  1. Not as long as you don't get carried away. Just start small, and see what it sounds like!
  2. Intermittent problems, I have had exactly the same with my XJ. It will be fuel related, check for crap in the carbs, blocked jets, does it have a paper fuel filter? they are rubbish, mine was letting clods of old paper through into the fuel pump and carbs. Float height in the carbs, and balance too.
  3. Sounds cool, so many crap jobs around, getting into an industry where you have a passion and an interest is where its at these days. (says the guy driving a van for a plumbers merchant). I am pretty handy with things that require spanners or fabrication, but not up to speed on all this modern elecktrickery! The shrine is growing, the wife is upset as she has had to move to the spare room as her side of te bed is covered in your avatar pic blown up to 6ft!!!!
  4. Well done Bex. What are yo studying, and what do you want to do? Just need to add the info to my stalker files!
  5. HAHA! Scots voting to stay in, and the 'UK' massive voting to let them go their own way! Awesome. The phrase that springs to mind is 'be careful what you wish for, you may get it!'
  6. I like the sound of that TC, I can't claim to stick to the speed limit, but I don't really want to HAVE to speed just to keep up!
  7. Well, they did the job for years, and the chain I bought last month for the divvy came with one, which I used as I didn't have a chain tool, and will be splitting the chain for a rebuild in the winter. (may replace anyway, but thought I might as well leave the option?
  8. Out of interest, whats the concensus on speed for a rideout thats got quite a few going (as opposed to you and two mates ragging it!). I tend to cruise myself between 50 and 80 depending on road and traffic, but quite happy enjoying bimbling along at 50 in the sun. What sort of pace will you guys be going at, not worried as I know you won't be thrashing it and we'll all keep up, but just curious!
  9. Never done a rideout before, me and the missus definitely up for what ever ride the more knowledgeable people choose. Can't wait!
  10. HA HA! You jest sir. I have a 3' long breaker bar and weigh 19stone and I struggled! In the end had to put a 3" piece of wood through the wheel onto the swing arm and heat the nut too. I don't think it had been off for a while.
  11. Getting the front sprocket undone is a laugh too!
  12. HA HA! Was gonna add a helpful reply, till I saw it was posted by someone who thinks bikes are rubbish! Good luck with that!
  13. I don't actually think the Scots hate us English, not really. I realise there are some hard liners. The last polls I saw were running very pro union, iirc, like at least 70% but can't remember exactly. Heard whats his face on the radio, Salmond or whatever, saying if they lose a referendum, it will be 'because we have not educated the Scottish people enough'. yeah, OR it will be because they don't agree with you!

  15. You obviously mean Northern Ireland or else your comment is completely wrong. Right, I 'obviously' meant Northern Ireland, so????
  16. When does it stop? We have all been oppressed by someone in history, Most of England has been oppressed by invaders from offshore, or other parts of the Island at some point. Do we need to split up and have separate countries of Wessex, cornwall, east anglia, mercia etc etc etc again? Do we need recompense from the nordic countries for their occupation, or from Italy for the roman occupation. I actually don't care enough to vote, If they want us, great, we're all a big happy family despite our histories and our squabbles, but if they don't want to stay? Fine bugger off, but you're taking a fair proportion of the UK's debt with you, and you bloody better need a passport to come back into England or you're wanting your cake and eating it. And remember international waters is only a couple ,miles off the coast so don't expect to keep all the north sea oil. It's like Ireland, I don't care if they want to stay or go, it's up to them, but the majority of Irish, WANT to be part of UK which i why the IRA are (were) so out of order, trying to force a population to go with their wishes, even though it wasn't representational! But what do I know?
  17. My intro to landrovers was walking down my cousins driveway, hearing a loud banging, to find him adjusting the door hinge on his V8 lightweight with a 10lb lump hammer!
  18. That hammer is PATHETIC! I wouldn't even use THAT to coax the end of a split pin over! You are talking to a landrover mechanic here, hammers START at 6lb, anything less is just a stick!
  19. As a general hint. Ally stuck to steel, if it fits, put it in a pan of boiling water for half an hour, and ANYTHING will come apart. Obviously, only if you're stripping it completely anyway!
  20. Just be careful with calipers, I have found out myself the hard way how easy it is to break an ali caliper trying to get a steel pin out. Don't hit it too hard. Penetrating oil applied lots over time is the safest!
  21. Sounds like he shouldn't be riding. That's the kind of thing that'll kill ya in the wrong place! basic maintenance affects more than resale value!!!!!
  22. Well up for that, I used to live in bath, and midsomer norton, so love it round there.
  23. WOW, Thats good quality for what it costs, I was expecting much worse than that! That could tempt me to get one for that money!
