  1. As I said, if the bike is on the sidestand and you turn the handlebars, you can usually get it something like. It's not an exact science.
  2. Wrong! You can turn your handlebars to get the fluid level at the correct angle. The position should be comfortable for applying the brake lever. As long as the small hole inside the reservoir is always covered by oil, under all circumstances, then the position is adequate.

Nope. Looks fooked to me. I'd try a second hand one and check the wires from the alternator and battery.
  4. A leak down test will tell you whether it's rings, valves or seals that are leaking. I've got one, but still need a compressor. Remind me where you are mate?

Something blocked on the tick over circuit. Strip, clean, blow through both ways, rebuild, test.
  6. Youre welcome mate. Any other probs, just ask.
  7. Tiny bit of progress and possibly a big purchase from USA. Bought this today.

    Iceland

It's not that cold in Iceland in summer. We were there in August, it was 65degrees f and the girls were paddling in the north Atlantic.

I towed my caravan around it for two weeks. Fantastic place. I saw a guy on a 600 bandit, but most use off road bikes or GSs. Route one needs regular maintenance, so watch out for some very bumpy roadworks.
  10. Never seen spacers for sale, but you could either use loads of stainless washers or buy a length of ally tube with 8mm inside diameter and saw it to length. Have you got an estimate of total length needed, ie tube length plus spacer length plus thread length in frame?
  11. Probably M8 or M6 threads. Measure the depth of the threads and the length of the the mounting tubes in the sissy bar. Try to measure the diameter of the threads.on the bolts you have. When you have all the dimensions, post on here, I may have some spare stainless bolts and washers.
  12. Thanks.
  13. So you agree with what I said 3 days ago?
  14. So what force causes the tyre valve to get ripped out and why?
  15. Nope, think Google needs updating.
  16. Still don't get it, can you explain?
  17. Used to be centrifugal until the smart alecs discovered centripetal. Explain the difference Alec?
  18. Don't leave the longer, heavier versions of these on the valve. Eventually they will rip out the valve with centrifugal force.
  19. I transport my bike in a Transit van, so I don't do long motorway miles and I'm good if the weather is bad. I get the bike out where it is dry and sunny.
  20. No mate, you need to pump something in there with a small nozzle.

    I broke it!

Why did the nut come loose and what have you done to stop it happening again?
  22. Some friends did track days at Almeria for a few days. I can ask what it costs?
  23. Come on Joe, how many times do you think a stone could be thrown into those windows? They do look good and are often made of toughened glass or thick plastic. The clutch one may yellow eventually, ask on the Bandit forums?
  24. You'll be lucky to buy anything new for one of those and nothing secondhand. Why didn't you buy a secondhand Japanese bike?
  25. I'll be out this weekend and every weekend, unless it's snowing, freezing or pi££ING it down.
