  1. and if its fuel injected it wont have a reserve setting will have light on dash and or fuel gauge
  2. will it not bump start if there is a little bit of life in battery ?
  3. dont forget that the fuel tap itself sometimes has a gauze filter round it inside the tank as well as the one in line between tank and carbs,to do the one in tank you need to drain tank and remove fuel tap if it has one fitted
  4. normally you will have run at the bottom off on the side and res at the top then look at the arm you move on the tap and it should have an arrow on it when arm facing down down arrow will be pointing down to on position
  5. depends on the bike kawasaki from the 80's right up to almost 2000 were known for it its play in the basket you could change it and 6 months later the noise is back
  6. im sure alex said somewhere he is running z rated tyres and they are not allowed to be repaired
  7. well i know its a common conversion on the blade and on a lot ofthe old suzukis as well as seen on oldskoolsuzuki as the frame spacing is within a few mill of being the same and yes some fit a lot easier than others just need to make sure which side the shock mount bolts are on the swing arm
  8. you dont need to submerge the whole wheel just the bottom of the wheel to cover up to just above the tyre bead watch and slowly turn it in the water that way you dont get the bearings wet
  9. not much help really apart from it would of originally been single seat i think looking at it one of the forum members called gautrex might be able to help out more as he is into early british bikes
  10. knowing where you are might help but it sounds like you are going t o need a tape measure to check frame spacing where sing arm will mount then you have to decide if its mono or twin shock you are going for after all the vfr single sided swing arm fits most of the modern hondas with little modifing so it depends how good you are with a bit of engineering
  11. if i remember correctly there should be a dial/knob near the left hand side panel that is the adjuster for the shock easy way to tell is look on ebay to see how it looks complete off the bike then look round your bike failing that good old mr haynes will tell you all you need to know
  12. daughter fell down stairs holding her daughter snapped leg/ankle bad enough it needed to be plated up and she couldnt put weight of any kind on it for a couple of months ended up with scar like this both sides of ankle and plate in for good
  13. this sort of thing is good for plastics as well http://www.rivetwise.co.uk/rivets/rivet ... s-steel-25 in the correct size of course
  14. needed one small a/f allen key had to buy a 7 piece but at £4.99 retail and only £3.13 with trade card im not moaning every penny saved helps
  15. the bulbs are normally sset in their own rubber boot so you dont dismantle the clocks just pull the rubber boot out of the rear o them change bulb and refit into clocks, chances are they will be a pain to get to
  16. was going to say pre 85 as its twin shock and not mono shock
  17. mid 80's 6 volt electrics were not very good i had the cb100n way back in the dakness of time and it had the same kind of problems on tick over with headlight on indicators wouldnt flash and same if you braked and hadlight dimmed its all fairly normall for the bike engine should keep running tho
  18. bandit rear calipers are very well known for seizing up and often need stripping and cleaning so in my mind altho yes it is an easy job if the garage are only going to charge you £20 then let them have the hassle of cleaning the caliper up
  19. think you will find pistons are not same diameter as the 600 so will need to buy rings for the 400 and before buying them check the bore for wear as you might need to upsize the pistons to +20 or more so extra cost again but not worth just doing rings without measuring and checking if its within limits
  20. if you are none to sure drop tc1474 on here a pm he is legal expert and will guide you along
  21. gautrex is the man to ask about tank repairs if i remember correctly he has just had or having one done that was really bad but talking huge amounts of money as its not just a case of welding seam back in it normally have to remove section of tank make up new section weld it in can see y folk run a mile from doing them
  22. wasnt a kawasaki zepher by any chance was it
  23. more to the point if the chain is clunking and wearing through nylon sections that are intended as giiudes then i would be checking the chain tension and cleaning it and lubing it as it sounds like its slapping about and running dry
  24. what tank is it how bad is the leak and have you checked how far up the side of the tank the rust goes, its often easier and nearly always cheaper to get 2nd hand tank
  25. all you can do is check gearbox oil level as this is totally seperate from the engine being a 2 stroke, air filter clean and chain correct tension, all lights working, fork seals not leaking when you bounce them up and down holding brake on.Not much else you can do to a 2 stroke really as there is no oil filter for the engine being a 2 stroke
