  3. Did you stop for coffee? Don't think I ever took more than about 15 mins. Used to be same at school though, always ready to leave way before the time was halfway through.
  4. Go here http://www.carlsalter.com/motorcycle-manuals.asp to download a manual for your bike. There's a few things you will need to check... throttle free play, choke action etc. The manual gives detail on how to do these checks. If the idle adjuster seems to have no effect, there is something wrong with the carb. Hopefully another RS125 owner may be able to suggest what that might be.
  5. Pretty sure you should see it and be able to reach it without taking anything off. If I remember correctly it has a slot in the end so you can if you wish reach in with a screwdriver, or just about turn it with your fingers.
  6. Yes move it by hand, its quite a large black knob so easy to turn. It does seem likely that your problem could be just low idle speed. Worth trying before you get carried away thinking its something more serious.

  8. The ones usually recommended are Scala Team or Autocom. Apparently Maplins also do something but not looked at that. Both the brands mentioned get good reports from most that have used them, but both come in at around £100 per seat
  9. Cable tie the front brake lever, and forget the ground anchor, chain it to your wheelie bin.
  10. The actual questions are not majorly different at all. I passed theory in May and used only that site for practice. The wait is around 2 weeks.
  11. Any will be better than none. The best security device is visual, as its the fact that a thief sees it that will usually put them off. Opportunist thieves are lazy so will always target the least protected items. Houses with alarms fitted don't get burgled 'cos they have a dirty great bellbox on the front. Padlock a fluorescent chain through your front wheel. Doesn't actually have to be attached to anything else, casual thief will see it and walk on to the next one. How substantial is the wall? Bear in mind that if the patio is slabs, there won't be a lot to bolt into, usually just the thickness of the slab.
  12. My GSX600F lasted me 10 weeks before I got bored with it, so then got a VTR1000 Firestorm. 4 weeks later I'm sitting nursing a broken wrist so am unable to ride anything at present. Sometimes I wonder...
  13. Those 2 statements I have quoted are contradictory. And with respect, you are missing the point. The training is not JUST to get you through the test, so if you skip the training... You will never replace what you learn on training with an experienced instructor... no matter how much experience you get by riding on the road, it is the instruction element that you will miss out on. And that makes you different to someone that has paid to do a 3 day DAS lesson... since they will have received that instruction [Controversy] For what it's worth, in my view both should be compulsory. A specified number of hours of skilled instruction mixed in with a specified number of hours on the road filling in a log book. As things stand at present, it is far too easy to get on the road (CBT) and too easy to get a full licence (DAS). And as for the current setup where after 2 years restriction (A2) you can jump on a 1000cc bike with NO experience on a bike bigger than 125cc, utter madness! [/Controversy]

  16. CBT was introduced to ensure that all bikers started out with a basic level of competence. It is not, however, a test and it does not provide training to test standard. Go ahead and take the test without further training if that's what you want to do. You might be lucky, you might pass. We might be lucky and you fail, which then prompts you to access further training, and THAT will make the roads a safer place for all of us
  17. Bear in mind that lessons have at least 2 purposes. 1. To enable you to pass the test. 2. To enable you to ride safely. You can probably blag 1 with a bit of luck and some self-taught self-paced practice sessions. Do you want to risk your life on 2 though? OK that's a bit melodramatic to be fair, but it's a tough life on a bike and the training is designed to equip you to cope with it safely. Personally I would not be happy without some professional training.

  19. For budget priced helmets steer clear of HG and look instead at the independent small dealers. Take a look on http://www.yell.com or similar for addresses etc
