Have a great time all of you!! We want pictorial evidence when you get back!!!
  2. So what does anyone think about my earlier point that there should be a minimum speed limit on motorways for everything except lorries? People driving too slowly can be as much of a hazard on the motorways as those who drive well in excess of the speed limit!
  3. Moving to Clothing etc etc section - you got PM Danny!
  4. Welcome to TMBF Have a good read through here - there's lots of information that should help. You've been informed correctly, there is no pass/fail of the CBT - it's basic training to bring you up to a standard where the instructor feels you are competent to ride on the road.
  5. Somewhere Over The Rainbow - Eva Cassidy
  6. Hi and welcome to TMBF! Personally speaking if you're only going to buy one set of bike clothing I'd by textiles - they're probably more versatile. A waterproof rain suit would come in handy too! I don't commute on my bike but many do. A lot of people prefer to leave some clothes at work to change into. I would imagine if you wore trousers under your bke clothing they'd look like you've slept in them by the time you get to work!
  7. Yep, much the same here Bogof. On the whole I'll stick to the speed limit but maybe push it a bit whe I think I can get away with it. However, as you say, I do feel that there are some particularly silly speed limits in force in some places. I appreciate the need for 30mph in residential areas and I know that there are rules governing the speed limit where there are X number of houses/properties fronting onto the road. (or something like that! ) But around here we have some roads that are long, straight, wide, good visibility & they're restricted to 40mph! Crazy!! IMO it encourages people to break the limit! I also think the speed limit on motorways should be increased to 80mph and that there should be a minimum speed limit of 60mph for anything other than lorries too!!
  8. Oh no, that's terrible Neil! I hope they're still able to treat it!
  9. Shoei helmets fit well with glasses, but I'm araid you'll be lucky to get one of those for less than £200!!
  10. Have to get someone else in MotoGP when the next window opens, unless Crutchlow makes a miraculous recovery! Our BSB boys are keeping us going atm & just didn't have a good WSB this time
  11. It's not open for a while Rob - we missed the last one!
  12. Watching The Detectives - Elvis Costello
  13. Once again some memory jerkers there! In my teens a friend used to drive her dad's Austin Cambridge & I remember the headlight dipper being a push button on the floor next to the clutch pedal! And I used to get a lift to college every day in a Tessie (Triumph Vitesse) convertible - at the time I thought it was awesome!!! I also remember a friend having an Allegro (not the posh Vanden Plas) and the had squared off steering wheels!!
  14. Hmmm - mixed bag for us this week. Good results in BSB but not so good in WSK, so we'll wait & see
  15. I have a cover which was outside in rain & shine for 2 years & it was fine! It was given to me by the bloke I bought the bike from. Not sure who makes it but it says 'Dr Bike' on it
  16. I wouldn't be too disheartened - you're not the only person who didn't finish their CBT in one day, however yours did seem quite expensive! Many training schools also offer the second session free if they think you should go back on another day. I had similar problems with the slow riding/balanced riding & Rennie took me to a car park with a pushbike to practise U turns & figure 8's & it helped tremendously! I wouldn't go out & buy a pushbike but yes, borrow one & practise the slow riding - you might well fid it does help!
