  1. I might get a Polite jacket and white helmet and scare a few boy racers into thinking the cops now ride sports bikes
  2. i bet loads of us have old tools we no longer need. maybe we could loan them out to people who could make use of them?
  3. having possibly the closest tent to the bar worked out very well for me... No way i would have managed a 6 mile treck back to a hotel room! Besides, having the bike at the party meant the girls from the weeding had something to sit on ;)
  4. suffice to say: http://themotorbikeforum.co.uk/gallery/image.php?mode=medium&album_id=94&image_id=1292
  5. I'm watching this with great interest. I mentioned it to the other half last night. Her thoughts were that if i was biking over to Lux, she could drive the car over and stay with her family who live there. She drives slowly so i wouldnt be waiting for her, but it means she could have quality time with her family, and i could have quality time with my bike! Also mean's we'll have the possibility of a support vehicle to carry any bulky luggage/tools etc
  6. No, not impersonating the police (that would be illegal), but you have to wonder about the choice of the word "POLITE" - its a bit of a random word to have written on your back... If i was about safety, they would have something more appropriate written on their backs such as "SLOW DOWN" or "THINK BIKE", but they dont... they pick seemingly random word. So is this a coincidence that at a glance, their seemingly random, unrelated word just happens to look like the word "POLICE"? no of course not! Wearing a "POLITE" jacket is not about safety, its a deliberate attempt to mislead other road users into mistaking the wearer for the police.
  7. If you made one that said "POOLICE" would people wear it?? Poo lice sound like nasty little creatures... Bit like the people who might wear them!
  8. You dont need to use a torque wrench to undo the bolt. Just get your t-bar on it and give it a gentle tap with a hammer. No need to go buy another tool...
  9. just what i was gonna say... carbon is cool, plastic is tacky.
  10. I would love to come. Route looks great but I've got to be home to supervise my builders
  11. Looks a great trip! My partner is from Luxembourg so i've driven there a few times in the car to stay with her family. its a fantastic place, and the scenery is stunning, and the local wine is fantastic I've also driven a few laps of the Nurburgring in my car (its not the scary!), but always wanted to do it on a bike... September next year seems ages away, but i'm sure it will come round quickly... If you dont mind a sports bike tagging along, i'll see if i can persuade 'er in doors' to let me go...
  12. Does it need to be an item of clothing? Or could you do any product?
  13. Will have to wear my welding mask all the time I'm in the garage to avoid going blind...
  14. saw those... wonder if they'll be too bright for inside a garage?
  15. 10watts of LED lighting for 10.99 - no mention of Lumens though http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/10w-led-floodlight-a00ra I wonder if these have a stepdown transformer inside them that we can bypass to allows us to run from battery?
  16. battery was about 45quid i think. total price for the battery and panel was 70 something quid... Lumen count is the problem! the LED sets i posted above are only 480 lumens.. but if that's spread evenly over the ceiling, it might be better than point sources of light. Cetainly good enough for me to not trip over a motorbike, but probably not good enough for intricate work... Other idea was to buy an LED spotlight. there are loads on the market to replace the older 500w halogen spotlights. They are all 240v but i reckon they must have a step down transformer inside them. If that's the case, we might be able to buy mains voltage LED spotlights, bypass the transformer and run direct from battery...
  17. im probably gonna buy a set of these to see how well they work... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12v-30-LED-Li ... 43cebb55b1
  18. too much UV light - we'll come out of our man caves with crazy suntans!!
  19. Having the back of my house extended, so running an extension lead is not really gonna work with builders and mechanical diggers about. So I've got at least 6weeks with no garage power..
  20. For various reasons my garage doesn't have mains power at the moment, and with days getting shorter I've decided to rig up some 12v lights. I know Fozzie was looking at this too.. So today Iused the halfords card to buy a lesure battery and a solar charger.. Need to source some lights now.. Any ideas? Its just temporary until I get mains power back..
  21. Joeman

    not charging

And if you plug it in when the engine is running the engine should stop. Sounds to me like the ignition switch is bad. Possible the welding has welded the contacts closed.
  22. My partners birthday tomorrow so I'm likely to be on childcare duties... If I can get away I'll come!
  23. man years ago, a few days after Christmas, i had a sore eye... i was rubbing it loads and it was just not getting better. Eventually i decided to look in the mirror an pull my lower eyelid down. What i found was a pine needle from the Christmas tree under my lower eye lid. Turns out the getting drunk and sleeping under the tree is not good for the eyes!!
  24. Specifically went out to find one for myself. It's been very helpful. saves wearing sunglasses or a permanent tinted visor. Yep, they're great. I ride most of the time with the internal visor down and the main visor open. Allows plenty of airflow but still protects against bug impacts.
  25. Internal sun visors are nice to have, good for sunny summer days as well as winter days when the sun is low in the sky. Pay a bit extra for an internal visor though.
