If you are open to suggestions, get one of these, concrete it in, gives you something to chain your bike to. If you put it on the side stand side of where you will leave your bike you can also run a ratchet strap from your bike to this, that would help hold it down in windy weather http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/17/bef1e5b5507986880fd67fd707b29f9f.jpg

I read that back what I put, didn't intend for it to come across so argumentative. I've just mixed some up now, the acetone sat on top of the oil, gave it a shake and it mixed together. I've given the bolts a spray just now, I'll spray them again in the morning and see how they take to it. I bought a few cheap spray bottles from the £1 shop because I reckon the acetone will eat the seals in the pump mechanism. If it works I'll buy a chemical proof spray bottle.

It won't fit, you'd need to cut and weld it. Like mr fro said, it's for a hollow rear axle. A lot of motocross and enduro riders remove their side stands to give more ground clearance, the stand you've bought is intended for them to be able to stand the bike up without having to lean it against things. It looks like hollow metal anyway, I very much doubt it would have the strength for the support you are after.

It's not just one or two sources, it's all over the Internet. I was just looking anyone who had first hand experience. The thing stu found is what everyone seems to refer to, apparently a load of bolts were soaked in water to rust, then various penetrating fluids were used against the control of cracking them off without using anything. The ATF mix came out on top. You're right that they don't mix, they seperate left to their own devices, you combat this by shaking the bottle before using it. As far as the R+D is concerned, I very much doubt the large companies would come out and say something along the lines of, you should still buy our product, but there something you can knock up at home that's infinately better, it's not like you can copyright mixing together two products is it? I'm going to try it anyway, I'm not going to swing off the bolts, if it doesn't work I'll try plusgas. Like I first stated, was just looking if anyone had tried it.

Yeah, I know, I use it to finish welds on vinyl.

I'm from horwich, I go to the barn occasionally, doing a few jobs on mine over the next few weeks, and working a fair bit of overtime too. I'm always up for getting out and about though, hopefully this bout of shite weather will pass soon and we will get a few decent weekends. I'm not interested in riding below freezing. There's no fun in trying not to fall off.

Well I got that far I've driven cars plenty, safely in fields at a max speed of 20mph. Yeah the reduced visibility irritates me. why do cars need them stupid pillar things in the way grr Yeah, The clutch thing I need to work.. so frustrating trying to learn my way around a car in comparison to the bike.. haha, yeah I'm cool with that, only gonna be driving in rain and shit weather.. Bike the rest of the time. Hate cars, I get car sick Bikers do make better car drivers, well unless they cant break bike habits to get used to it.. Would love responses from bike to car drivers.. Might have better tips (no offence lol ) Had bikes from being a kid, and spent 18 months on a road bike before passing my car test. I found it quite easy, left hand side of the body deals with clutch and gears, and right hand side deals with acceleration and braking, same as the bike albeit laid out differently. Two completely different things as far as driving and riding is concerned, the main thing I struggled with was killing off speed, I could get round a left turn down a side street at 15-20mph without any drama, I actually tried that on my first 'lesson' in the car, ended up on the wrong side of the road, luckily nothing coming the other way. Resulted in a monumental bollocking, and an afternoon spent getting it right. I didn't use an instructor though, my grandad was ex motorway police, and he taught me to drive, couldn't have passed any quicker, started learning when I booked my theory and 8 weeks later I had passed. In a shitty 1.3 proton with no power steering. 3 point turns were fun. It's practise mainly. I was driving every night and for a good few hours at weekends when i was learning, not feasible with an instructor, but maybe your mum could put you on her insurance as a provisional driver and you could get some hours in that way. Ask the insurance company what the crack is when you've passed too, some charge extra, the one we used didn't, but that was about 9 years ago now.

Has anyone tried this stuff as a penetrating fluid? I've taken delivery of some downpipes to replace mine and apparently the bolts into the head on my bike are notorious for snapping. I want to give myself as much of a fighting chance as possible to not have to drop the engine and pay for any snapped ones to be drilled out, I was looking into the best stuff to use and was almost settled on plusgas but then found a link to a few people who swear by this concoction, not too sure if it's an old wives tale or there is some truth to it.

Sent my money through this morning

Hi mate i will meet you at the Mcdonalds on the a59, googlemaps mcdonalds ribble valley, there's also a petrol station there. Roughly what time will you be passing? I've checked google maps which says it takes 20 mins from the M6 to where i will wait, so i will get there for around 10:20am. Sorry, completely missed the first post. That's fine, I know where that is, be there for that time.

Not at all envious. Have a good time
-
Just spoken to ricky and we will be at the M6 junction 31 services at 9:45am, ready to leave up the A59 at around 10am, so if anyone else is heading over from the north west.

It's not going to be raining, I'm still up for it.

Keeping an eye on the weather, changes every day, but as it stands it's raining here but just cloudy in Leeds Sunday. See how that one develops. It's only cloudy where I am according to the weather report and it's currently shagging it down.

Going from Bolton, but I'm riding with Ricky who's on a 125 so going to meet at tickle trout services and head up the A59 to skipton, then cut down on the a65/63. More than welcome to tag along. I imagine being at Preston at around 9:45 would be a good shout, 50 minutes or so to skipton, then another hour to squiers. I may or may not have a pillion yet, she's undecided.

I will be..

Michelin pilot sporty, specifically designed for smaller capacity bikes. I put a set on my cg and they transformed it. Decent grip in wet and dry and a more rounded profile than others I tried, this made the transition from upright riding to leaning much smoother. I can't recommend them enough.

See what the weather is like closer to the time. Southport ain't it Ricky? All being well and good I could meet you at the tickle trout services, head up to skipton on the a59 then cut back down missing Bradford and coming round the back of Leeds?

Is this a come rain or shine thing? I'm in either way, if I'm going to come to the rally next year I may as well familiarise myself with a few of you lot. Anyone heading over from the north west, Bolton Manchester area? Don't mind avoiding motorways if there's 125's

I can make this one. Only taken me 3 years. I shall pay some point over the next few weeks, I've got another 4 hours tattooing on Wednesday and that's not coming cheap, I'm intending to pay the entire amount and roll my deposit over so I may be on the breadline for a couple of weeks.

A badly maintained chain and sprocket will be knackered in a few thousand miles. Correctly maintained, adjusted, cleaned and lubricated it should last a lot longer. It will need replacing either when it's shagged, or when it reaches the end of its adjustment. I personally haven't ever had to replace a chain due to it reaching the end of its adjustment, but I've also never seen a chain through its entire life on a bike. I've always bought a bike with a partially worn chain, replaced it, and sold the bike before the one I put on has worn. It's not intentional, it's just how it's fallen.

Driving without insurance carries up to 6 points, driving without a licence can carry the same. This what you're doing, riding outside the confides of your licence, and as you're doing this, your insurance wouldn't be valid. Not only would you be banned, you'd feel it on your insurance for years. No point. Plus it's a bit of a kick in the teeth for bikers who respect the system and don't break the rules. Plus if you hit something, you'll be liable for all the damages. Especially if they claim off the MIb, they will take you to court to recoup the losses

It's not restricted. It's a four stroke. It really is that slow. Try servicing it yourself, new plugs, oil, and oil/air filters. See if that improves the starting.
