  1. I've seen plenty of adverts for cars that are similar to this, but two of the biggest givaways are "yahoo finance" and they usually put there email address in the photo of the car. One of the best ways to check is just to type the email address in to google. Here is a classic example Click Here The only thing I don't understand is why Auto Trader (for example) lets this go on?
  2. Am I hearing things, or did they just introduce Prince Harry as Prince Henry at the olympic closing ceremony?

    Tyres......

Just replaced a runflat on my car, it took two days to arrive and cost me £50 secondhand off ebay and another £5.00 to get fitted. It also has 7mm of tread which isn't far off a new one. P.S. there are loads for sale on ebay, and quite a few of the places on there are dealers who will fit the tyres free of charge.
  4. Seen as you ride a bike already, think you'll find it a breeze. Think I would apply for your test now, because it'll take a while for a date to come through.

    Olympics

Not really a big sports fan at all (except for bike racing), and don't even like football, but seen as its in Great Britain thought I'd at least watch the opening ceremony, especially as it was by Danny Boyle. Didn't really expect I'd enjoy it seen as with the Australian and Chinese olympics I probably watched up to five minutes of the opening and then got bored, but I must admit the opening ceremony was superb. Some great moments like the Queen parachuting in to the stadium with 007 and Mr Bean was very funny playing the keyboard in the London philharmonia orchestra. The BBC did a great job too showing it in 3D.
  6. I've got a gel seat on mine, and its doubled the distance I can travel (From 100 to 200miles) before my arse goes numb.
  7. Change the spark plug, they don't cost much and it will eliminate that as the problem.
  8. Lol, maybe next time, was a bit chilly though
  9. Well me & my wife turned up, unfortunately no one else from here did. Did meet some guys from a rival forum though, who just happened to be meeting at McDonald's too.
  10. I've got a couple, the bluetooth is great upto about 40mph. From 40-50mph its difficult to understand what the other person is saying and after 50mph forget it. The sun visor was not very good on mine and it wasn't long before the lever snapped, so i drilled a small hole in it, looped a tie rap round and now I use that to pull the sun visor down, and just push the visor back up with my finger when not needed. The lever on my wives is still ok. The first one I got I had to send back because the bluetooth wasn't working, but the replacement has been fine. After 18months the inbuilt batteries are only lasting approximately 2-3hours on a full charge, but new they did about 8-12hours. Comfort wise, they are not the best I've owned. Despite what I've said above, overall I rate them as not a bad helmet. They are at the cheaper end of the market so you can't expect wonders but they definately beat any system that uses wires.

  12. I've owned a ZZR1400 for about 2 years and travelled just over 6000miles on it, mainly two-up. The reason I bought the ZZR was two fold. Firstly I had a ZZR1100 which I owned for about 12 years and did in excess of 50,000miles on, so I knew it was going to be a pretty good road bike and like most Kawasaki's have a stonkingly powerful engine. Secondly the bike I owned before the ZZR14 was an R1, which was not only uncomfortable but a total disappointment in power compared to the ZZR11 which was 7 years older. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying R1's are un-powerful, just that compared to the old ZZR11 they really are no faster, and in some areas, quite a bit slower. Anyway after travelling more than 400miles two-up on the R1 with a tank-bag and rucksack in over one weekend I knew the R1 had to go! My criteria for my next bike, was comfort, looks and it goes without saying, something incredibly fast, so that only left one bike to actually choose from, the ZZR1400. Handling Firstly I must agree with Stu & Jonabonospen, the suspension is definitely on the soft side. The first thing I did was stiffen up the front & rear preload using the standard suspension and its now fine. Before if you were braking and hit a small bump the front forks would just bottom out, but it’s never done it since adjusting the preload. As for going round corners, I can go just as fast as I could on the R1, and before you start thinking that’s because I'm a shit rider, I've seen very few riders in twenty odd years of riding that have managed to go faster than me round a corner. Engine Like the other two have said, up to 6000revs it monsters most other bikes, and in top gear at say 40mph, you only need to twist the throttle to overtake. From 6000revs onwards its like Mr Sulu has put it into warp speed. I'm very impressed with the fuel economy too, returning 40-44mpg when you open it up as often as you can, and more like 50mpg on long distances. Touring/Comfort It's very comfortable compared to modern sports bikes, but I improved it further by changing the seat to a GTR14 gel seat which fits straight on. It now means I can ride 200 miles before I get a numb arse compared to 100 miles. You can easily go over 200miles before fuel stops too, which is very handy when touring. Brakes The brakes are superb, the best I've ever used and whilst I've never had a problem myself, I believe a lot of ZZR14's owners have had disks warp. Not sure if Stu had a dodgy rear brake, or if it was because he's used to a twin, but I think the rear brake is not bad compared to most bikes, i.e. you can actually stop just using the rear brake. Overall The mirrors are fantastic, they stick out miles and so you do not get the usual view of your elbows. The headlights are also superb, but that’s no surprise considering how many of them there are. Bad Points The one thing that I hate about Kawasaki's is that they seem to make their fairings out of brittle plastic, you only need to look at the fairing and it starts cracking. Unlike the Yamaha's I've owned which had fairings you could bend in half and they'd just spring back. It's difficult to open it up as much as you'd like to, by the time your hitting the redline in first gear your already going over the speed limit! http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/PICT0001-4.jpg http://i235.photobucket.com/albums/ee259/Voodoo1972/DSC00129-1.jpg
  13. Just got back from Normandy, had a great time. If Guines Eurocamp is where I think it is (i.e. Calais) then you do realise it'd be about a 500 mile round trip just to get to the WWII areas in Normandy. I went on the Tunnel to Calais myself, but if I was to do Normandy again, I'd definately take the ferry to Cherbourg. Also it'll cost you about 15 euros each way if you use the motorways. I used to own a 98 R1, and so I speak from experience, take yourself a wheelchair, you'll need it when you stop

  15. Just spent a week touring round Normandy. Compared to Britain the roads are completely empty, although a lot of them are very straight! 16. If they were any good, then multi billion pound oil companies would add it to their fuel, to make it better than their competitors
  17. Sounds to me like one of the cylinders wasn't firing. That could be as simple as a spark plug or the HT lead. Then again it could be something else entirely.
  18. I'm going to Normandy on my bike in 10 days, can't wait.
  19. Seems like its mainly cosmetic, I'd fix it up first and then sell it if I were you.
  20. If you do a good job with the putty, then expect it to last for approx 2 or 3 journeys at the most! Either try and weld it (which I don't think will work) or try making something out of a coke can and jubilee clips, but I think in the long term it'll be a new exhaust or maybe a secondhand one.
  21. The washer underneath is not a full washer, its a C shaped washer so should be able to be removed.
  22. Should have used superglue, easier to work with, less messy and you don't have ugly looking fibreglass smeared over the inside of the fairing. Also seems to be far stronger, unless of course you've drilled holes around the crack for the fibreglass to get a firm bond.
  23. I've used superglue before now, and it worked fine for years.
  24. High temp paint on exhausts especially on the downpipes never works very well.
