  1. It will be odd being there all on my own, in the bar, in fancy dress, singing my heart out........
  2. Halfords digital gauge, much easier to read and going by a comparison with the local garage's fancy machine, accurate.
  3. That is me all sorted, cooking, camping, fancy dress, the final pub tags for the challenge and arriving on Thursday evening. Is anyone else going to be there Thursday?
  4. I have found that I need one of these to get petrol station air pumps to fit onto the valve on the bike.
  5. I have seen cars stopped in the outside lane and thought unless the car is jammed so it cannot move, why stop there? Even a flat tyre or engine cutting out means coast into the inside lane hard shoulder and put hazards on. It is deceptive to have a stationary vehicle on a motorway lane, you can end up very close before you realise it is not moving. Hence at least hazard warning lights are essential.
  6. A valuable lesson is watch out for people who stop vehicles in dangerous places. What was that car doing? With the boot open, maybe changing a tyre? You should drive to a safer place on a flat. It also shows why countries where cars have to carry and use a warning triangle is a very good idea.
  7. I have a number of complaints with PIRC (the Scottish review board for complaints about the police). I did a count of the results of their decisions posted on their website. They sent 50% of complaints back to Police Scotland to do again, because of the original complaint was not dealt with to a decent standard.
  8. My experience of the custody visitors was they turned up at times, 4-6pm, when they knew hardly any prisoners would be in. I wish they appeared about midnight when things were really kicking off. I now work delivering community meals (meals on wheels) and there are unannounced food hygiene inspections, so it does go on in other places of work.
  9. I have used numerous covers and found I have to replace them, no matter the make and cost about every 18 months or so. That is why I now use the Ghost Bikes £20 cover. It has the advantage over more expensive covers of allowing far more ventilation around the bike. Expensive, fully waterproof, very elasticated covers that almost go down to the ground just trap moisture inside.
  10. It is worth noting that the numbers dying in custody has dropped considerably over the years. From a high of 62 in 2002, it was 20 in 2016. Training and awareness has improved. I never had a death in custody during my time there, but there was one when I was off duty. The final verdict was that the lady would have died even if she had been in a hospital at the time.
  11. The actual figure is 1,059 for custody deaths and 1,619 in total including deaths during pursuits since 1990 http://www.inquest.org.uk/statistics/deaths-in-police-custody I am not sure about convictions. The US police shoot and kill on average around 900 people a year.
  12. People who swallow drugs or fail to stop driving and make off, when they know they are being stopped by the police, are entirely responsible for their own actions. Those who try and shift the blame onto the police are supporting crime and criminals.
  13. A couple of suggestions. Unless your aim is to keep to the coast, the A90 to Frazerburgh is a main artery full of lorries and buses. I would suggest diverting off it at North Water Bridge and heading to Fettercairn and then the Cairn O'Mount B974 and wind your way north via Alford to Fraserburgh. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Stracathro/Cairn+o'+Mount,+Old+Military+Rd,+Laurencekirk+AB30+1HB/Alford/Fraserburgh/@57.2301695,-3.4888809,8z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m26!4m25!1m5!1m1!1s0x48868451aa206ccd:0x583cc3f90fda534e!2m2!1d-2.617207!2d56.777071!1m5!1m1!1s0x4884280ad96d4d53:0x6614ef880f5c751d!2m2!1d-2.5776565!2d56.9161596!1m5!1m1!1s0x4884336218836669:0xa20781a234ac3d8b!2m2!1d-2.704753!2d57.233323!1m5!1m1!1s0x48837fd867aed7d5:0x726d7387002dae11!2m2!1d-2.007631!2d57.693352!3e0 For the ride south from Glasgow, take the M77 and then the A76 to Dumfries and the A709 to join the motorway at Lockerbie.
  14. At least the law on possession of acid in public is being looked at.
  15. It is mad that the policy is to let the scooter criminals ride without fear of intervention.
  16. This is horrible; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-london-40604002 the shits on scooters spraying acid as they ride around committing crimes. You tube is full of them, even videoing themselves. The police have yet to come up with a solution, so has anyone got any suggestions? Mine would be get police on motorbikes, smaller trails bikes so they can get about like scooters, but are faster and go after them. Patrol the side streets and estates in groups and seize all scooters not registered and being ridden by the owner. Stop and search constantly, looking for suspect items such as battery angle grinders. Make possession of acid in a public place without reasonable excuse the same as possession of an offensive weapon.
  17. Cooking for me is fry up in the morning and tins of chilli in pots in the evening. Lunch will be when out and about.

    Chains and WD40!

I have been using WD40 to clean chains prior to lubing, for years, with no issues.
  19. I agree with the advice to buy and try until you find one that fits and works.
  20. A Thursday arrival for me and then Friday is a ride to finish off the pub tags.
  21. I think not going all the way to the ground helps with ventilation. I am sure corrosion issues ended because moisture is no longer trapped inside the cover. It fits a Versys 1000, just. I have to lower the screen to get the strap to clip under the bike.
  22. The cover has split, but that is 18 months it has lasted, which is as much as I was getting out of more expensive covers. So, I have bought another, £18.99 delivered.
  23. The Coach House Inn, Balfron, Throttled and Jnr. The main sign was inaccessible due to parking restrictions and the presence of the local police. So it is the little red sign at the side door.
  24. Jay and I have each got one of these. We got ours off amazon for something like £30 and they're bloody marvelous! That looks like one I got from Decathalon. I also have a smaller one from Aldi. Between them I can charge the phone 4 times.

    Mod Gig

I was wondering why TMBF had a thread about this http://www.acgmod.org/ aka "The Mod", aka the annual Gaelic singing and dancing competition. http://www.ancomunn.co.uk/acguploads/images/Devine11.jpg
