    re jeting

Put the jets or carb on that a 150 uses?
  2. Loads of pix please. Go to Trollstigen, Geirangerfjord, Flam, Atlantic Road and anywhere else in Norway.
  3. You wouldn't get marks like that from rotation of the clutch hub.
  4. Yes, you can dress the shells, the caps just hold the shells in place. Lightly polishing the scratches will spread the oil film across the journal and not around the journal in a narrow strip.
  5. Check ALL the rings, including the oil scrapers. Check for overlap of the separator and staggering of the scrapers. Check bore diameters at various heights. Clicking the big ends front to back would have told you if wear excessive on bearing caps. Remove shallow scoring on caps with fine wet and dry.
  6. Did you click the big ends before splitting them? Shells and journals look OK to me. Pistons not badly scored. Some burning at top. Need to remove rings to check end gaps, as discussed.
  7. Thanks for trying mate.
  8. Troy from the forum turned up this morning with an armadillo bike cover for me. Couldn't let him leave without helping out in the garage. Engine out.
  9. Dunno mate. Depends how greedy he is. Less than £50 I would guess.
  10. Easy repair for a decent Welder. Polish around weld after and maybe powder coat.
  11. Uttoxeter for me.
  12. The cheaper the donor bike, the more it will cost you to finish it. Spend a bit more to get parts that don't need major refurbishment and much more cost.
  13. Yeah, thinking about it, the social side is the most important. Can ride wherever and whenever. A big enough function room, decent food, good beer, somewhere to dance and sing. Our exclusive camping area would be good, a few power points for the caravans and decent toilets and showers. Oh and well done GoG and Stu for doing this again.
  14. That looks OK depending on how worn the pads are. The reservoir should be as level as possible. If the pads are due to be changed, I wouldn't top up the oil level.
  15. Not sure about the venues. Are there some good biking roads nearby?

    Fork clunk

I think we've exhausted all the logical possibilities, so it must be aliens.
  17. Still waiting on engine parts from the USA and still not enough room in my garage as a proper workshop, so I thought I'd swap engines on the road/sprint bike. Managed to bend a few valves last year, so I'm swapping the 1075cc, 105 bhp ET engine for a newer, lower mileage 1134cc, 120 bhp EFE engine that I bought in Eindhoven 18 months ago. First easy job was to remove the exhaust system, footbrake and clutch actuator so I could remove the modified heavy duty clutch basket and plates and the high speed oil pump gears. Took the clutch cover off, undid the pressure plate spring bolts, removed the pressure plate and then the friction and steel plates. At least 3 steels need replacing. Pictures uploaded not in correct order.
  18. Starting is an issue as you probably have fuel in your sump.
  19. Do not start engine!!!! Drain oil from sump and check for fuel. My fuel valve passed fuel through the carbs, into the airbox, then into the engine. I fixed it by fitting two separate valves. One for main, one for reserve. You may be lucky and sort it by cleaning the fuel tank valve, replacing the diaphragm and cleaning the carb float valves. ER5s do this a lot.
  20. Thanks Westbeef. Ive always used a converted spark plug as a positive stop to determine exactly where TDC is. I also use a degree wheel, but if you use a measuring stick of some design to find out where the piston is before and after TDC, you can find exactly where it is and which line is correct. I've usually found that the T mark is accurate as long as the groove in the back of the indicator isn't worn. Bell me for more info?
  21. Don't buy the rings until you've checked your bores, the existing ring end gaps and the piston top and skirt clearances.
  22. Could be a phase gone down from the alternator. Test all three phases between phases and to earth.

    Germany

I enjoyed Garmisch-Partenkirchen in July for the BMW festival.
  24. You may need a tool to remove the old filter. You could risk using the old seal. Get the oil as hot as possible before you drain it and make sure you remove the correct drain bolt.
