  1. Bloke at work has this one. http://www.trackersecurity.co.uk/buy.html Seems slightly more expensive to run than the datatool, but I like the rechargable battery option (lasts 18-24 months i think) on the proactive so it won't run down your bikes one.
  2. A chap at work had his last bike stolen and fitted a tacker to his new bike. Guess what.... yep stolen, but recovered pretty quickly (same day). I'll find out what make he went for, although from looking into it earlier today Datatool subscriptions seem fairly reasonable.
  3. Definitely this, also I'd suggest the A702 Carronbridge to Elvenfoot as an alternative to the A74M or B7076
  4. So your instructor on that CBT is an idiot, they should have explained what to do, how it works and taken their time with you. If you want lessons on the road, you have to do the cbt. I remember from mine it was a 1 day thing with an optional 2nd day (included) if it was taking you longer to learn. Hopefully someone in your area can suggest a good school for you to learn with who will do the job properly. Good luck.
  5. Might help saying what you're after?
  6. This one may or may not be cheating: It was taken when we'd ridden the bikes down to Gwithian in Cornwall and is just near where we stayed. I can't remember if we'd been out on the bikes the day this photo was taken or not though. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8312/8000744834_7db1b53fd2_c.jpg
  7. I usually zip together, but it'd be pretty easy to get on zip changed so they match if you need to.
  8. We were pretty tempted by the ghost, but the 240fps on the gopro sold it for us this time round.
  9. In case anyone's interested I'm getting a bit more impressed with the GoPro. Video in better weather: ">
  10. Are you even allowed on a motorway with something that slow?!
  11. The stupid woman who stopped her car in the middle of a junction to go talk to a policeman. The road through Hardgate/Faifley was closed so loads of rush hour diverted traffic and she just stops and holds people up even more than they already have been. I'm surprised no one was hitting the horn. Couldn't drive round her due to all the diverted traffic coming the other way.
  12. I don't have a goldwing... no built in stereo.
  13. Me too! i think thats part of the reason he was swearing at me... Depends what vehicle I'm in! If it's the bus then they are reversing I've done that too when i get the chance!
  14. So far I'm relatively unimpressed. Quality of the kit is good, and most importantly despite looking like it will cause issues when helmet mounted, I never noticed it was there even up to 70. Picture quality is definitely better than my cheap £15 camera but I'm not sure it's 24 times as good (i might be doing something wrong) Also the supplied software is crap. You can't edit a video with out converting it from mp4 to AVI or MOV, then some basic adjustments are possible after which you have to convert again (to mp4 i think). No ability to combine clips either which seems crazy, unless it's just a ploy so you buy their expensive software. Even the short 2 minute video Gayle took was about 20-30 minutes in conversion. Mine from this morning (7m long) has so far taken about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to reach 71% and now seems to be stuck. If it ever converts I'll post my test video.
  15. I always stop leaving them only just enough space to crawl through if they don't respect who has right of way.
  16. If only some idiot (me) hadn't left the camera on overnight, I would now have a nice video of my ride to work. As it is, no video and also no waterproof jacket liner as my forgetfulness also extends to leaving that at home. Praying for no rain.
  17. The F*ckwit on a KTM (i think) who came flying out of Old Inns petrol station this morning with out looking whatsoever where they were going. Probably would have been a service to society if i had flattened them!
  18. Don't pull over on Autobahn hard shoulders unless its an emergency (i.e. not like you see folks here stopping for a pee) only use rest stops else you may get in trouble. Be careful in France/Belgium towns, I got caught out by what was apparently a pedestrian crossing when the car in front stopped. Couldn't see anything that looked like crossing signs. Can't think of anything else at the moment. Oh yeah, if you are in Germany they have/had an odd turn about traffic coming from side roads in towns. Something along the lines of if it's not a major road (think housing estate) then cars coming from the right have priority to pull out. I think it has something to do with keeping traffic moving at junctions. May well be worth googling.
  19. Just to add to this, I'm not convinced there is as much as 20mm movement in the forks, but then I wasn't really looking for distance moved just if there was any. Might have to go out and check again when it's lighter.
  20. I'll generally warn bikes in a national, in a 30 it really depends on if people are looking like they're speeding or maybe just over by accident.
  21. The stuff's dirt cheap. e.g. full price is about £6 so i'd pick it up anywhere. You can get spray on stuff and wash in stuff. We picked the latter as it's guaranteed to get everywhere. Takes a while to dry though but did wonders for my RST trousers which leaked like a sieve and now resist having the shower on them.
  22. you've never rounded off a screw, caphead or bolt then by having the wrong size tool and trying anyway? or using 'universal' grips? Not much fun having to drill and tap a screw out cos you have mashed the head with the wrong shape screwdriver! I never said use the wrong tools for the job!
  23. I wouldn't bee too worried about breaking your bike, experience showed me that when the Haynes says e.g. "gently hammer a drift to remove bearing races" what it really means is "bash the hell out of it till it moves". (Learnt from trying it gently myself then watching a professional do it)
