  1. I'm not on there! Disgusting!
  2. While I agree to a certain extent, anything big enough to require that much force, shouldn't snap. I would be worried a a front sprocket shaft could snap! Anyway, Thanks for the advice guys, I got a proper torque socket and a bit of wood through the back wheel, applied some heat to the nut and off it came! Just going to do fork seals tomorrow morning, and then ready for an mot! Matt
  3. I lived in Bath, and around there generally for quite a while, might be nice to come back over for a look round.
  4. Might be time for the BIG hammer to come out!
  5. I wouldn't have thought so, normal thread would tighten on forward motion for safety, not loosen, no mention of it in haynes manual either.
  6. Trying to change chain and sprockets on the divvy 600, basically the front sprocket nut is totally solid. I have tried heat, then a breaker bar on it but it's not budging. Anything else to try? are all Yamaha bikes from the 90's going to have the same nut? would cut it off, but can't find one listed on ebay or wemoto, but plenty of fzr etc. Any suggestions appreciated Matt
  7. I have always wanted to do this and it sounds great. Just getting back on the road now after a long break, I think it's probably the perfect time for me to get into it, once I have got a few weeks riding under my belt so I am a bit more 'up to speed' as they say. Matt
  8. While cheap tools ARE a waste of time normally, when you are starting out, they will help you get jobs done, and you can always upgrade them gradually if they break. Halfords Professional are great, and much cheaper than most of the other high quality stuff. I would pick up a multi draw tool box as cheap as you can find (not a snap on etc for 100s), and pick up a fairly cheap set that will include most of what you want for most basic jobs. They won't be fantastic, but at least you will have a reasonable mix of tools. Thats how I started, and I now have most tools, including specialist things like valve spring compressors and torque wrench. I haven't broken a tool for years and have had most of the for well over 10 years. Cheapie spanners will break, I just bought snap on or Halfords professional one at a time as I snapped the cheapies. What's wrong with an apple core? If I am driving the works van, I wait till I am in the country and throw it into a hedge, totally biodegradable, and feeds all the bugs and birds? Always goes out the passenger window when there's no one behind me and it will definitely not end up on the road or path.
  10. I will be on the road within a week or two in Newport, more than happy to meet up for some local rides to get me back into the swing of things. (It's been a while) Matt
  11. Looks GREAT! I really like the blue bits, really sets it off!
  12. Funnily enough, I just dragged my Furygan jacket out the loft, haven't ridden for 10 yrs, and I bought it second hand back in the 90's. Must be at least 20yrs old and it still looks fine, not a loose stitch or patch of wear on it.
  13. Hi. Just joined the forum, I am in Newport and would be up for a ride. Just picked up a scruffy old XJ to get me back on the road again after a break of a few years. Will have it on the road in a few days after a bit of tlc! Matt
