  1. I have always been an arai man. My current is the josh Hayes rep arai chaser and thought it was really good. Til I bought the shoei xr1100. The xr1100 is brilliant. Especially with a whisper kit fitted. I hardly ever wear the chaser now.
  2. My Nokia n8 was ace as my bike sat nav. But the response was a tad slow. My galaxy s3 has better/faster sat nav but is shit on the bike. It can't cope with cornering or accelerating or braking without flipping the screen from portrait to landscape every time. So I have kept the Nokia for use on the bike.
  3. good choice. thats all i will use.
  4. each has their own tastes. personally i buy leathers to protect my ass in the event of a crash. if these cheapo "fashion wear" have been tested and certified and come from a reputable bike gear stockist and not a market trader then feel free to purchase. if you dont mind the thought of badly built and un tested leathers bursting apart upon contact with the floor then i suppose £200 for a suit is fairly cheap. i think i paid a tad more than that for a pukka full race suit made by BKS at the BMF. i know what i'd rather place my trust (and body) in. decent protective gear isnt cheap and cheap gear isnt protective.
  5. Cambridge motorcycles.. that's my mate Phils shop.
  6. Aldi are currently selling cheap bike gear. not sure i'd opt for theyre own brand protective gear, (they have kevlar jeans, helmets and armoured textiles) but i have just bought some of their thermal wind proof base layers and for the pittence they cost vs the quality, i would reccomend them.

    Fuel Cap Vent

I'm pretty sure wd40 would do zero harm to your engine or carbs. Why would it ? Especially a tiny drop that might slash into the tank. Id be more worried about the crud falling in.
  8. you have checked the connection to the battery havent you? including the other end of the negative, where it joins to the frame?
  9. id rather have the bad knee thanks.
  10. back in 2010 i missed most of the riding season due to tearing the cartledge in my rleft knee and not being able to bend my leg. this was finally operated on in 2011 and i have been slowly returning to full fitness since. running in the gym etc guess f**king what... ive now torn the cartledge in my right knee and need another operation. f**ked Off doesnt even come close to covering it! surgeon recons i'll be operated on by early june so at least i'll have a bendable knee for the summer trip around europe, all though i suspect, i'll be eating pain meds like smarties.
  11. New indicators have nowt to do with a dodgy relay.
  12. its a 125 so it should bump start fine so you can at least use it. chris is right about connections. check the battery terminals too. you will struggle to turn it over with a naff/half charged battery. get/borrow a charger and ensure its fully charged. if you cannot be bothered to charge it then bump start it and go for a very long ride. if your indicators were an advisory when the bike was running then it highly unlikely to be a flat batt issue, my first port of call would be to replace the relay. they only cost a couple of quid. but, if you wait til youve checked all connection and have a charged batt then you'll jknow for sure.
  13. my heart says rossi to win but my head says lorenzo. cal will be lucky to finish in the top 5. as for pedrosa, in the past, has struggled to mix it elbow to elbow without getting hurt or un-nerved. it will be interesting to see how many times marquez rubs paintwork with him before he gets injured and misses a ton a races.. however, id like to see what happens when marquez tries to force rossi from the racing line. i think marquez will emulate lorenzo's antics in his first season. bloody quick mixed with silly crashes and a dissapointing (given the hype) overall position.
  14. Especially so.. If I remember correctly... don't you work in a petrol station lol
  15. You live and you learn... If it is down to your ham fists then you'll have a cheap fix but it doesn't answer why it originally stopped running.
  16. Have you stripped and cleaned the needle jet ?
  17. It def sounds like carb issues. Have a look at this pic. It may help. http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g257/hmmmnz/carb.jpg There's a myriad of things that you can mess up in carb on top of the things that can break all on their own. Such asThe diaphragm could split the pilot jet could be blocked. The vacuum hoses can perish etc . You could have innavertanly adjusted the mixture or even knocked the float height. Check that the inlet manifold is loose or split. Just to add. When I had the bike the one and only fuel issue was when the choke cable snapped. Electrical issues where limited to a defective plug cap on the front cylinder that was losing all the spark to the cooling fins. This caused rough running and was fixed with a new plug cap. Neither should be causing your issues and From your description of the fault my 50p bet is that there is an issue with fuel getting from bowl to cylinder..

    Bandit Bobber

Mine has a neutral light and an ignition light so I know if the powers on. It has no key so I need to know if it's on lol.
  19. I have some scales so I'll weight it tommoro but I reckon front ends don't get much lighter than modern sportsbike ones unless you can afford carbon wheels. I'd like ti say you could have it on loan but unfortunately I am feeling the financial squeeze at the mo as I've just bought yet another car.. I'd class it as cheap seeing how I'd let it go for £350. Folks on ebay are asking that for just forks. But all things are relative and if that's beyond your budget I'll stick it on ebay. Just out of interest , why are you opting for a heavy and underpowered bike as a base for a lightweight speedster? Does it have to be air cooled and pre 1990? Gsx are nice bikes but are not famed for their masses of power where as the oil cooled bandit 12 lump is cheaper to buy than say a gsxr11 one and chuck out a fair amount of grunt. I can't wait to follow this build..
  20. i do have a spare front end going cheap... a complete rsv 1000r front end. USD forks, stem, bearings, yokes, bars, levers, wheel, tyre, disks and brembo brakes. all you'd need to do is have your stem pressed into the botton yoke or modify the aprilia one to fit your headstock.. i was going to tranasplant it onto my chop but have decided to keep the R1 frontend thats on it instead.
  21. ive got a pre '90 gsx... but its a 400f. lol.
  22. i am genuinely gutted that we live so far apart. i would love to get my hands dirty on this project.
  23. i take it that your still up for the alps and (maybe) portugal in july?

    Knee Down

depends on your bike, your flexibility, the fit of your leathers, the camber of the road, the size of your bike compared to your body build and your confidence in physics.. some will question the above but trust me, getting your knee down on a bike that is either way too big or small for you whilst wearing leathers that dont allow for your immobile hips and legs to get into the correct position makes an awkward task nigh on impossible. as perfectly demonstrated by me whilst hunched up on a tiny little track prepped cbr600 at silverstone. from my impression of "captain immobile on a mini moto" you never would have guessed that i used to be a kneedown junkie. some bikes are really not easy to lean right over and will resist your efforts where as some bikes will drop into the perfect angle of dangle with almost no provocation. true, it is fun when you first do it and youll grin from ear to ear when that slider grazes the tarmac but youll soon learn that it makes bugger all difference to quick road riding and will not make you faster.
  25. thats man porn. youre making me feel friskey.
