Scores updated, sorry for the delay and sorry, you are in 4th place GOG -
I had a 1.2 Punto, most reliable car I ever owned. In three years the only thing that failed was the windscreen wiper motor suddenly packed in. I too undertake, a lot, due to using the motorway near me a lot and at points it is up to 6 lanes.

I meant to say the Highway Code is quite clear Rule 160 be aware of other road users, especially cycles and motorcycles who may be filtering through the traffic. These are more difficult to see than larger vehicles and their riders are particularly vulnerable. Give them plenty of room, especially if you are driving a long vehicle or towing a trailer And then as far as compying with the rules are concerned, a judge will look at these key points and look to see if Rule 165 was complied with Rule 165 states You MUST NOT overtake if you would have to cross or straddle double white lines with a solid line nearest to you (but see Rule 129) if you would have to enter an area designed to divide traffic, if it is surrounded by a solid white line the nearest vehicle to a pedestrian crossing, especially when it has stopped to let pedestrians cross if you would have to enter a lane reserved for buses, trams or cycles during its hours of operation after a ‘No Overtaking’ sign and until you pass a sign cancelling the restriction. Laws RTA 1988 sect 36, TSRGD regs 10, 22, 23 & 24, & ZPPPCRGD reg 24 And these are the points I covered in my piece. So if those elements were complied with, then there is no doubt. From a civil law point of view, the only other issue that does pop up from time to time is where the rider has filtered past a vehicle close to a junction on the right and the car turns and a collision occurs. This is where there will be a valid argument for contributory negligence on the part of the rider, but the courts have usually found the car driver to be primarily liable as that driver still has a fiduciary duty of care to ensure it is safe to commence the turn. Simply saying that they turned on their indicator is insufficient. In thesse cases it can go 70/30 or 60/40 in favour of the rider, in some cases I have seen 75/25 in favour of the rider, but again it comes down to circumstances and evidence. I do not see where that shows clarity on what is filtering and how it differentiates from overtaking.

From another topic about zig-zag crossings and filtering, I think there is a cross over between filtering and overtaking and it needs to be made clearer which is which. I think that filtering is moving between vehicles all moving or stationary but will move in the same direction, so on the motorway, a dual carriageway or one way street. It would also apply when on a single carriageway one lane in each direction when both directions are stationary or queuing and moving occasionally and slowly. I think anything else is overtaking, so where your side of the road is stationary or queuing and moving occasionally and slowly and you ride past, that is overtaking. The Highway Code is not clear; "Rule 88 - Manoeuvring. You should be aware of what is behind and to the sides before manoeuvring. Look behind you; use mirrors if they are fitted. When in traffic queues look out for pedestrians crossing between vehicles and vehicles emerging from junctions or changing lanes. Position yourself so that drivers in front can see you in their mirrors. Additionally, when filtering in slow-moving traffic, take care and keep your speed low." "Rule 211 - It is often difficult to see motorcyclists and cyclists, especially when they are coming up from behind, coming out of junctions, at roundabouts, overtaking you or filtering through traffic." It is not helped by legal advice which treats the two as synonyms; http://www.markthompsonlaw.com/motorcycle-filtering-through-traffic/accident-and-personal-injury-case-examples/ "The case of Powell v Moody (1966) found the motorcyclist to be 80% to blame for an accident where a motorist collided with the filtering motorcycle. The circumstances were that a motorbike was slowly overtaking a lorry which had waved a car on to pull out in front of him on the main road. As the car pulled across the front of the lorry to turn in front of it the motorbike collided with it." That is not filtering, it is overtaking a long queue of traffic. I think it is important to differentiate between the two as bikers claim filtering as a legal right, when in fact they are overtaking and so need to comply with the Highway Code of not causing other vehicles to have to adjust speed and position and to watch for merging vehicle and junctions.

