strong spring. The only other thing I could think of was a chipping had been thrown up into the front drive sprocket and had been chewed up, I took the cover off but no sign of granite stone dust in there. This has got me beat as I didnt feel anything in my foot from the peg as I heard the noise. My confidence has been knocked a bit as I am now cornering far too slow thinking it will happen again, Maybe I should sell it and buy a Honda 50
  15. I have a Coleman dual, and a length of pipe to milk the bike tank if I run out of fuel. Fantastic little stove, Stuart Fillingham has a video on Youtube showing how to light and use it. john Found it.
  16. It doesn't work like that for the Motors section of ebay though, all you're doing is registering your interest in the vehicle. They call it an non-binding bid. Looks like some people are pretty interested! Thanks for that, I didnt know Ebay had different rules for different things. So if we see a scam in Motors we can wind up the seller without obligation.
  17. We all know its a scam but what happens to the buyers at the end of the auctions when the seller starts sending invoices. What excuse can you legally give to cock off the deal?
  18. Thanks everybody will give the unmodified coop a try as a rabbit hutch. PS I thought I might get a few amusing replies.
  19. Hi all, any rabbit breeders out there? I am looking to keep rabbits in my chicken coop (not at the same time) I made the coop quite high so I didn't have to bend to clean out and collect eggs. I made a ramp from the nesting/roosting part down to the run area so the birds could walk back up to roost. Will the rabbits do the same thing, will they use the ramp to get to the sleep feed area or will they stay overnight in the run?
  20. Ive just sold a 2012 YBR 125. I did 2500 miles on it before I took my A licence test last year. It never put a foot wrong but it looked and felt chinese, it didnt have the typical Jap quality we seem to take for granted. It started to rust including the exhaust pipes and was obviously made down to a price. It seemed a little better made than the unheard of bikes coming from china but not by much.
