New Rider (Potentially) advice needed
Tango replied to skidderwolf's topic in CBT, Test and Advanced Training Information
I'm not sure if it's still running but there used to be a scheme called Get On, where you could get a short taster session to see if biking was going to be for you before committing. Google it to see if it's still running. -

I'm assuming that the valve clearances were all ok before? -

Hasn't got a kill switch has it? Neutral light on? -
It's not personal......for some It's a problem with multi-tasking.....riding a bike and nodding at the same time takes too much mental capacity for them. When I were a lad (things all looked so much better in sepia) we used to wave at each other.....taking a hand off the bars on 1970's motorcycles was an act of extreme bravery, so it was more a gesture of defiance....

Hey Hogfather, how's it going? Still got the Bandit? Thanks, making the most of it, mate....
-
Cheers mate....I'll do my best!
-
Cheers Ian.....yeah, it's a bit less "public" here...
-
Hey Skel, how's it going? Blue skies and stunning scenery coming right up!....
-
you-rang.jpg Welcome back!! @Tango Hey Greg, how are you getting on with the new gig?....
-
Cheers Stu......I'll try to behave myself.... I wouldn't try too hard Bob.......me and @Six30 don't. And can you believe he got passed over for the Mod gig again? Wait till you see the two that got appointed instead!

Nice one, mate.....I'm glad to become a gentleman of leisure....lol We're not far from Narbonne. Not started the Carte de Sejour thing yet as it's changed for Brits (WARP - Withdrawal Agreement Residency Permit), but it's not been decreed yet, even though the online site for it has been live for a few weeks now....so we're just waiting for that before applying.... Make sure you're covered before the shit hits the fan though. And it will! This place is Gammon Central now by the way! We've got until the end of next June to get it sorted, but we're not going to wait. Once the decree is ratified and we know for sure what criteria needs to be met we'll go for it. It always was, mate....

Hmmmm.....that's a tricky one, mate. What checks have they got to do and how confident are you that those checks will come back OK? New place don't want to wait 2 months, so they'll likely not want to start the recruitment process again either.... Largely basic checks, dbs, which I already have, employment, etc. Can't see there being an issue unless funding for the post changes due to current weirdness. Sounds like it's in the bag mate....but, as you say, you can't take anything for granted these days. Anyway, good luck, whatever you decide to do...

Yes mate......cut and run!... How's life over the border? Doing fine......started getting my Brit Pension a year ago but still working. Always will. Whereabouts are you now and have you sorted the Carte de Sejour thing? Nice one, mate.....I'm glad to become a gentleman of leisure....lol We're not far from Narbonne. It's possible to register a bike over 100bhp without ABS if it's over a certain age.....but unfortunately Speedy didn't fall into that category.... New bike?.....well, I was looking at the Royal Enfield Interceptor......but then Triumph released the new Trident.....so........
-
Nice one, mate. Yep, you are absolutely right about people talking funny and driving tractors.....it's just a little bit warmer here than Norfolk and we've got mountains just up the road....otherwise it could be the same place!
-
Glad you made it back here SCM.... Yeah, no bike......had to sell the Speedy because any bike over 100bhp has to have ABS over here....either that or be restricted to less than 100bhp.....and I just couldn't do that to Speedy, so he's got a new home now. The project bike was just too much to transport over, so that went too. It's early days for us over here yet......but so far, so good thanks.....

Someone just wants to put France Keep trying Bob it will work eventually! it's that obvious, Stu?
-
Hey Gerontious, how's it going my man?
-
Hiya SCM.....how're you doing?
-
Well mate, it's all change. I've taken early retirement from work and me and Bonniebird have moved to the South of France. Unfortunately both my bikes had to go, so I'm bikeless at the moment, but looking to get something hopefully early next year. You and yours all ok?
