Scrapping old electrical loom and starting from scratch?
eastanglianbiker replied to thevoyager's topic in Pitstop
on a custom build it could of had a lot of things moved so the original loom doesnt reach/fit any more you can build your own loom without to much problem just remember to check if any wires in the original loom have resistors built inline in them under the tape -

as its the cv carb check the condition of the diaphragm in the top of the carb and yes mixture screw setting works the same way
-
mixture will very possibly need setting up now you have changed the jet do a basic set up on it to start with turn mixture screw all the way in until it just touches then turn it out 1 1/2 turns as in 1.5 turns and see how it runs then you can slowly adjust it from there also check needle height in the slide

a 110 will allow more fuel in so could be flooding it making it run to rich get a standard one they are very cheap

if i cant get the clutch fixed in time on the harley (yes its broken again) then i will definatly be coming up saturday in the car
-
has t he main jet fallen out or blocked as its at about 3000rpm the transition from primary jet to main jet takes place so it could well be carb related check its all clean check the needle is set correctly and make sure the slide in the carb is moving freely and correctly located,if its got a cv type carb on it then check condition of diaphram

The cost of a spruce up?
eastanglianbiker replied to Mawsley's topic in Old Motorbikes, Projects and Restorations
far more than the bike is worth if you are going to give them the bike to strip from full bike to nothing to do the frame and swinging arm then you are more than likely looking at at least 2 days labour at a minimum of £40 an hour i would of thought then the cost of blasting and coating frame and swinging arm is another £100 roughly then a quality paint job and graphics on tank panels tail piece and fairing if it has one could be another £600 by time its finished -

you will notice the hot air more in this weather as the fan will cut in more often to cool the water in the radiator and it will be blowing out round your legs if the gauge is saying its at normal temp then it should be nothing to worry about
-
if its unrideable get them to come and collect it after all its under warranty
-
would need to take it off and clean all traces of oil away before any kind of chemical metal or similar can be used but i dont see why it shouldnt work its either try that or get new casing
