  1. Yeah, perhaps it's time to just take a deep breath and take the plunge. I treated myself to tools and the Haynes manual for Xmas , also I've just has to shell £££ out on my car so canr really afford that kind of outlay on the bike the moment .
  2. Cheers. I bought a new air filter without checking the old one, when I went to swap them the old one looked brand I'm going to check spark plugs next week if they are OK I'll try the cleaning stuff. The bike starts and runs fine until you turn choke off then it dies. I tried adjusting the idle tap bit even turned full the bike just about hold onto a tick over but it doesn't sound happy.
  3. I've got Honda Hornet. What price range would you expect a carb clean to come in at? I'm not at a point where I would feel confident doing this myself. Cheers.
  4. I wonder if they will apply these new laws in the same rigorous manner they apply no cycling on the pavement laws In my town they spend a fortune and caused huge traffic issues for about a year putting cycle paths in and nobody uses them everytime I walk into town at leat 2 or 3 cyclist go past me on the pavement literally a foot away from the cycle path on the road.
  5. I remember back in 1989 I was 19 I was selling a old off road xl125 the paper work for it was long gone before I even got it. A couple of kids about 13 bought it off me thet turned up about 10pm to pick it up. About 11:30 there was a knock at the door it was the police they had seen to dodgy looking kids with a bike and wanted to know if I had sold it to them, I said yes and without any further checks or asking fir proof of ownership they said okay and let them go on thier way
  6. It does seem strange the law sometimes, last year I was going 30 on a downhill 30 mph Road and a cyclist went pass me obviously achieving more than 30 and I thought he is going faster than a 50cc scooter and he is wearing lycra shorts and t shirt.
  7. 1987 at 17 off road bought a knackered old 70's kx125 off my mate ran it into the ground then got a xl125 sold that when I was 19 never went back on a bike until I was 49
  8. Well done....that's the hard bit out of the way.
  9. Just to repeat what others have said. Don't over think it just do it, when make a list of the process it makes it look long and complicated but it's not. My 14 year old daughter did a taster session at the school I learnt at and she had starting, stopping and gear changes sorted in about 15 minutes. When you go pretty much the first thing you learn is finding the biting point and moving off and stopping, then gear changes after , you'll be fine....just book it
  10. I did my CBT at 49 and passed das last July. Best decision ever wished I'd made it at your age ! Just crack on. Google schools in your area and have look at reviews of them. You will probably find that any decent school will do a taster for you before you do your cbt. If not just do it anyway, it's great fun and you will definitely find out if biking is for you. Then obviously go and do your das ASAP
  11. Wow, I did not know that. I was under the impression they wanted to talk to her to answer thier many questions about what happened and what was going to happen.
  12. Facebook Marketplace
  13. I bet it's got f**k all.
  14. The picture alone sells this beauty .
  15. I have been following this and it really has made me very angry. How the USA whipped her out of the UK and refused pretty much to give and help at all and in fact seemed to do all it could to stop her having to take responsibility for her actions. At one point his parents went to the US with what they believed was to be get meeting with her but she didn't attend even though she was in the same building as as far as I know she has never directly contacted or apologized to his parents only in statements read by lawyers. She's just a coward hiding behind red tape to escape justice for what she did....I maybe and hope I am wrong but truly believe absolutely no kind of justice will be served against her
  16. Mine took up moaning but it's good to have a hobby I guess.
  17. Next week , why you should never flush or put the toilet seat down !
  18. That's a difficult one to answer, why does she not want him to get one ? If it will be a financial burden on the house hold or he is a reckless car driver or risk taker then you can understand why she wouldn't want him on a bike. But if he has training, wears proper gear, has decent life insurance and can afford it then ge doesn't need to convince her he just needs to explain that he has taken the previous steps and is going ahead with it. Or just go ahead anyway - As the saying goes it's easier to ask forgiveness than permission ! Where I did my DAS they have a storage unit full of bike that peoples other halves don't know about. They rent the space and people pop down for a cheeky ride without their other half ever knowing.
  19. Se here. I did mine last year had one test cancelled because of covid and when I turned up for my second my CBT had run out
  20. Congrats ! That has got to be a weight off your shoulders....time to go bike shopping
  21. What I would suggest is go out early on a Saturday/Sunday morning when the roads are empty the more you ride the more confident you become, then as you get more confident go out later when traffic starts to build and carry on the process until you are happy to ride at the busiest time of day.
  22. Have you passed CBT or full test ? I found my confidence riding alone was not great after CBT but after doing full license training and tests I was fine.
  23. Not at all. When I was training i saw plenty of people who had never been on a bike at all do CBT and a DAS and be on a full license in just over a week. One guy never been on a bike before a week later he passed and bought a mt10 he has been riding over a year now without incident.
  24. Yeah, seen the pics pop up on sites today. Not a fan at all.
  25. That's the one I remember.
