Brakes question

Could be to do with the suspension setup......If the front is diving too much under heavy braking the weight transfer is making the rear too light, causing it to lock too easily?......
2. Many main dealers and suppliers have eBay shops.....so, it just saves you having to make a trip to the dealers to get the bits you need.....obviously there are some fly-by-nights on there....but they're generally pretty easy to spot. And most main dealers have websites where you can order parts and consumables from too.....although, I tend to buy my oil from independents. ....I'm happy to put Motul in my bike.....not fussed that it doesn't say Triumph on the oil can.....
3. Glad you managed to stay safe. Doesn't bare thinking about what could have happened. It riles me up whenever I see or hear about other truckers being such selfish and dangerous d'heads. From personal experience it seems to be the skip, tipper and bulk drivers that most often have that F U attitude. Nowadays, it's so easy for the authorities to penalise any driver with a CPC that most of us have a little respect for traffic laws and other road users ( even the impatient ones who think they're special). It was a bulk driver....so, you probably aren't surprised. Unfortunately I witnessed an accident involving a bulk driver a few years back......which resulted in the driver being jailed for causing death by dangerous driving X2 and causing serious injuries by dangerous driving X2.....so I'm always very wary of these guys when I'm on the road.... But I'm also always amazed by car drivers when they decide to play chicken with trucks....do they really believe that they're safe in their little tin box? The standard of driving from a large number of road users these days is truly frightening. ....
4. I think the point is that there will be technology in the vehicle to prevent accidentally exceeding the speed limit......which can be easily overridden.....which I think is no bad thing........how it's implemented is another thing though......my car's satnav would be happy with me doing 70mph in the 40mph roadworks all around where we live at the moment.....whereas Waze is more up to date and accurately indicates the temporary speed limits in place. But it all comes down to, if you don't want to get done for speeding, then don't speed.....don't go bleating if you deliberately break the speed limit and get caught.....simples.....
5. Another thing that you need to consider is the insurance costs.....just because they're 125's doesn't necessarily mean that it'll be that cheap......very nickable bikes, those.....
6. Got my renewal through from Bikesure.....gone up by about £30.... £214 fully comp for a multi bike policy....which, on the face of it isn't too bad.....but I've certainly not had a 15% pay rise this year..... Anyway, Six30 ....I agree with what's been said above. .....it's a "we don't want your business" quote.....
7. Bad luck mate...... Hard to say which bike......A test ride on each, if possible, should answer your question.......
8. Definitely not worth the risk mate......keep polishing it....sit on it and make Vroom noises.....and look forward to the day that you can legally take it out on the road.....it'll be worth the wait.....
9. Skipworth Arms near Market Rasen.....http://www.skipwortharms.co.uk No rooms there....but there's a few pubs with B&B in the vicinity. ......
10. Glad you had your wits about you as that could have been alot different it could have been a seance that we were using A guy on a S1000RR had just hammered it past me....easily clocking 3 figures.....If he'd been a few seconds later I hate to think of what could have happened. ....
11. Truck driver on the A10 south of Royston.....dual carriageway.....I'm in the right hand lane doing 70 positioned for the overtake....truck in the lefthand lane starts slowing just before a left turn so, although he's not indicating, I'm assuming he's turning left into the other road......Wrong.....nope....right indicator comes on and he swings towards the gap in the central reservation to do a U-turn.....even though the road signs indicate no U-turns allowed.....It wasn't even a foreign truck.....fortunately ABS allows you to steer whilst braking heavily.....He had absolutely no regard for anyone else on the road.....fookin idiot!
12. I bought my bike off eBay.....unseen!... But the listing was so comprehensive and loads of good photos....did an HPI check that came back clear.....phoned the guy up and had a chat with him, he was obviously an enthusiast....really honest about the bike......He just gave me a good vibe......and the bike was a priced a fair bit below most others on eBay, so I paid his asking price......and I wasn't disappointed when I went to pick it up.....and he threw in a Single Sided paddock stand........that was nearly 7 years ago and I'm still dead pleased with the bike......and chances are I'd likely get my money back on the bike if I decided to sell it now.....

Hay

Hey Phooey ....how's it going mate?....
14. I often fuel the car and bike at our local Shell garage.....it's slightly more expensive than the Morrisons, but it's less than a mile from the house, whereas Morrisons is about 10 miles away. I've not checked with the bike, but I get a few more miles out of a tank of fuel in the car from Shell than I do from Tesco/Morrisons/etc.
15. He sounds legit, Bob.....just another couple of days to wait before that money burns a hole in your pocket....
16. The thing to watch is where the wind gets deflected to.......I test rode a Tiger 800 a few years back and the screen deflected the air flow right into my lid, so it was buffeting and rattling worse than having no screen......TBH I've got used to the buffeting from no screen on my Speedy....doesn't really bother me anymore......but, having said that, I don't do the mileage on the bike that I used to.....
17. The thought has crossed my mind but this particular model of Sportster isn't slow .

19. Sounds like a good plan, Gin....... We've been to a pub just outside Ledbury that has a camping field and a covered area with a firepit....called the Trumpet Inn......Unfortunately they haven't any rooms, but Ledbury isn't too far away.......it's a bit West of the "target" area, but maybe worth considering.....not far from the M5/M50 junction.....
20. BTW....congrats on finally selling your bike, Bob.....it's always nicer if you feel that it's going to a good home....
21. It was . This guy had the M model GSXR 1100 in the past and currently rides GSX1400R so I feel sure that it's going to a good home . Also , I have found a very good Sportster on eBay that didn't sell at £4200 and I have contacted the seller who is in no hurry to re advertise so who knows .....? You'll have to change your username though.....
22. A Raleigh Runabout....15 years old....did a few laps of one of my mate's garden and I was hooked.....got my own for £20 on my 16th birthday and I was king of the road!.....
23. I don't drive into London quite as much as I did, but, as a biker in a car I find guys filtering fast and dropping rev bombs every few car lengths a bit annoying.....and I'm sure that I've seen non biker car drivers actually change their attitude towards the biker and turn agressive towards them.......I'm not saying that I've never done it, but my attitude towards it has changed after seeing so many aggressive riders doing it. I had a guy on a bike following me up the Finchley Road a few years back when I was in the car.....I knew he was there. We stopped at a set of lights and then pulled away and he disappeared into my blind spot, I couldn't see him, he then reappeared in my rear view, shaking his head.....He was trying to undertake me, but there was a line of parked cars, so he had to abort the undertake.....He then came up alongside my drivers window still shaking his head and accused me of changing lanes on him.....I pointed out that I had actually stayed in my lane, it was him that had changed lanes. And it's that attitude that gets drivers backs up. I'm the first to make room for bikes to filter, if it's possible, but some bikers seem to think that every other road user should jump out of their way when they're coming through fast, dropping rev bombs, and being aggressive towards them. Having said that, I see plenty of other bikes filtering and not making a big fuss about it....it's those guys that get my respect.
