  1. I use winter gortex gloves with Knox cold killer inner gloves. But the tip of one of my fingers still gets cold, even if all else is fine.
  2. I might do a couple more as I have some time off, but I think GOG is safe as this years winner.
  3. Happy birthday and enjoy the music!
  4. Clean the chain regularly. It quickly picks up crud from the road in the winter. Learn how to take off the front sprocket cover so you can clean in there as well. It traps the crud into an oil mush which the chain runs through. I spray the chain with WD40 to loosen the crud, rub it with a dish brush, wipe with a rag and then lube it. My YBR was a battle with rust and I had a tin of Kurust and Hammerite to touch up any that appeared. If the bike has been treated with ACF50 it is best to wash it with just a little car shampoo and cold water or else it will soon wash off.
  5. I agree that just a few cm can make a whole load of difference.
  6. The best visor solution is called pinlock, a second skin that is secured onto the inside of the visor. As for glasses steaming up, you want good ventilation so keep vents open in the rain. http://www.pinlockshop.co.uk/
  7. x2 for Lomo. I use the 60l rucksack with velcro straps so it can also be used as a dry bag bungied onto the bike. When I use it as a rucksack I keep the straps loose so the weight rests on the pillion seat. Very well made, totally and utter water proof. http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/Dry-B ... gs-uk.html
  8. He had an injury accident that damaged others property (the fence he went through) and so it should have been reported to the police. This one was a miss, a clear mistake and is not reportable. I hope that distinction makes the difference.
  9. Yes, good for him posting that. If he had moved to the kerb side before deciding on whether or not to do the last overtake, he would have seen the truck and not gone for it.
  10. Did you soak it in WD40 and leave for 24 hours? P.S stop crying and man up.

  12. In a couple of years time, as you ride confidently around on a big bike, you will think to yourself, I wish I had chosen a different user name!
  13. I use pressure washers, but stand back so the bike is getting a mist spray, not the jet blast.
  14. RigsVille and CB999, you have brought back fond memories of doing Lincolnshire with your photos. I loved riding on the flat roads.
  15. When I was a new man rider, I did exactly the same as you (apart from no cigarettes and lots of coffee)
  16. You can use it for both, but not all locks like that will go on all discs. The only universal, will fit all disc locks are like this http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... prod/74354 I think that kind of lock is fine for out and about, but at home I would want something beefier and that will help with your insurance premium.
  17. I would go for anything Thatcham or Secured by design rated. I use this by Mammoth http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... prod/74294 and their concrete in ground anchor http://www.sportsbikeshop.co.uk/motorcy ... prod/74305
  18. Ah, Sunday is not doable for me as I would be looking to be heading back when you guys are arriving!
  19. Me, hopefully, as in I still need to be doing Mondays to Fridays next June. And be able to get the Friday off would be good, or else it will be a late night arrival.
  20. Where is Squires and is there camping? I am OK for most weekends.
  21. Any photos? How have you found the screen?
  22. I forgot about that. I had a two hour go around the yard before I took my CBT. Still feels like yesterday
  23. In between CBT and the two Mods comes an theory exam and hazard perception test. https://www.gov.uk/driving-theory-test/ ... test-works The theory is multiple choice about the law, safety and situations you could find yourself facing when on the road. The hazard perception is watching video clips and clicking when you see a hazard.
  24. Yes. The morning starts with stuff in the class room as they have to assume you have never driven on the road at all, not even a car. So they go over the Highway Code, some law and some hazard perception. Then you spend the rest of the morning in a yard where you are shown the basics of how to push a bike, get on it and the controls. You then get to ride about around cones and start changing gear and using the brakes. Have some lunch and then you go out with an instructor and a radio link and ride around the streets. You spend about 2-3 hours riding around and around going left, right, round a bouts etc. You will be in a small group as the instructor can take up to three people at a time. So drivers know to keep clear
  25. Get a bit of wood or a stone and put that under the side stand to make the bike more upright. Then lift from there and it will go up straighter. My stand looks just like yours and it will kink over. Once up I will straighten it by lifting the bike slightly and pulling it so the stand can straighten. I agree hooks make it easier and the bobbins are cheap Hooks £5.50 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MOTORCYCLE-RE ... 58aaeed1ba Bobbins £9 http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from= ... ns&_sop=15
