  1. Will check them out. Also, looking around, I see Knox are doing a protector that they don't call d30 but that they say 'locks' on impact.
  2. About 9 months. The protectors don't feel especially hard. I suppose I'm looking for supersoft.
  3. I have a Knox protection vest with elbow and back protectors and I really like it because it means I don't have to have protection for each different jacket I use. The problem is the elbow protectors -- even though it's far from a cheap bit of kit, they're absolutely killing me! I like to wear jackets reasonably snug, as you're supposed to, to prevent ballooning etc. This inevitably means a bit of pressure on the elbows, though nothing dramatic. It doesn't feel extreme when riding or walking around, but later on and next day it feels like I've been through the wringer. I thought I had some sort of tennis elbow thing going on until I realised it was the elbow pads. Does anyone have any pointers for decent, more flexible protectors that I can slot in? I've read somewhere about the ones that are pliable but harden on impact... are they any use? I have the same issue, but to a much lesser extent, with the knees. I swear it's not age!
  4. I thought I'd seen a Fortnine video a while back on the topic of music and distraction, but I can't find it. Basically, as I remember it, the science says that music engages a different part of the brain to riding, so it's not a problem, unlike, say, looking at navigation apps. Google brought this up -- https://canadamotoguide.com/2020/03/30/the-distraction-of-a-motorcycle-intercom/ -- quite good, it makes a distinction between active and passive listening.
  5. Don't doubt it. Maybe I messed up on the address.
  6. The doors riders on the storm Willie Nelson, On the Road Again. Really!
  7. I'm a recent convert, sort of. A while back (see other thread) I bought an ultra-cheapo headset that works brilliantly with the phone apps. Tried it for music on a mountain twisty and I lasted only a couple of minutes, as it completely freaked me out. But a couple of weeks back I had to do a few hours of motorway in the dark. I was messing with the controls on a layby and accidentally turned the music on. I am now a Billy Eilish fan, as she kept me not so much entertained as awake! I've tried it since and found that quiet music -- i.e. not Bat Out of Hell -- on not too loud works well, but only a very relaxed ride. Most of the time, though, I wouldn't bother.
  8. Brilliant idea. Is it a shopping centre or a city authority, I wonder.
  9. Tiktok is Chinese. Hence the Donald's getting in a big flap about them.
  10. Anti glare screen savers go along way to help... Must check them out
  11. Have to say I'm struggling to see a compelling, killer reason for a dedicated satnav here. Phone map apps are light years ahead of just a few years back. Power and screen visibility are not insurmountable issues. Then again, I'm just an old tightwad.
  12. Just had a look at that... great resource thanks! Will be consulting it before doing anything 'big', even though I have the shop manual for the bike.
  13. Yes. I didn't see that I omitted see, you see. Sorry for any confusion caused.
  14. Weird. I can that on my phone, but not on my PC. You can what? Can you not see it?
  15. Weird. I can that on my phone, but not on my PC.
  16. It's previewed at the top of the screen -- a big white arrow on black, with distance to the turn. Click on that and the map disappears. Instead, the upcoming set of six turns or so is displayed. Not as clean and funky as the Beeline, I'll admit.
  17. Waze is google online based. Yes, Waze is based on Google maps, which can be downloaded in Google, so I suppose it works offline in those circumstances. Not certain though, as it hasn't been an issue.
  18. I like the look of it, and the simplicity. But I'm not sure it will do anything that Waze can't... Waze has a mode with just arrows showing the next turn too.
  19. The only reason for me. And I don't have a garage.
  20. Yep. Standard engine oil - after a convincing comparison of options by Fortnine. I had been using aerosol chain lube but it badly gummed up the thing. Hoping this is a cleaner fix.
  21. I put the Gidibi on the Interceptor yesterday. Followed a youtube vid, as the instructions supplied were of the Ikea image-only type and completely useless. A bit fiddly, but seems to be working well, after a half turn to get going on a just-cleaned chain, then after that stopped a quarter turn. My main concern was that it wouldn't stop dripping, but it did each time. I put the reservoir on the frame above the swing arm rather than on the handlebar because I don't want to have to look at it all the time.
