  1. Result mate.......knew it was the battery......
  2. Yeah.....your beam pattern is pretty crepe....... That light unit on eBay looks pretty good.......the only prob you may have is the connector to the bulb......but it's fairly easy to swap over to the right one......
  3. Congrats mate.......happy days......
  4. Having ridden Mandy's Bonnie a fair few times I'd say that the handling and brakes are ok......but it could do with a few more horses..... The 902cc kit is not going to make it into a Gixxer killer, but will give the bike a bit more grunt.....which the brakes and suspension should be well capable of handling..... Why do it?.......obviously plenty of people are keen to do this as there's several big bore kits around.....and if you like a particular bike, but feel it could do with a bit more oomph....then why not? Mandy often gets people round her bike at meets discussing it and asking questions.......yet to see groups of people standing round a Bandit showing the same sort of interest...... His money.....his choice......end of......
  5. Tango

    Chain Lube?

    Scottoiler.....
  6. Yeah.....a new headlamp unit may be the answer...... Just out of interest, what make bulbs have you got in the current headlight?
  7. Hmmmm......looks like your headlight could do with coming up a bit if that's high beam.......but it also looks like your reflector or lens is a bit iffy......would have expected a bit more spread of light than that..... Not sure about the LED bulb.......could make things worse looking at it......
  8. For starting out I think that a set of textiles would be the best option......just make sure they have armour in them......cordura has good abrasion resistance........ Just be warned that there's a lot of bike kit that says it's waterproof and quite a lot of them are not as waterproof as they suggest...... Goretex stuff is usually waterproof.....but also quite expensive....... What you can do is get some waterproof textiles and also a waterproof one piece suit to go over the top if the weather is really bad......
  9. Yes mate......the PM button at the bottom of the pane that you type into...... Or you can click on the username of the person you want to send the PM to and there's a PM button on the left side of the screen
  10. Holes in the downpipes will make it run rough.......and will give you the pops and bangs you're getting.......put the better downpipes on before thinking of doing anything else......
  11. Has the bike got standard exhausts on it......and what condition are the downpipes?.......any leaks on the exhaust system can cause poor running.......and some aftermarket cans can cause popping and banging.....especially on the overrun......
  12. Lol.......lesson learned.......
  13. Hoorah.......result....... And, yes, the joys of 2ndhand bikes......the cb750 I bought as my cafe racer project.....well, the wiring has been well butchered.......so I bought a 2ndhand loom and will rewire the bike using bits of each modified to suit the new layout.....
  14. Just take it steady lads......there'll be a lot of wet leaves about......
  15. I can't find it either.......but I think it was on FB..... maybe someone linked it from here......
  16. What sort of runs are you doing on the bike?......if it's only a couple of miles at a time you may not be replacing the juice that the starter is using..... But it deffo sounds like the charging circuit should be checked......could be Reg/Rec......but could be a burnt Stator winding.....so, either check it yourself with a multimeter or take it somewhere to get checked.......
  17. If you're travelling at speed the wind would rip it backwards off the bike......and lightweight metal of that shape would decelerate pretty quick........so the speed differential when it hit the following bike could be high enough to do this......but the odds against it happening must be pretty high...... I reckon it's not a fake.......why would you do that to your bike just for Youtube views?......
  18. Can't find the 97bhp article Alan......but did stumble across links to this guy......http://www.bobfarnhamtuning.com/bonneville.asp There's the Hyde Harrier.....which puts out 80+bhp at the rear wheel.....
  19. Have a look on the RAT forum Alan.......someone is bound to have done some of this work on their Bonnie...... Saw something a while back where a guy had done stuff to his Bonnie and got it up to 97bhp......I'll see if I can find it again...... Gotta agree that the big bore kit is the more cost effective way to start.....and will help the bottom end.......gas flowing will only really help at the top end..... Red line on the Bonnie is 8.5K rpm mate.......and I think the top speed is around 110-115mph....
  20. No....Engine Ice has just got a different formulation of coolant to make it run a bit cooler......but it still has water in it....
  21. It's not so much about tap water attacking the engine materials as the waterways getting furred up by the tap water......which is why I use DI water.......but I can get it by the gallon from the labs that I work in...... Got some Engine Ice to put into the bike while I'm doing some of the maintenance over the winter months.....
  22. Probably best connecting into the rear light circuit.......but, as adekeys says, the diagram is a bit woolly...... You could use Scotch Block connectors to tap into the appropriate circuit to save chopping wires and splicing into the wiring....... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/scotch-block- ... 1173058435
  23. Could be that the clutch basket is loose..... Dunno if that engine has a counterbalance shaft......but, if it does, could be loose or slipped position.....
  24. Welcome to TMBF mate.......pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the guys when you can...... I've never heard of using sealant with a head gasket.......normally the pressures are so high that the sealant would just blow out.......but others may know different......
  25. Congrats......it's all steps in the right direction.......
