  1. if its turning over well it might be worth undoing the drain screw in the bottom of each carb and checking that clean fuel runs out of the float bowl drains, once it does shut them off and try starting the bike again
  2. older bikes can be a few ££ to run but are often much more fun as you would be more willing to work and learn on it yourself rather than paying shop in case you damage something we all learn as we go along and with help from others so hopefully running costs can be lower for old bikes than new its just a pain when you seem to get hit with 4 or 5 things needing doing at same time but once done they are normally done for the life time of you owning it
  3. unless the cable is sticking up slightly due to being damaged internally at some point a new clutch shouldnt slip at any time unless you are an absolute thug with it but i wouldnt of said there is enough power to make it slip unless its not adjusted correctly eith on the adjuster or the cable isnt returning fully.when you pull the cable in and release it again have you tried pushing the clutch arm slightly to see if there is any travel left in it
  4. which rod do you mean the selector rod that passes t hrough the case or the one that connects to it ...pic?
  5. does the red oil light come on on the dash when you turn the ign on if not then thats the wire as the others have said you need to find t he other end and join it back up if you waant the dash working correctly
  6. if you fitted ne plates then chances are you need to reset the free play as op said because you now have thicker plates in there meaning less free space than before
  7. the more you scrub/rub it the more metal you are removing if you cant afford to treat it and paint it or replace it then best to leave alone if it doesnt last untill you sell the bike you can always get a patch welded over area that rusts through but chances are no one would buy it like that or it will reduce value of bike come resale time so you will still end up buying new one
  8. where the pipe is rusty the chrome has gone and its the bare metal rusting that was under the chrome there isnt a lot you can do to it either just clean it best you can and leave or paint it otherwise only way to get nice shiney chrome again is to replace it
  9. ignore that pipe out of the airbox its just a drain pipe
  10. while the tank is off the bike check that the throttle cables are located in their holders correctly as you might of pulled the open one out of place and its caught on top edge of its locater, when you look atthe cables where they connect to the carbs the end of the cable outer is normally silver and you can only just see it if you can see the whole bit then you have got to replace it into its adjuster correctly
  11. as tango said you need a volt meter across the battery to check voltage because if its not bringing any lights up at all when you connect it either you havent connected it correctly or its flat or the main fuse has blown,or if the bike has been left uncovered all winter the ign could of filled up with water and damaged the area that makes contact to turn bike on but my bet is duff battery
  12. well the chrome is already ruined by the fact its now got heavy rust on it one way round it is to buff it up best you can with wire brush in a drill and then treat to a coat of heat proof black manifold paint or change it and buy new downpipe
  13. setting the tickover will be easy look into the carb area underneath the carbs you will see a black knob turn it clockcwise to increase the revs and anti clockwise to lower them
  14. make sure the cables are still routed the same and you havent pinched them round the tank area also it might need tickover adjusting due to the extra fuel and air thats now getting into it
  15. lets be honest s lot of the time we are(or should be) watching whats going on around us and might miss the nod unless its like matt says from front to back wheel i often flash full beam specially if on fast roads and dual carriageways
  16. make sure the vacuum pipe is on correctly and not perished at the end where it fits the fuel tap and also that the tank vent is open and clear
  17. i would think it would need to be more than that to be honest as i said earlier i would adjust the tight spot bit of the chain to be the correct free play(slack) and ride it for 5 -10 miles and then see how it looks then you dont need to ride fast or hard just get it moving and settled in and see how it looks then
  18. sounds like your fridge is working more like a freezer might need to buy a new one that will cost F**k it
  19. check the rear sprocket by making some sort of upright from floor touching side of sprocket and see if during the rotation of rear wheel it moves the marker at all
  20. i would adjust the tight spot to be the correct tension so slacken chain off slightly then ride it for 5 or 10 miles and see how it is then
  21. if the tight spot on the chainis in the same links as chain revolves around the sprockets then it sounds like a faulty chain to me if the tight spot is always at the bottom or top of the chain even after turning it round a bit then its alignment, dont always rely on the markers on the swinging arm take a measurement from centre of swinging arm pivot bolt to centre of rear wheel bolt and each side should measure the same
  22. if its a tight spot in the chain then its not an alignment problem as that would create a tight spot in the same place regardless of where wheel is but im assuming the tight spot is traveling as you rotate the chain might just need working in or could have a link pinched to tight when chain made in factory
  23. adam think you are getting confused mate roadtorque is over chester way think you are thinking of roadrunner maybe, but anyway for the op last time he was about on here was last september if that helps at all

    Suzuki B120

that machine mart one is no good for you as its for 4 stroke compressors.personally i would go with 10w/40 in the gearbox which is a fairly standard motorcycle oil and then make sure you have got either 2 stroke oil in the 2 stroke tank or premixed in with the petrol
  25. good chance that was the problem dont forget to leave the new plates soaking in oil bath over night is good gives them plenty of time to soak oil in then
