  1. given some thought to this, if you know anyone who has a sewing machine, you could make a harness out of 50mm webbing, create an open pocket for the cases to sit in, one each side, with the webbing stitched to the pockets to go over the seat, then just need a short strap to tie each case to the bike, simple, strong, easy to install and remove, and secure when on the bike,

  2. have you tried Bikesure, i went with them, tried Carole Nash who wanted nearly 2k, Lexham nearly £800, Bike sure came in at £600 but i had some extras added, but that is for a new rider without any no ncb,

  3. Ooh looking forward to the write up. ‘

159bhp that’s three times what you started on just a few months ago..... take it easy and ENJOY :thumb:

You're right, it is about three times the power. Thank you, and I will be careful.

Take extra care and try not to fly, and don't drink Redbull it doesn't give you wings but God might :angel12:

  4. if you do leave it for long periods, have a look at solar chargers if suitable to use, most only require daylight, and will just keep a battery maintained on a low trickle charge, i use one for my leisure battery which i have had for over 5 years and still in peak condition,

  5. Cheers for the offer, but would be very tight and with my belly sticking out would look like i'm wearing a crop top, and i wouldn't even let my worst enemy see that, would damage them for life :crybaby:

Gahhhh...... crop top, don't even need to see it, the thought's enough! :puke:

There again, can't be as bad as builder's crack!

But seriously, bike gear is a lot like a parachute..... if you are wearing it and you don't use it, so what?

But if you aren't wearing it and you need it........? :(

cheers Speedy, now i have the helmet, will see if i can get similar colour scheme for the rest of the gear, i was originally going to colour coordinate with the bike brown/cream but that is a no go for now, will save that as a treat for when i get full licence, nothing like an incentive

  6. Further update, visited J&S today, had a look at clothing to see what is available and tried on a few jackets, then spent around half an hour trying on helmets, tried on different styles and makes, and came home with a Frank Thomas flip front, i know it is a budget lid, but out of all the ones i tried on, it fits perfectly, it's comfortable, has the features i wanted, and came in well within my budget, so i am very happy :thumb:

  7. Budget around £500, £150 ish for helmet, then rest for clothing etc, but that is just to get me on the road for the summer, don't mind getting better later in the year,

If you're a medium, I can let you have a very lightly used one of these at a nice cheap price - let me know if you're interested.

  8. are you sure they are waving, and not just shaking their legs because they didn't stop to have a proper slash, just had a google out of curiosity, and you can get a type of urinal with a tube that goes down the leg,

  9. i haven't got any cover for mine, but most of my cycling is mainly off the road, as i use it when i go fishing, either on the river banks or canal towpaths, sometimes local ponds,

  10. That's the next thing i'll be looking into, which would you recommend in terms of priority of budget, i know a helmet would be first, but after that what would be next in quality, i know about getting the best you can afford, but there is a point as budget decreases options also dwindle,

Seriously, what's your budget? There is lots of stuff out there - worth keeping an eye on Aldi and Lidl. If gear is sold as protective in this country, then it must be marked as such. If it bears the right marks, then it will give you the basic level of protection that you need. Don't skimp on gloves, I've already mentioned boots and if you can find them, Aldi and Lidl jackets and trousers are good value. 2nd hand textile gear is OK if it looks in reasonable nick.... Worth checking the charity shops out.
