That’s interesting I have an nc750s on loan from the insurance company and had not thought of it. It does give about 60-70 mpg and is reasonably agile if dull. Only downside is finding one fore cheap enough, they are a relatively new model aren’t they? Is there an equivalent that is 10+ years old and therefore cheap?

I have the perfect storm around me to think of options for a possible second bike. Or possibly not. I will hopefully have my zzr600 back to fix soon, I have my Lexmoto Falcon 125 and I have a new job to start in a few months. My current job has me driving on motorways and national speed limit roads and the a45 where pulling away at the front of the traffic light cue or coming on at a slip road made the 125 feel inadequate. My new job affords me the chance to just ride urban roads and avoid congested motorway type stuff if I fancy. I can average about 50-55mpg on the zzr and 90-95 on the 125. Is there something in the middle? I could keep the zzr for fun and commute on something else. Is it just a case of picking a 300-400 cc bike? Any recommendations? Any thoughts? Just keep the Lexmoto for it until it dies as that is the only way to get any value out of it? What do you think?

I won't be doing a lot of riding for a while but I'd be happy to drop by in the spring and accompany you on a ride out to Stratford upon Avon Bike Night or anywhere South West of Birmingham . I know some great routes in that area and beyond . A bit of sustained scenic riding is just the thing to get you back on track and boost confidence. Oh , don't worry about keeping up . Remember , I ride a tractor that cannot go round corners . ( Yeah right ) Hi [mention]fastbob[/mention] I'd like that. Fortunately since the binning the borrowed bike I have put about 1400 miles on it , My confidence and stuff is definitely affected but I am not letting it stop me. I have a bit of anxiety which is frustrating given my profession but will see the vet about it I think, see if they can help. Come the spring I would enjoy a ride out following your tractor. If I cannot manage to easily repair my bike I might ask for your help also (which you can decline of course).

How long since this all happened? Ages. Update today. The other side insurance company have offered me £800 as the original value of my bike obviously I said to F off. I have provided the original listing for when I paid for it a few weeks before I got hit.

The ZZR600 is a beautiful bike and might get through your gate It’s a lot of bike too. It is more powerful than the nc750s I have from the insurance company and a lot more fun.

Zzr600. Bloomin loved mine until it got hit. I am hoping to get it back.

And society will adjust and start paying more attention to the appropriate senses given the change in presentation of the risk.

Did you lose grip? Was it a swerve or a skid?

In which case is it cheaper than a CBT. Obviously long term it is I guess, short term?

Indeed you are correct if you are confident of passing Mod 1 and 2 first time with no instruction.

I think if you want to stay 125 then just do CBT after two years. As you predict my truthful advice would be to do full A if doing test. You could spend the money you would spend on a second 125 on a DAS and then see how you feel about bikes.

That is a very valid point. The couple of thousand miles on my zzr and nc750s have all followed the same trend.

Caveat up front: I am a newbie, about 8000 miles in total over 18 months and 6 of that was on my 125. I use both brakes but not for every application. If I am stopping from speed it is mostly front brake. If I am slowing a little I might use back brake to join in with engine braking. With forward planning lots of braking is reducible and avoidable and when not the power of the front brake is unnecessary. I like to add a little brake light when I am slowing down to stop the muppets up my bum from running in to me, a little touch of back is great for that. Yammienoob on YouTube and I think Ryan fortnine both suggest learning to use both independently and together. Yammienoob suggests trying some trips just one and some just the other. I struggle to see why it is a good thing to avoid using some of the bike controls to control the bike. My instructor recently described low speeds good to use back and higher speeds good to use more front.

I only started riding in June 2018 on a 125 and then August I passed my test. I commuted all of last winter usually sub 10 miles each way. I now commute up to 45 miles each way and intend to commute this winter too.

I have an 18 month old Lexmoto Falcon and can offer unbiased review. It’s great, I love it. Some of the materials are rubbish, eg the oil cap lid thing is made of butter as far as I can tell, almost all of the screws that hold the fairing on are weak and the thread vanished if you take them off and put them back on. There was a weird electrical fault that sorted itself out. For 2k I got a bike that was exciting for me to own as a first bike, I still like it, it’s great to ride. There is no reason other than that it is a Lexmoto that is should have lost as much value as it has. I would say it should be worth 14-15 hundred pounds with 6k on the clock but likely it is worth more like 6-8 hundred. That is the biggest problem with the bike, I have lost a shed load of money. I should have bought second hand Japanese, it would have been the right thing to do. And I Love my 125. I tried watching the video [mention]dynax[/mention] but the gui seems like a tool and evidently biased.

What does breaking the bead mean?

Not from biking but from Ice climbing and winter mountaineering I have had the Hitaches before, also known as they screaming barfies. When the circulation returns to your hands (not because they warm up, you are still out there in the cold). It is a quite exquisite pain that demands to be sworn about at the time.

CBT will last for 2 years. You can get your CBT for £120 and decide later to do your test. Personally I would do full A because it costs the same to train and take the tests as smaller category bikes.

Buy the Yamaha. I bought a new Lexmoto Falcon 16 months ago. I loved it. Love it. It cost me about 300 to have the head race bearings done after 5k. But otherwise has been entirely reliable and I have not had any issues but I have lost a lot of money on it. In fact you can buy it if you like save yourself a load of money. Problem with the lexmoto ones is they lose their value so dramatically. A second hand Yamaha will be worth not lots less than you pay for it.
