mattycoops43
Hi Peoples.I need help from a friendly geek please. (I am a self confessed geek in many areas, but not tv)My mum has just moved down to be near me, she has a freeview tv that has a co-ax aerial input and an HDMI socket as well as the usual red/white/yellow phono input. She has no aerial wire coming into the house anywhere, despite having an aerial on the chimney (suspect it goes to neighbours)BUT she has a satellite dish on the rear wall, with a twin cable coming through the wall right by her tv, it is the screw in rf type connection. (same as goes into cable box etc)What is the cheapest way to convert to the right connection for tv? it is not HD tv so not bothered about hdmi, but it might be the easiest option if I need some kind of box. I have been looking online and have seen the converter boxes that route the different inputs satellite, cable etc, but they are about £50 which seems overkill for what she needs. A co-ax cable going into the tv would work fine if it's the cheapest option. There is good signal strength in the area, but on the wrong side of the house for an indoor aerial to work well in the room it is in. and the dish seems to be the obvious best solution. If you can recommend a specific product, put a link here, would be great! Thanks guysMatt

Stu
you need an aerial putting up you wont get a signal off a satellite dish on to a TV If you want to use the sat dish you will need a decoder that will work with the dish free sat will work with it and will plug straight in

Joeman
If its got built in freesat just connect one of the cables from the dish to the tv.. Should be the same screw connector.EDIT: i took a photo the freesat connector on the back of my TV for you [album]604[/album]
mattycoops43
Thanks guys, got it sorted now, we have sky so its all new to me. The tv is freeview, so now I know we need a freesat box, £30 for that it's not worth the cabling to fit a roof aerial
Tango
I was gonna say that Matty. We inherited a Sat dish on the house....so we bought a Freesat box......bit temperemental as I think the LNB's on the Sky dish are a bit old and flaky....but works OK most of the time. mattycoops43
She got a bush freesat box for £29.99. I fitted it earlier and it works a treat.