They look just like trousers, rather than over trousers. I always change once I get to work, clothes under motorbike kit is way too warm and bulky. I have waterproof over trousers and jacket but that goes over my motorbike kit, not just clothes.

GOG is definitely over excited!

I have never seen anyone shop from a supermarket without using a bag. Weird.

I ended up with a bit of road rash when I did not bother zipping or using braces. I would say either are essential. -
I think some people are arguing past each other. It is true Chinese bikes can be badly made, poorly copied designs. It is also true there are better ones and in the future even better ones again will appear. So both sides are correct.

An overtake like that is explicitly a NO according to the Highway Code Rule 167 DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users. For example approaching or at a road junction on either side of the road where the road narrows when approaching a school crossing patrol between the kerb and a bus or tram when it is at a stop where traffic is queuing at junctions or road works when you would force another road user to swerve or slow down at a level crossing when a road user is indicating right, even if you believe the signal should have been cancelled. Do not take a risk; wait for the signal to be cancelled stay behind if you are following a cyclist approaching a roundabout or junction, and you intend to turn left when a tram is standing at a kerbside tram stop and there is no clearly marked passing lane for other traffic. So it is not an illegal act, but have an accident and you are stuffed, it was your fault.

Paid for three nights, but do not know yet of that will be Thursday to Saturday like last year, or if I will come on Friday and leave on Monday. Can I leav that for now and book with the site later?

I once searched a tank with a snake in it during a drugs search. I was the only one out of 6 of us who was prepared to do it. It is still the only time I have touched a snake. I did not find any drugs. -

We have a veranda and I put a hook to hang the cover off. -
There was an interesting piece on the news about some farmers are starting to struggle because to replace the immigrant labourers many are having to pay the living wage, which is higher than the living wage they could get the immigrants to work for. I hope that is repeated across the entire economy and everyone gets a windfall that lasts and is not going to encourage waste spending. Waste spending is buying things that hardly get used.

I think £3k is well spend on a holiday and a motorcycle. Life is also for living.

The Versys exhaust is tucked under the bike, so it is not an issue. Sorry, I forgot about that. -
Bill gates is worth $84.1 billion. He has donated $28 billion, but that is over 13 years, so each year he donates $2.15 billion, or 2.6% of his wealth. I would prefer to see him pay tax at say 40%. I would also prefer not to have to wait till he is dead to see the rest redistributed via an incredibly wealthy charity.

There is an up side to such stories. Just like all the people who got PPI and other mis-selling payouts and many who get inheritances, spending it like wildfire helps to keep the economy going with spending. Spending that creates jobs and in the end £200k was distributed by one family to lots of people, so helping to pay their wages. Meanwhile there are also plenty of people who on getting a windfall do pay off their mortgage and release extra spending for the years they would have had to give to the lender. They then drip feed the economy by spending. It pretty much amounts to the same thing, the difference being with the former it is all at one time and with the latter it is spread out over much longer. The real problem are the eight people who have as much wealth as those 50% of the world population below average world wealth. Those eight people sit on much of that wealth or keep it close by. They also make sure as little as possible is redistributed via the tax system. If those 8 went bonkers mental and started to spend and give away the lot, there would be a massive redistribution of wealth. But they buy luxuries off already wealthy people who sell luxuries like massive yachts. They give a pittance away to good causes to make it look like they are decent people.

I agree that you should get a new chain now, or you will have to get a new chain and sprockets later.

The cheapest, most effective way to keep your hands warm are food preparation gloves worn as inner gloves. I had glove failure during a wet cold motorway ride and stopped at a service station. A nice lady from Mcdonalds gave me a pair of the food prep gloves they use. Once my hands were dry and warm from the toilets hand dryer, I put on the food prep gloves and then the wet gloves. My hands stayed warm for the rest of the journey. IME there is no best value winter glove, you have to pay to keep warm. So layering, with inner gloves to trap warmth and waterproof over-gloves for keeping out the wind and that can be done for about £30.
