For some reason I thought you'd been here for ages! I have to agree, very friendly forum and non of the bitchiness I've seen on the other bike forum i was on.

They've done the same with the road that goes from the m73 to Lanark used to be a 60 but now a 40. Never seen any bikes doing stupid things there, I think it's down to all the Sunday drivers getting upset when someone (car or bike) tries to do the limit. If they're wanting to enforce the 60 limit it should be enforced. cameras, police etc. Not a lower blanket speed limit; those who speed will still speed regardless.

Not sure id want to gamble on always getting my arm in the way and keeping it there. How much better view can you get from an open helmet?

I can't comment on the Held, but I can tell you that the RST pro trousers are proper water proof so would expect the jackets to be too. As is the HG goretex jacket I have (bought on offer for £99 instead of £200). That's true but over suits take up no space - just bum bag size!

Given the weather in Scotland at the moment i'd not be rushing to get leathers. However even if you don't plan on doing a track day I'd still think about leathers for every day. Having crashed in both I'd much prefer to be doing it in leathers, even if that a means an oversuit for when it rains. My very fitted HG jacket had the armour move slightly resulting in a bit of road rash which leathers didn't. I now hate to think what would have happened if i'd come off in my first (looser fit) textile jacket.

Ian, I saw a helmet yesterday which was a full face helmet but could be used chinless or visorless or even both together I think. It would be better than just a chin strap. I can't for the life of me find the site I saw it on though.
