  1. Aye, but that could be construed as a slightly different kettle of fish Chic, you'd have a good idea that that'd be a safe risk .... good point and true other circumstance I'd consider not wearing a lid have also been mentioned. Generally I wear tailor my gear as to what kind of riding i'm going to be doing and the conditions, nipping into town (10 miles of backroads) if the weather is OK I'll wear an armoured light weight bomber jacket and kevlar jeans. longer runs and especially if I'm going to be riding fast its full leathers and back protector, Touring its textile jacket, leather trousers and backprotector. Problem is even on a 2 minute journey in perfect weather while you are riding very carefully will not stop some blind OAP pulling out on you and sending you over the bonnet of their car. Remember most road accidents happen within something like a 10 mile radius of that persons home. Has to be ATGATT if you want to be safe.
  2. Not a fan of the green at all. I can see why it appeals to some but not me. Strangely though I like the orange.
  3. Without a doubt. If nothing else, it hides the ugly!! Seriously though I like to be able to do things like feed myself, go to the toilet on my own, walk, talk, and carry on riding a bike!!
  4. I see your point mate, but personally I am happy about it. Remember the last time the beeb had F1 things like digital TV with BBC3 and BBC4 did not really exist. Neither did the almighty red button!! Hopefully with all the extra stuff we should get good coverage.
  5. I can't believe you let him get in 3 posts before you told him that!!
  6. Brilliant. Saw this as it happened. PMSL Thought it was great to hold his hand up to the crowd. The obviously enjoyed it as well.
  7. Sounds good. I will have to see about getting myself a ticket then.
  8. Are most people going to the actual race? I thought everyone was just watching it on the screen and getting drunk.
  9. Right then, I will be coming on the Sat and Sun, but not staying overnight. Do I need to to buy a ticket, or can I just turn up on the days and pay? I can't bloody figure it out.
  10. Hi Willow If you are going, do you fancy riding up together, weather permitting?
  11. Sounds good Vicki. Will be good to see you again!!
  12. Off work tomorrow. Will nip round to parents and hijack their cable for a few hours
  13. Here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=d&hl=en&geocode=&saddr=matlock&daddr=Grantham,+United+Kingdom&mra=pe&mrcr=0&sll=52.983887,-1.035962&sspn=1.362514,3.735352&ie=UTF8&ll=53.017225,-1.08867&spn=0.680753,1.867676&z=9 Obviously this is a naff route, but gets you in the right direction.
  14. Just an idea to attract more of the Ann Summers crowd. I was thinking we could aim towards Grantham on the ride out, which would mean less riding if you are coming on the bike. Now all I need is someone who knows the roads between Matlock and Grantham and can plan a fun route.
  15. Looks good mate. Can't see why I would say no to that. Put up a poll mate, see who wants to come.
  16. Hi All After discussions with Willow and Akey they have decided to let us trash their house again for a 2nd Pudding Club event. We decided to turn this rideout into the event!! Meeting point and time will stay the same which is to meet in Matlock between 10:30 and 11am at the Fish Pond Car Park then go for a ride out before returning for a drink then back to Willow and Akeys for lots of cake and puddings. Would be nice for help setting up a route, as I don't know the roads that well. Any routes welcomed. I know the route Akey did for the last one was good so we could do that if we want, but I am sure people would like to try different roads. Hope you can all make it.
  17. Your all too nice!! I was not led to believe this about bikers, and did not sign up for this!! Thanks everyone, once the weather gets better I will be joining up, and I hope a load of others do as well. I know Fatlad wants to soon.
  18. How close do you ride to each other? Obviously this changes with road conditions and speed, but is their any sort of general rule, or is it simply the "2 second rule"
  19. Speaking from the "Newbie to rideout's" group, I will say I 100% agree with what is being said. We should meet up, and when I came to the pudding run the other week, I had a great time, even though I was quiet as a mouse. I can say honestly that the people on here are a great bunch. My concerns are that I am not only a newbie to rideouts, but a newbie to bikes as well. Since passing my test I have less than 10 hours riding experience. For that reason I worry about causing an accident in a group. I am also concerned about the speed in which I travel. I hate to say this, but I don't tend to break speed limits apart from dual carraigeways and motorways (And apart from a bit of testing of my bike yesterday, only a few miles an hour above on those roads as well). I don't want to be holding people up who have come out for a fast rideout who have to keep stopping and waiting for people like me to catch up at every junction. I have been told a few times on here that people don't mind this, but I don't like putting people out if possible. Lastly I don't know much about group riding *HINT HINT*. Perhaps someone could do a write up and explain the principles behind group riding safety for us newbie types.
  20. Anyone use a damper? Just wondering if they work. They seem like a good idea really.
  21. That's the fella. http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/1182/damperve8.jpg
  22. Isn't there something you can get to stop a tankslapper, that attaches to the handle bars? Don't know what they are called though... Suppose this is the right place to get an answer.
  23. Quick question. Squires? Im sure all you seasoned bikers could point it out on a map, but us Newbies might struggle a bit. Where is it?
  24. You should try it again this year Techno. Now they have removed the Traction Control from the cars, it seems to be making it a bit more lively. There was more action in last Sunday's Grand Prix than the whole of last season.
