  1. Looks like a nice cheap'n'nasty headlamp unit has been fitted......and bodged to fit as well......throw it in the bin and either get a standard headlamp unit or one from a reputable manufacturer......and get a crimper and decent crimp connectors when fitting the new one......

    XJ600 oil leak

Hmmmm.....oil over the front of the engine could be a leaking cam cover gasket, head gasket or barrel base gasket......oil pi$$ing out of the crankcase breather sounds like maybe head gasket gone......allowing pressure into the crankcases......I'd clean all the oil off the front of the engine and then run it and see if you can spot where the oil is coming from..... We used to clean up the engine and then give it a good dusting with talcum powder in the general area of the leak and then run the engine again.....it's normally pretty easy to spot where the oil is coming from then.....
  3. What bike is it? Wiring looks nicely bodged..... Yeah.....the airflow through the rad will be a bit restricted.....but, if it's not overheating or leaking I'd leave it alone......a rad cover may stop further damage.....but some rad guards can restrict the airflow, so it may reduce the flow further and start to cause some overheating issues.....
  4. Sorry......good luck.....
  5. Just try to relax and ride your normal ride...... Forgetting to cancel indicators seems to be a common thing that people get picked up on.....
  6. Dremel?!!!!!........Angle Grinder is much more fun.......did mine and Bonniebird's chains with my trusty angle grinder......mwahahaha.....
  7. I've used that metal putty before.....which did a reasonable job..... No secondhand mirrors on eBay?.....
  8. Yeah.....that DID set looks ok.....not a bad price either..... Sprockets will be standard unless they specifically state a difference.....but you can check with them first, before you order.....
  9. That sprocket looks fooked to me.... Even if the chain looks good externally, the grease inside the O/ X- rings may have gone.....so it will be a bit graunchy..... Stick with my earlier comment about a new chain and sprocket set......20,000 +miles on a bird ain't bad.....about time that set was put out to pasture.....
  10. I'd just replace the chain and sprocket set mate......just to be sure......
  11. Mandy's back......so it looks like we'll be heading down there in a bit.......
  12. Just back from work.......planning on heading to the White Swan......not sure what time though, as Mandy isn't back yet......but I know that she's keen to try her new bars on Kermit......
  13. We're not too far from Bedfordshire.....so it's a possibility that we could come over some time and head out on the road with you.....
  14. Welcome to TMBF.....pop over to the newbies section and introduce yourself to the folks...... If you put your location in your profile there may be some members here that live local that wouldn't mind going out on the road with you to give you more confidence.....
  15. Congrats mate.......now on to MOD2...... I guess that if the examiner felt that you were still in control of the bike he gave you the benefit of the doubt.......

    Forks very soft?

It's a trail bike.....the forks are supposed to have a fair bit of travel......
  17. Sorry mate, but I don't know.......take your exhaust off and compare it to pics of YBR ones on eBay and see if it looks the same.....
  18. It used to be that you shouldn't use stickers on polycarbonate crash helmets as the glue on the stickers could react with the polycarbonate and weaken it.......but these days the glues used in stickers are less solvent based......and a lot of lids are constructed from other materials now......so I don't think it's such an issue now.....
  19. The signal depends on the phone, not the app. CoPilot has served me well for several years now......across several phones..... Fixed speed cameras are all in there......and there's three distance options at which it will give a visual and audible warning...... It also works well with my bluetooth headset. Be warned though.....it will rinse your phone battery if you don't have it plugged into a charger on longer journeys.... It will give 3 route options......but the route is editable by dragging......and you can set way points too. It also gives junction visuals to indicate which lane you should be in. I really recommend this app.....
  20. I use Copilot app on my Nexus ......also check out this holder..... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/291163463418? ... 1423.l2649
  21. Hoorah!!......big congratulations.......sounds like you had a fantastic day......
