    DIY Carbon Fibre?

I have looked at hydrodipping......but I also need to make some stuff for my project......so, in for a penny......

    DIY Carbon Fibre?

Well, I'll give it a go and see how I get on........I do fiddly as f*ck every day in my job, so it's no stranger to me.....

    DIY Carbon Fibre?

Yeah, there's different types of carbon fibre sheet available.......but the stuff I'd be looking at is the Wet layup stuff, which is pretty much done the same way as fibreglassing... The pre-impregnated stuff looks good, but requires a vacuum pump and a curing oven.....which is a bit much for producing a couple of one-offs.... The other alternative is a skinning kit......putting a carbon fibre skin over an existing part......my worry with that is losing the original part if I f*ck it up when applying the skin.....but I'll give that a bit more thought..... I won't be doing any of this until the weather warms a bit, as I'll need to do it outside because of the fumes.....
  9. Welcome to TMBF mate.......pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the rest of the gang when you can......they're much more likely to offer help and advice if you do.... The bar end weights are normally held in place by an expanding collar that grips the inside of the handlebar tube as the end screw is tightened. If you've slackened the end screw so that the weights are loose, you could try gently tapping the end of the screw to see if that will loosen the expanding collar......otherwise, if you're putting the same bar end weights back on, remove the screw and weights completely, although there is a risk that the nut of the expanding collar will drop off inside the bar......depends on the actuall arrangement of the collar.....
  10. Thinking of skinning and fabricating some stuff for both bikes with carbon fibre......looks reasonably easy, but has anyone else done anything with this and can point out any things to watch out for? A company called Easy Composites has some starter kits that may do what I'm looking to carry out on the bikes......which could be interesting....
  11. That's what I'd do, mate.......
  12. I just posted in your introduction thread.......but, as I said there, I'd be inclined to wait for your 24th birthday and do the full A license DAS......
  13. Welcome back Derek......
  14. Happy Birthday Neil.......hope you have a great day mate......

    Another update.

I couldn't say for sure whether it's only 1 gasket.....but on most bikes it is..... Yeah, I'd deffo be checking out the neutral switch.......especially after reading some of that stuff you posted on an earlier post......sounds like it could do real damage if ignored.....
  16. Get it welded and paint it with VHT paint or exhaust wrap it.......cheaper and easier than farting around trying to find another exhaust that'll fit......
  17. I've never paid full price for any of my bike gear.......some is new and some secondhand......it is possible to get decent kit without breaking the bank...... Shop around Ollie and see if there's any decent 2ndhand gear about.....
  18. Anyway Ollie......if you get a jacket to match your bike, the sleeves will fall of it and you'll need an angle grinder to get it off.....
  19. My leathers match my bike.........the bike's black......
  20. I hope she does ok mate. My mates youngest daughter was around the same size when she was born.......she's 12 years old now. Unfortunately since my mate passed away I've lost touch with his wife and daughter......but the last time I saw her, she was thriving. Her first months of life were also in the Rosie.......the care she received there was phenomenal. Best wishes for you all.
  21. I got a set of LED indicators for the project bike, a cantilever toolbox so I can sort my bikey tools out, Guy Martin Autobiography, Nick Sanders round the world book, Johnny Johnson (Dambusters) biography, Doombar set, buff, Matt Schofield CD (signed), a phone app controlled bedside light and a guitar picture........all good stuff......
  22. Happy Christmas everyone.......Christmas lunch out of the way.......time to collapse now.......

    Latest update.

Juddering in the lower gears?.......how's the chain and sprockets? If the plugs were a bit naff, the bike may be in need of a good service....oil, filters, etc....
  24. I used to love my Hot Wheels cars when I was a kid.......they got passed onto my youngest lad, who still has some of them I think.....
  25. Welcome to TMBF mate......pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself when you can....... Yep....need pics really to help you identify it.....
