  1. Atf and acetone worked a treat on mine, soaked them overnight in the stuff. Didn't even need to disconnect the oil cooler. Read on the Internet about how bad the header bolts were, tried them dry with a socket set just in case I had gotten away with it or a previous owner had copperslipped them. Put as much pressure as I dared on and they wouldn't budge, I was aware of the engine having to come out and the studs be drilled out and the engine helicoiled if they went. Googled good penetrating fluids, almost settled on plusgas, until I found a few references to atf and acetone. A lad I work with used to have a automatic car and had some aft knocking about, £1:50 for some acetone and 2 spray bottles from the pound shop (acetone melts the seals) bladdered them over night, then the next morning they come out a piece of piss. Couldn't believe it, most things I try like that I read on the Internet are bollocks. I couldn't recommend it more. Just be aware they separate, so you need to shake it like mad before applying.

    Yet another problem

Though it's not pleasing to see you experiencing issues... its not half teaching me some stuff about my bike. I just realised where a stray rubber pipe now probably goes. The one that runs past the airbox and comes out near the swinging arm? That's the overflow for water, you'll see the drain hole when you open your tank, and if you look in the tank at an angle you'll see the pipe running through it. The later bandits had a breather on the bottom of the tank, The mk1 breathes through the filler cap. I've got a second hand tank the same colour as mine coming some time this week. After that I think it's time for flogging, got another bike lined up, had 12 months trouble free out of it, now I'm having issues its time to get it straight and get rid.

    Yet another problem

Not very, there's no fuel pump so it's literally just the opening for the fuel nozzle. Stupid design by suzuki. Stuck between a rock and a hard place now as, I need to sell it to fund the ktm, but need to fix it to sell it really as the bike wouldn't fetch much as it is as id have to sell it for spares and repairs. I need to get a second hand tank for it and hope it doesn't suffer the same issue.

    Yet another problem

Yeah, I'd just come to this conclusion before I logged back on here, the water in the fuel and leaking petrol all clicked into place. Mini eureka moment. If I block the drain hole with my finger, then blow up the overflow tube I can hear bubbles in the tank. That's a new tank job I'm guessing, there's no way to sleeve the copper pipe without splitting a rubber tube so I wouldn't have a good seal, and I can't force a rubber pipe through the copper one as its tighter at both ends than the internal diameter of the pipe. Only want to fix it to sell it.
  5. Got fuel pissing out the overflow pipe, it's not overfilled, if I remove the tank and tip it forwards, it stops, but the second I put the tank back where it should be it starts again. Never done this before although I've been nowhere near it when repairing the fuel tap. If I take the hose off it leaks out the tap the hole fixes onto.
  6. If anyone saw the conclusion to my thread on the reserve issue would have seen my tank was half full of water. As such I've drained out the carbs and a load of shite came out of them. I was wondering how long I should leave the fuel tap on prime? When I come to rebuild it on Wednesday. It's a vacuum fed tap, so on and reserve only work with the engine on, then prime bypasses the diaphragm and lets fuel drop straight through the tap, it's for filling the carbs up if you take them off, but I'm also aware if it's left on too long petrol can make its way into the sump. What I can't find out is how long is too long? Just changed the oil, so I would really like to not contaminate it if at all possible.

http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/03/15/606827e6a10d495887e00e5bc40d8c73.jpg Inadvertently solved it. Must have nipped a seal when putting it back together yesterday, noticed it weeping petrol from the tap when it was in situ. Seal kit doesn't arrive till Wednesday, so I decided to strip the tank, offered the neighbour the petrol that wouldn't fit in my Jerry can, as I didn't fancy leaving a tank full of juice in the house. After filling the Jerry can I used some old 2 litre bottles to transfer the juice into the neighbours car, that's how it came out, so clearly that's sitting in the tank enough so that I can take the good stuff off the top when the tap is on, and when it's on reserve its pulling the crap from the bottom through, hence it running shite. I'll put the tank back together on Wednesday, fresh fuel and see if the carbs have a drain on them I can use in case any of that shit is in the float bowls. Must have been building up for some time, weird how it's only just become an issue? The seal round the filler cap appears ok?

    Baffled.

Well, stripped it down today, the actual tap side looked ok, put the tap on prime and can blow through it with some considerable force, so I'm confident theres no blockages, the fuel tap head came off and confirmed this. The only thing that looks a little past its sell by date its the diaphragm. It's not pierced in any place it just looks aged, so I've ordered a new one, not sure why it would effect reserve only though. Surely it would run naff all the time.

    Baffled.

