  1. Yes it is illegal. Your experience of riding starts with the CBT.
  2. I would recommend the Frank Thomas Kinetik Sport. Leather, lightweight, good ventilation. But try before you buy as sizing is an issue. http://www.jsaccessories.co.uk/gloves/s ... black.html
  3. I have not found any evidence to say stickers harm helmets. Just people saying they heard it somewhere!
  4. Nice one, RantMachine and Kitty for ending your duck. Come on the rest of you! Make the best of the continuing good weather.
  5. Scone Palace That's the south of Scotland completed.
  6. Will you be naming this mechanic? I can name you one in Paisley who I can guarantee, as your truly is his able assistant and tea maker
  7. Go for Thatcham or Secured by Design rated cables/chains, at least they have been tested.
  8. I have a Shark Evoline as I prefer to ride open faced. The Shark gives a good degree of protection when open, more so than actual open faced helmets and if the weather is rubbish or speeds go up, I can close the chin bar. I did recently find a closed faced helmet I do find claustrophobic as it has a big visor, the AGV K3. I use that when i know the weather will be rubbish and for my short commute.
  9. Your visor needs a good clean if the droplets do not clear. Get some soapy water and paper towel, soak the paper towel and lay it across the visor and leave. That will clear muck without rubbing in minute scratches.
  10. You have seen one! My Hein Gerike gortex jacket and trousers. They have never leaked.
  11. IME experience (and I have a lot of it riding in the rain) unless you spend tons of money, get a waterproof over jacket like the Spada 912 unlined for about £40. As for the visor, Nickwax Visor Proof spray for about £6 lasts the longest, which is still only a few trips per application. It makes the water bead and then the wind blows it off.
  12. They were attention seeking. That is why I ignored them. They hate that.
  13. My left toe is black after a metal ramp fell on it. The ride home yesterday was agony trying to change up gears. I am going to be off the bike for a while. F**k it!
  14. Big relief. Its funny, now I have met you (and the others) I hear your voices when I read your posts And then with me you just picture me in my dragon onesie eh? Which considering what you did with that basset hound has caused me to suffer from PTSD.

  16. I am checked it on google maps, 1599 miles. The trip back from the relatives was 425 miles. Yesterday and today I am going nowhere, but back on it tomorrow.
  17. How about aiming for ones you have not been to to take you on new and interesting roads? I know GOG put tags based on recommendations for best biker roads, so some seem in an odd place, but all lead to a great place to ride.
  18. I think everyone should aim to at least do their own area. I have Scone Palace left to do and that is the south of Scotland for me.
  19. There are bungees with tough plastic hooks from Halfords (and other places I presume). A dry bag is also a great way to pack a tent without having to try and stuff it back into its original bag.
  20. This was discussed at the rally, so i thought I would add a thread on using dry bags on your bike. Mine are from Lomo http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/rucks ... sacks.html which is a rucksack that you can take off the straps and it holds 60l. It is £21 plus delivery. The other was a 40l from Aldi and cost about £14. Here they are on the bike (without top box as my son was on this trip) They contained two self inflating mattresses, a fold down stood and my big tent, which is two man plus space to put the motorbike. They strap on easily with bungees and keep your stuff dry and I think more secure from prying eyes and coming away from the bike. Lomo do a range of dry bags and holdalls that are all under £30 and include a bike specific 40l one for £11.50 plus delivery. A search of ebay finds a 70l bag for £2.28 plus 99p delivery (worth a punt in anyone's money) http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20-40-70L-Wat ... 58a4cf0fb2 So time to end scary looking piles of kit bulging out of a bungee net and get a dry bag or two.
  21. I figured that and look forward to next year. The bikes show how such a disparate group of people in terms of age, jobs, background can come together and get on so well.
  22. which was the minor one, and nope, there was no speeding whatsoever Glad you made it home sound! Never asked, as you was behind me would the exhaust be too loud if pulled? I don't know. They tend to check to see if it has a road legal stamp on it. It is rare for a stop to involve the correct sound equipment, as in I have never seen or heard it happening. The main thing is, will it through an MOT? If yes, tell the police that.
  23. Loads of laughs, seeing Abraxix92 in a dragon costume being sucked off by a basset hound that had creeped up behind him and got hold of his tail. Then Mya (Littlecat's daughter) exclaiming on seeing GOG in his clown costume "I am scared of clowns and that one has an axe"! Donnie Brasco is so bad at karaoke he is brilliant. A super ride out with Yorbandit leading and Tango bringing up the rear. I was behind Ricky on his YZF 125 for a while and I clocked 87mph! It was great being at the back and seeing all the bikes in front winding down the lanes. I can official say I saw only one RTA law being breached and it was a minor one. The maximum speed was probably an error on my speedo Huge thanks to Littlecat for adopting me and the food Everyone else, it was superb.
  24. Wales, the whole lot in three days Castell Coch The Miners Arms (Me Ol China Tea Room, which does not exist anymore, just this sign hidden in bushes) Y Caban Bodedern Memorial (what it is a memorial to I have no idea) Leighton Hall Gateway Caernarfon Castle Portmeirion The Winding House Blaenavon Bala Archway
  25. A few more have been added
