  2. Check the inlet stub where the carb fixes to the cylinder head and make sure there's no air leaks around there....
  3. Er, yes.......and it's still not finished.......and I've still got the swing arm, engine and fork legs to do.......so, more freezing days outside with my drill and wire wheel to look forward to......
  4. Welding to the frame done.......and stripping the old finish off the frame is well underway. I kinda like the "distressed" look......a bit of lacquer to protect it.....hmmmm......but maybe not.....
  5. Put a link up mate.......so folks can see the details......

    fairing repairs

I had a test ride of a Tiger 800 with handlebar screen once.......the Sprint is a cocoon of still air in comparison.....

    fairing repairs

Ahh.....so you sussed out how to get it onto the centre stand then..... I'm glad the grips is a easy fix.......I never used them, so never noticed they weren't working.......one of the advantages of being a fair weather rider now.....

    fairing repairs

They were like that when I got the bike Alex.....and I looked at possible fixes, but the only thing that could be relied on was new fairings, which wasn't economically viable........and, as those fixings didn't seem to affect the stability of the fairings, I kinda forgot about them.... Obviously they rely on the shoulder screws to prevent the screw lugs from getting damaged......but over the years I guess screws get lost and replacements without the shoulder get fitted, with the obvious results that the plastic around the screw hole gets crushed and eventually breaks. I've used chemical metal and metal putty on things like that before......but it just doesn't bond to the rest of the fairing and soon parts company...... But, you're right, working on a faired bike is a nightmare compared to a naked bike.......
  13. Congrats Shirl.......great job......
  14. Not done it yet, but I've got a kit from e-tech to paint the callipers on the project......I'll report back once I've done it......

    Women

I very strongly disagree with positive discrimination.... I'm not saying that this lady isn't up to the job, I'm sure she will be excellent at it......but all too often these days I hear of people being put into positions because of their gender or ethnic background and not because they were the best candidate!..... Where's the equality in that? But I'm also equally opposed to the old boy network too......again, put the best person in the job, not just coz their face fits or their contacts! Rant over......carry on....

  17. So, I don't agree with your carte blanche statement about the phone belonging in the pocket, switched off........ you need to brush up on your observational skills fella. I was talking about MY phone. and how it stays in MY pocket and by MY choice - switched off. For what its worth.. the phone I carry when out and about ON MY BIKE has just 3 numbers on it. Carole Nash UK Carole Nash EUROPE NEXT OF KIN... I.C.E. so.. why it would need to be switched on beats me completely. Its purely for emergency use. A £12 ASDA 'special'. When Im out and about on my bike.. on my time. I'm 'off the grid' - this is my choice. the last thing I expect is other people to follow my lead. some people simply cannot do that. they MUST be available 24/7 not me though. cheers. as for the premise of this thread.. I have ZERO experience with smart phone navigation. because I don't own a smart phone. I do own a Garmin Zumo 660 and recommend it unreservedly. My apologies chap.....I thought you were making a point about using phones on the bike.... I did indeed misinterpret your post.

  19. Hmmm......well, I have a bar mount and charger for my phone and have used the CoPilot app for quite a few years now (on the bike and in the car). Why carry more accessories around than you have to? I don't take calls or listen to music while riding......but I won't condemn those that do......it's their choice. So, I don't agree with your carte blanche statement about the phone belonging in the pocket, switched off........as long as it's being used responsibly there's no reason why it shouldn't be utilised like any other driving aid! You can even set speed limit warnings on there that will give you an audible warning if you're exceeding the limit by a selectable margin......so it could be argued that it is a safety device......

  22. Make sure your battery terminals are tight.......
  23. Hmmm......I think we may need some clarification as to what's working and what's not Stu.......
  24. I'm not sure if I'm reading this right, but dipped and main beam and brake light are ok......the problem is with the pilot light, rear light and console lights? .........if this is the case it sounds like a dodgy connector or broken wire somewhere.......
  25. You're not the first mate.........and I very much doubt you'll be the last.......