In the process of tidying up the bandit a little before I go to sell. Last weekend I went out, and when I hit my second reserve of the day it started bogging down a little, put some more fuel in, fuel tap to on and it runs fine. Just given it a service since the problem developed, new air filter, new plugs, oil and oil filter, there's no inline fuel filter fitted. I took the fuel tap off the tank when I had it off to get to the airbox. I put a finger over the vacuum tap, and blew down the main fuel tap with the tap in the reserve position, a load of jelly like crap came out, all over my face. After this though I could blow through it freely. all back together, went for a ride, switched to reserve after 30 seconds starts bogging down again, back on to on, as soon as the fuel gets through it starts running fine. Should I rebuild the fuel tap? New seals? if it was carbs or anything surely it would run crap all the time, not just on reserve?
  10. no NO NOOOO I get p*ssed off with all the people sitting IN the f*cking ques. You are ALL MAKING IT WORSE! I actually witnessed it today too, and wondered why the hell people are so weird. Oncoming traffic was at a stand still on an A road with two lanes (the sort that have 2 lanes for maybe half a mile), but NOBODY (apart from two lone motorcyclists) were using the second lane. Everyone wanted to que. Anyway, on the way back, a similar thing happens, but this time there was a BMW in lane 2, speeding through a 50, overtaking everyone who was sat in lane 1 doing 30 in slow moving traffic until he released that actually, there are road works up in the distance, so instead of using lane 2 any longer, he jumps straight into lane 1 and slows down to 30mph like everyone else. Why? Why do people do this? Why don't people use both lanes for as long as they can? Councils have actually got to the stage now where they put up signs saying "use both lanes" Using half of the road available only increases the length of the traffic jam, which in turn (especially near roundabouts/side roads) causes unnessesarry jams on those roads too First instance, approx a mile and a half of a three lane duel carriageway. Inside lane branches off into the town Iive in. The outside two lanes carry turn right onto the main road into Bolton. All three lanes congested, but the outside move marginally quicker because it can handle two lanes. You think the road would function better with everyone being in whatever lane they fancied and only becoming concerned where they want to go at the last possible moment? Get real. In actual fact what happens is 99% of the drivers get in the lane they actually will need when the road splits, then some cheeky ***** decide to use the fact the outside two lanes move marginally faster to then jump in at the last possible moment. Also the second instance I'm on about, where the m61 splits into the M60 two right hand lanes become the m60, the inside lane branches off to become the east lancs road, you see no issues with people driving down the inside lane to beat three miles of congestion and jump in at the last possible moment. The only reason that lane moves faster is because the volume of traffic is probably split 95% motorway and 5% for the East lancs, again, if everyone used all three lanes then tried to cut in it would create a bottle neck, the traffic would move slower, which in turn would back the motorway up even further.
  11. He sold the rights to the bbc in 2012, so it's not like they can just go to another channel either
  12. Every time I work away I tell myself I won't go out, then I spend half an hour in the hotel, and wake up the next morning with a banging head, serious damage to my bank account and no recollection of what happened. I hate it.
  13. I can feel a few building up. BBC not showing top gear on Sunday, it's the only thing I watch on their channels, so shouldn't I be able to not pay my licensing fee. Pubs, chippys and supermarkets advertising for apprentices, if it takes a week to become competent at a job it doesn't warrant an apprenticeship, it's slave labour. People who try and bypass a congested lane and jump in at the last possible moment, then look at you like you're in the wrong for not moving to make room for them. (A roads not motorway, and in the van not on the bike) the reason I've been sat in this queue twice as long as I should have been is because of impatient w**kers like you. f**k off and find an alternative route. Been a good day
  14. People pass their test off straight after CBT, it's not unheard of. I imagine you'd be fine, then again I don't know how you ride and what your nerves are like.
  15. I might need to borrow some of these quotes then Gaz lol If it gets to that stage pm me with some more details and I'll see what she says. I reckon your best bet would be to appeal to their better nature though. Any senior management you're friendly with? Especially if you need the reference. Or is there any management you could get to write you a reference on the side before you walk out? I've done that before. Especially as the divide between a director and a foreman is huge. I've had it questioned once, and in my case I just said 'would you rather me get a reference from someone who hands me a job sheet for 10 minutes a morning once a week, or from someone who I've worked with extensively' I find that more relevant to my abilities. See it's a twat, because if that company were to go under you could find yourself out on your ear the same day, yet they expect 3 months from you, they do it knowing most prospective employers won't want to wait 3 months to have a position filled, albeit under a disguise of tying up any loose ends for them. It's a crock of shit imo, if I've handed my notice in somewhere I would do the bare minimum required of me. Wouldn't bother my arse about things or get stressed over problems like I do currently. Imagine that attitude for three months!
  16. Problem with this is how would he know, most people never see their own reference.
  17. They can't not pay you anything. It's unlawful to withhold any wages you are owed or holidays accrued. Basically all you would be sacrificing is a reference. They may try to withhold wages, but you would win if you contested it. It's unlawful to not pay someone what they have already earned. Not only that, it's screwing over the tax man, as they would have to pay tax on the monies owed to you, by withholding money, not only are they not paying you, they are withholding money from the tax man. If you contacted HMRC if they did withhold it, they would get investigated, and if found guilty (which they would be) the tax office would nail their hats on. Most people would just accept not getting the money, but if you start to explain things like that they will shit themselves for want of a better term. My dads Mrs is a company director who specialises in employment law she has to make sure the company abide by the law in any disciplinery proceedings to make sure they don't leave the company open to tribunals. I've had similar dealings in the past. Although I walked out of a job before I chinned someone. They tried to withhold my last wage and holiday pay owed which was about 19 days at £80 a day at the time. I got the entire amount within 3 days of a meeting I had with a member of their HR team. I just used a load of stuff she'd written down for me in the meeting.

    Tax Refund?

If you ring them and sort it, it will end up in your next wage. Tax year is April to April. Usually end up with it in April/may.
  19. I think I've gotten Friday till Monday off, thought it might be a wise move.
  20. Haha you can't arrange it then drop out
  21. Now we are reaching the dizzying heights of 12 degrees on Saturday, and Sunday is going to be a wash out, does anyone fancy getting out and about? Could do with giving the bike a good send off before it goes
