I have never seen a static battery voltage that high its always been around 12.6

Depends on the battery type and manufacturer. AGM batteries can be well over 13V when fully charged.

13.16v? is that after standing all night?

Not coming straight off a ride or off a charger?

As that is too high you should be seeing 12.6 ish

13V plus doesn't sound high. My bike is currently at 13.1V and hasn't been ridden for 6 days.

On group rides I nearly always take the lead and one of my mates commented that he very rarely sees my brake light come on other than light trail braking on the twisty bits

I usually touch my brakes even when I don't need to as a warning to following vehicles that I am slowing down

  4. I am not sure why you want to repeatedly take them off. My priority was comfortable for walking in when I stop. While I have some Daytona ones for wet winter riding, my preferred ones are Falco short boots. I have a winter pair and summer pair. They are reinforced in various places with D3O over the ankle. They are laced but you leave the laces done up and unzip them once you have laced them to your liking. The winter ones are waterproof but not the summer ones.

  5. I don't know the answer but the padding in my wife's helmet started to fall apart after 30 years so she had to buy a new one. It had been sitting in a cupboard for ages, so not affected by UV light.

I only change mine when there is a good reason. My latest change was to get a flip-front, not due to the old one being 15 years old.

  6. One of the problems is knowing the local rules. Where I live you can park in a car pay-and-display spot without paying. Ride 30 miles and you can't - you need to find specific, free motorcycle parking or streets where it is free to cars

The airflow alone through the front in the cold weather is more than enough to stop a motor heating properly

The fan didn't help matters thats for sure

That's probably true, and probably simply radiated heat from the engine.  I had a Honda Prelude many years ago and in winter if I didn't reach 50mph it wouldn't provide enough heat to warm the interior.  I guess the water thermostat stayed shut.  My wife's Fiesta turbo is the opposite - after a few miles at slow speed it is belting heat out into the cabin.

Many moons ago people used to block the front of radiators to restrict the air flow to help cars warm up and stay warm

That was before they discovered electricity.  The fan was running continuously even in the middle of winter.
