  1. thanks, now to see what all the fuss is about.
  2. Do you still have the receipt? I'd guess if the video is good enough for them to make a call on what you are and aren't scanning you should be able to see what's going through and match it to what's on your receipt. hope you can get this sorted out quickly.
  3. Enjoying the lovely weather down here and going for a ride with Polecat
  4. I keep meaning to check him out, had a quick listen to (I think it was called) Terra Firma years ago but on headphones in virgin isn't the best place for deciding on music.
  5. you should be fine, my speed four suggests either 10w40 or 10w50 (or possibly just says "suitable oil") so it can't be that critical
  6. Just use an underlay, my current tankbag has scratched the paint on my tank. If you're feeling a bit more flush check out the bagster universal strap on system and pick up a cheap tank bag from ebay. Alternatively Hein Gericke are doing the x30 strap on bag for £62 after discount in their closing down sale.
  7. I get what you mean on those (the ones i really like are the Ariat Carbine but they arent sold in the UK), i more thought if your trousers finish below the buckle no one will know. I've heard that Oxford BoneDry stuff really isn't so probably best to avoid, shame as their luggage is great.
  8. Not sure i'd want a short boot (or glove) just in case the trouser or jacket rides up. Have you thought of getting some more boot style footwear such as these Once you un tuck your jeans they'd look just like normal boots/shoes. Richa look good, but no experience of them. I'm considering a couple of their gloves at the moment so would be interested in opinions too.
  9. Get it looked at, then you'll be able to get an answer as to how long it'll take to heal too. have you thought about trying those toothpastes that get advertised for sensitive teeth? I guess it depends on how big the hole is as to if they will work (if they work at all)
  10. Anyone know if the bikesafe course actually gets you a discount on insurance? Having done the course I think it (my officer at least) was a waste of time so hoping at least it can be useful for something. I can't see an option on any insurance comparison sites (although i remember seeing advanced options ages ago).
  11. Thus making them rarer? Photography, bouldering, snowboarding and music for me (wouldn't say I'm an audiophile).
  12. Cheers Tango. the sides look fine for some time so even a blast on the twisties should be no problem. I'll have to give it a double check after next weekend to see how it's lasted, just in case i kill it before then. Next question: replace with BT-021, BT-023 or Contiroad Attacks? Edited to add, even if the tyre was new when i got the bike, I've still got 7k miles out of at worst 4mm (think they have 5 or 6mm when new). should give me a safe 1.5k left.
  13. Cheers guys, Oslin, do you mean change it now?
  14. happy birthday Tango. Have a good one.
  15. Just wondering if anyone can give me an estimate of how much wear is left on my rear tyre. I know it's a subjective/variable answer based on riding style and roads etc. They are Bridgestone BT-21's iirc. I'm just trying to work out when to get it changed - before/during/after trip to cornwall. Just measured next to the inner most wear marker and apparently I have 2mm left. We've got about 800-900 motorway miles to do getting there and back plus a couple of hundred fun miles on the way plus what ever miles we do there. Currently I'm thinking ride down and get it changed on the first day were there which will just be a lazy day anyhow. Any opinions? Thanks
  16. I knew Harry was used for Henry (from watching Henry V) but have no idea why.
  17. I agree with Phil, bouncers are often a waste of space, but you'd expect the police to know better. Should be interesting to see why they didn't want to test you.
  18. I did think a more upright bike and your giant stature (certainly compared to us) would help. I think the only issue we had with thee loch long road was the folks we were with which is easily fixed. It's certainly more fun than staying on the a82 up to Luss. Here's a photo
  19. We went off to find this road today, expected something similar to the lovely road going past St Mary's Loch. Instead we found a crappy single track road which for the first 15ish miles (about 1/2 our route on that section) was covered in the middle with anything between gravel to large stones. Spent the majority of the time at <20mph crawling round sharp corners and praying the cars coming the other way were going to stop. I'd say about 70% either didn't know what passing places were for (or just decided "its a motorbike we'll not bother stopping"). The view was nice as was the tea shop. Saw a couple of folks on a Harley Ultra-glide or something! Don't waste your time on a bike, take a car and a tent for a relaxing weekend and get some amazing sunset/rise photos while you are at it. If you do do it on the bike, come from the Aberfeldy side which is better and turn round at the tea shop.
