I have a mate in Tyldesley who will sort it, but you will have to get bike to him.
  2. Excellent course, did mine at Bromley. Some town and countryside riding with two riders and two coppers. Great classroom training and good lunch included. Worth every penny.
  3. You should be able to do that job with any decent quality tools. Try Halfords Professional sockets at a good price. Personally, I buy spanners from Aldi and Lidl and have never had a problem. A good 3/8 ratchet and sockets from Halfords should do the job. If bolts or nuts are really tight, use a strong arm instead of a ratchet. If you end up cracking a socket, buy an impact socket.
  4. Done this loads of times and never cracked cast aluminium, ever. Especially as the shock load is on the steel bolt.
  5. Remove rounded Allen bolt by hammering in a slightly too big torx bit.
  6. Nice. Did a service on one a few months ago.
  7. Yes Bob that's me.
  8. I'm in the Romney Marsh area?
  9. Every filter I've ever bought includes an O ring.
  10. Lightweight. Get on with it!!!

    jury duty

I did it for two weeks at crown Court. Only in court for about five hours. Interesting in court, boring out of it and no phones or tablets allowed in the jury room.
  12. Can you remove the breath guard,?
  13. As thick as will fit in the centre hole in the pivot. I've sat on my blade with M10 studding through it. Better than just using the sidestand.
  14. Does your bike have a hollow swingarm pivot? If so, I used to use two SDS drill bits, a length of steel bar or studding through the pivot or rear wheel spindle, resting solidly on two axle stands.
  15. I strongly recommend that you don't work on the bike while only on its sidestand, unless you leave it in gear and tie it down so it can't roll off the stand. Sometimes you have to persuade the head to come off.
  16. What they say. I have Shoei and HJC helmets. Good fits and comfort. £140 for my HJC.
  17. Why don't you buy a clamshell cover or summat that you can work under? At least have a bike cover, then you can do some work and if it starts to rain, cover the dismantled bike up. You don't have to do all the work in one day.
  18. Put crank at top dead centre and cam markings in correct position before removing cams.
  19. My mate has a triumph rental business called Motobox, based in Hildenborough near the A21. www.motobox.co.uk
  20. Grease gun on bleed nipple.
  21. Clearances may change according to how bad the valve faces are. Undo in the opposite sequence to torquing up, start at the opposite corners and work inwards.
  22. When you compress the springs, sometimes the collets won't release their grip on the collar. Just give the compressor a tap with a metal hammer to shock the steel parts apart.
  23. A slightly magnetised screwdriver is very useful. My magnetic wand has too strong a magnet.
  24. It's fairly easy with a valve spring compressor and a pair of tweasers.
  25. I have a SPQR valve lapping machine that you attach to a drill. Makes valve lapping quicker and easier.
